The Trash Guide Awakens: The Youngest General's Hidden Wife
Chapter 125: The Sovereign Territory
By midmorning, the central assembly hall of Frontier City had filled well beyond its intended capacity.
Representatives from the human settlements occupied one side of the vast chamber. Across from them sat the elders of the subterranean civilization, their crystalline markings shimmering beneath the sunlight that filtered through the transparent ceiling.
Several imposing Zerg stood near the open entrances, their massive forms watched cautiously by armed human guards. Above the central platform, a luminous holographic map displayed the vast territory Rhaevia intended to establish.
It included the Crystal Forest, the underground city, the fortress, and the surrounding regions rich in unexploited natural resources. Along its outer boundary, three neighboring planetary systems flickered into view.
Rhaevia stood before the silent assembly, dressed in a dark military uniform adorned with gold accents. Beside her stood Raevor, his silver eyes observing the subtle shifts in the crowd’s expressions.
"This territory cannot survive through military strength alone," Rhaevia began, her clear voice echoing off the metallic walls. "We have already witnessed what happens when an outside power decides that our resources and abilities belong to them."
A stillness fell over the entire room. Every delegate strained forward to hear her words.
"I will not establish another empire where a single person holds absolute authority over everyone else," she stated firmly.
Several human representatives exchanged uncertain glances, murmuring in low whispers.
One human official slowly raised his hand to speak. "Then who will govern this territory, Lady Rhaevia?"
"A council," she answered without a moment’s hesitation.
Rhaevia gestured toward the holographic map, which immediately divided the vast territory into several distinct administrative regions.
"Human settlements will elect their own representatives," she explained, glancing across the room.
"The subterranean civilization will choose its own delegates. The native inhabitants of this planet will have a direct voice in every decision affecting their habitats, and the Zerg will be represented through a dedicated liaison system communicating directly with their collective network."
A sudden wave of murmurs spread across the grand hall as the delegates digested the proposal.
"Resources will be managed collectively," Rhaevia continued, her tone steady and unyielding. "Essential energy supplies, water reserves, research facilities, and defensive infrastructure will be protected by laws applying equally to every member of this territory."
She paused for a brief moment, allowing the weight of her words to settle over the audience.
"No species will be permitted to enslave another," she declared. "No community will be displaced for profit without full representation and due process. And no military commander will possess the authority to seize civilian resources simply because they hold greater power."
An elder from the subterranean city rose slowly from his seat, his crystalline markings pulsing soft.
"You would give our people equal standing with humanity?" he asked, his deep voice carrying through the hall.
"Yes," Rhaevia replied, locking her gaze onto his.
"Even though some humans still fear the Zerg?" the elder pressed.
Rhaevia’s gaze remained unwavering. "Fear is not a justification for persecution. Nor does peaceful coexistence require anyone to abandon their right to defend themselves."
The elder studied her silently for several seconds before bowing his head in respect.
"Then our civilization will participate in this council," he conceded smoothly.
One by one, other regional representatives began voicing their support across the room.
The tense atmosphere inside the assembly hall gradually shifted from thick uncertainty to cautious determination.
Raevor leaned slightly toward Rhaevia, keeping his voice low so only she could hear.
"You realize that refusing the throne may create more political complications than simply accepting it," he murmured.
She glanced sideways at him, a subtle flicker of amusement dancing in her eyes.
"Would you prefer that I sit on a golden chair and issue rigid commands all day?" she asked.
"I would prefer that you sleep for more than three hours," Raevor countered smoothly.
"That sounds considerably less interesting," she whispered back.
His expression barely changed, but their shared resonance carried a faint, comforting warmth that made her smile.
Turning back to face the crowd, Raevor addressed the whole assembly in a clear, commanding voice.
"As the military commander responsible for this territory’s defense, I will recognize the council’s civilian authority," he declared. "The armed forces will protect the population, not govern it."
His declaration carried immense weight throughout the hall. A major general of the empire was publicly committing himself to a government entirely independent of imperial military control.
Rhaevia understood the profound gravity of his words. There would undoubtedly be severe political consequences from the High Command.
Yet, she had never once promised that winning true freedom would be easy.
"Then it is settled," Rhaevia announced, her voice rising above the crowd. "We will establish the Sovereign Territory as a cooperative civilization, not a personal kingdom. Its authority will come directly from the people and communities that choose to belong to it."
The assembly erupted into enthusiastic applause, breaking the long-held tension.
For the very first time, the formal name of their new realm flared brightly across the central holographic display.
[SOVEREIGN TERRITORY - FOUNDING CHARTER INITIATED.]
[NEW GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE DETECTED.]
[PRIMARY AUTHORITY: REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL.]
[CREATOR AUTHORIZATION: ACKNOWLEDGED.]
Rhaevia stared intently at the final system notification flashing before her eyes.
"Creator authorization?" she whispered beneath her breath, her brow furrowing in confusion.
Before she could voice her question aloud, a sudden tremor violently shook the floor beneath them.
The joyful applause died instantly as people stumbled to regain their footing.
A deep vibration rolled relentlessly beneath the assembly hall, rattling the glass windows and making the holographic map flicker wildly. Far below the city streets, the planet’s vast crystal network began pulsing with a radiant intensity Rhaevia had never felt before.
She gripped the metal railing firmly with one hand to balance herself.
Surging involuntarily through her veins, a torrent of golden energy flared brightly through her body.
What is happening? she wondered as her pulse quickened.
Project Genesis immediately flooded her vision with bright red warning banners.
[PLANETARY CORE ACTIVITY: INCREASING.]
[ANCIENT ENERGY RESONANCE: DETECTED.]
[PRIMARY SIGNATURE: SOVEREIGN GUIDE RHAEVIA RYTHUNDEIR.]
Rhaevia’s breath caught sharply in her chest as the spatial readings spiked.
The entire planet was actively answering her raw energy presence.
Deep beneath their feet, a mechanism had finally awakened.
And it was calling specifically to her.
