The words remained suspended in the expanse of Rhaevia’s mind, echoing with a haunting resonance.

You finally remembered how to command them.

Her golden Sovereign aura flickered violently, reacting to the spatial distortion ripple sweeping across the bridge. Down on the planetary surface below, millions of Zerg units remained frozen in place, their countless eyes turned upward toward the starry void.

Even the massive warships of the Imperial fleet had halted their energy charging sequences, their targeting arrays locked in place. Nobody moved, and nobody dared to draw a single breath as the suffocating pressure mounted.

Raevor stood directly before Rhaevia, his broad shoulders shielding her body from the spatial rift forming in the center of the command deck. His silver eyes scanned the distorted displays as his Sentinel energy flared in response.

“Show yourself,” Raevor commanded, his voice cutting through the silence like a razor.

The voice answered from the void with a soft laugh. It was neither mocking nor aggressive but carried a deep, crushing sorrow that transcended centuries.

“You still protect her,” the voice murmured, echoing through every metal panel of the ship. “Just as you did in the old age.”

Raevor’s jaw set in a rigid line, his posture shifting into an offensive stance. Beside him, Rhaevia’s heart lurched wildly against her ribs as a wave of phantom familiarity crashed over her conscious mind.

She knew that voice intimately. It was not merely because her recovered memories told her who he was, but because the very core of her soul recognized the frequency of his existence.

The command deck’s reinforced spatial field suddenly fractured, emitting crystalline cracking sounds. A thin line of blinding silver light appeared in the center of the room, splitting the ambient atmosphere in two.

Another line intersected it, expanding outward until a circular spatial rift hovered above the deck plates. Geometric symbols circled its shimmering perimeter, pulsing with cold, celestial energy.

Raevor immediately unleashed the full expanse of his 3S Sentinel aura, creating a translucent barrier between the rift and the woman he loved. “Stay behind me,” he ordered, his voice unwavering.

Rhaevia did not step back, nor could she move her limbs if she tried. Her entire body had gone deathly rigid as the presence on the other side of the portal pulled at the deepest roots of her spirit.

The spatial portal opened, folding space back to reveal the man stepping through the threshold. He was tall, broad, and imposing, clad in flowing black-and-silver robes that seemed to drink in the surrounding light.

Long, lustrous silver hair fell over his shoulders, moving in waves despite the absence of any physical breeze inside the flagship. His eyes were deep, carrying a profound depth that made the vastness of the surrounding star systems feel insignificant.

The moment his silver gaze locked onto Rhaevia, the chaotic energy rippling through the room came to a halt. The cold, unyielding majesty surrounding his figure melted away in a single breath.

For the first time across eons, something agonizingly human surfaced within his eyes. A complex mix of recognition, overwhelming relief, and unbearable grief washed over his features.

“My Sovereign,” he whispered, his voice trembling ever so slightly.

Rhaevia’s breath hitched in her throat as her heart hammered against her sternum. She stared at the legendary figure standing before her, her lips parting as she struggled to find her voice. “You…”

The man took a single, slow step toward her, his heavy robes brushing against the polished metal floor. Raevor reacted instantly, stepping directly into his path to block his approach.

The True King’s eyes shifted slowly from Rhaevia to the major general standing between them. For several agonizing moments, the two transcendent men stared at each other in silence.

The atmosphere on the command deck grew so dense that the ship’s environmental sensors began chiming in quiet warning. Neither man yielded a single inch, their opposing energies grinding against one another like tectonic plates.

A faint, melancholic smile touched the True King’s lips as he studied Raevor’s fierce, unyielding posture. “You truly are still beside her,” he murmured, his tone devoid of malice.

Raevor’s voice remained razor-cold, his eyes narrowed. “Who are you?”

The True King offered no immediate answer to the General’s challenge. Instead, his gaze drifted back toward Rhaevia, locking onto her tear-filled eyes.

“I have waited a long time to hear you command the Zerg again,” he said softly, his voice carrying the weight of forgotten epochs.

Rhaevia’s fingers trembled against her sides as she took a small step around Raevor’s shadow. “How long?” she rasped out.

The True King looked at her with an expression so full of quiet devotion that her chest physically ached. “Longer than this modern civilization remembers,” he answered.

He took another step forward, his eyes never leaving hers. “Longer than the Empire has existed in these stars.”

He took one more step, closing the distance until only Raevor’s extended barrier separated them. “Longer than the Zerg have carried your blood through their evolutionary memory.”

Rhaevia’s eyes widened in shock as the reality of his words crashed over her senses. “How many lifetimes?”

The True King came to a halt, his posture softening completely as he stood before her. “I stopped counting after the first thousand,” he whispered.

The simple statement struck her soul like a physical blow, leaving her breathless in the quiet room. Her eyes burned with unshed tears as she searched his face. “You knew?”

“I knew every time you were born into a new world,” he replied gently. “I watched from the shadows every time your soul awakened without its memories.”

Her breath vanished from her lungs as she listened to his quiet confession. “Every time I forgot…”

“Every time you grew into someone new, and every time you died,” he said, his voice dropping to a soft, heartbreaking murmur.

Rhaevia’s lips parted in realization as phantom images flickered rapidly across her subconscious mind. She saw different alien worlds, different physical forms, unfamiliar skies, and violent, forgotten wars.

And standing far in the distance, veiled beneath the shadows of space, was always that same tall, silver-haired figure. Watching over her, waiting in absolute solitude, and never interfering until her soul faced total destruction.

“You were always there,” she whispered, a tear finally escaping her eye.

“Yes,” he confirmed without hesitation.

“Every single time?”

“Every single time,” he repeated, his gaze unwavering.

More tears spilled over Rhaevia’s lashes, tracing warm paths down her pale cheeks. “If you were watching me… why didn’t you come for me sooner?”

The True King’s expression fractured with a raw, unbearable grief that shattered his regal composure. “Because you asked me not to,” he confessed softly.

Rhaevia froze, her mind reeling. “I asked you?”

“Before you cast your soul into the cycle, you bound me with a final decree,” he said, his eyes lowering slightly. “You told me that if I interfered before your soul was ready, the enemy would trace my energy and destroy you before you could awaken.”

He looked back up at her, his expression filled with devotion. “So I obeyed your command, my Sovereign.”

Rhaevia’s heart twisted with a deep, agonizing pain for the man who had suffered through eternity in silence. “You let me suffer through all those lives alone.”

“I did,” he admitted freely, offering no excuses or defenses for his actions. “Because you asked me to let you live without the burden of remembering what we lost.”

Rhaevia’s tears fell freely now, sparkling like starlight under the command deck’s overhead lights. The True King gazed upon her as if she were the only living entity in the expanse of the cosmos.

“You designed Project Genesis to ensure your own return,” he said, his voice softening with immense pride. “You carved the path through time so that you could eventually stand here today.”

Rhaevia stared at him through her blurred vision, her chest heaving. “And you waited for me through all of it.”

“Yes.”

“For all those endless lifetimes?”

“Yes,” he answered, his voice steady as a mountain.

She swallowed past the lump in her throat, her voice barely audible. “And now?”

The True King took one final step forward, crossing the threshold of Raevor’s barrier without breaking it. For the first time, a fierce, blazing light ignited within his silver eyes.

“Now you remember who you are,” he declared, his voice reverberating through the structure of the flagship.

The entire command deck trembled in response to his aura, and down on the planet, every Zerg unit simultaneously bowed its head even lower to the earth. The True King glanced out toward the silent, dormant battlefield before turning his gaze back to Rhaevia.

His voice dropped into a solemn, unyielding vow that echoed into the depths of her soul. “This time, my Sovereign, I will not let you die.”
