The Trash Guide Awakens: The Youngest General's Hidden Wife
Chapter 129: Origin Energy
The name lingered in Rhaevia’s mind long after the holographic recording faded into dark particles. Origin Energy. It sounded like a forgotten echo from an epoch long before modern star systems were mapped or classified.
Outside the laboratory’s reinforced walls, the Sovereign City remained illuminated by golden currents flowing beneath its dark metallic surfaces.
Within the research chamber, however, Rhaevia had ordered every unnecessary system deactivated to concentrate all available power on a single objective. She needed to understand the energy source. Her ancient self had considered the foundation of sovereign existence.
She straightened her posture near the console and addressed the central voice.
“Begin a comparative analysis,” she instructed Project Genesis calmly. “Cross-reference Origin Energy with my Sovereign signature, the planetary core, and every accessible record from the seventeen research divisions.”
A series of mechanical tones sounded across the room.
[ANALYSIS INITIATED.]
[ACCESSIBLE RECORDS: INSUFFICIENT.]
[ORIGIN ENERGY: FUNDAMENTAL PROPERTIES UNKNOWN.]
[WARNING: DIRECT EXPOSURE NOT RECOMMENDED.]
Rhaevia knitted her brow at the persistent warning text. “I am not planning to expose myself to anything yet,” she replied directly to the interface. “I want precise physical measurements.”
She tapped her fingers across the workstation interface to bring up the archived data. Several large holographic panels unfolded immediately, displaying the raw radiation signatures captured during the recording’s playback.
The sphere’s radiation pattern was unlike any standard electromagnetic frequency she had ever studied across her lives. It displayed no conventional wavelength, yet the instruments registered simultaneous interactions with matter, physical spatial structures, and pure consciousness.
Even more strangely, the numbers began shifting whenever her golden Sovereign energy drifted near the display.
“It is responding directly to my signature,” she murmured under her breath.
Raevor stood across the workstation, his silver eyes fixed on the fluctuating readings. “Or the equipment itself is responding to your proximity,” he pointed out reasonably.
Rhaevia did not look up from her panel. “Those two possibilities are not mutually exclusive.”
She adjusted the experiment parameters carefully, isolating a microscopic residual energy imprint preserved within the recording’s data structure. It was not the original Origin Energy itself, but a faint signature left behind on the sensing equipment.
The distinction was vital to their survival. Rhaevia had no intention of accidentally releasing an uncontained primary energy source inside a facility buried miles beneath a fragile city.
“Prepare the internal containment field,” she ordered while bringing up the primary flux barriers. “We will test the residual signature first.”
Raevor moved without hesitation toward the secondary control panel. “Tell me what you need from my side.”
“Your Sentinel energy,” Rhaevia said, meeting his gaze across the console.
His fingers paused an inch above the secondary interface. “My energy?”
“Your Sentinel signature has repeatedly triggered responses from these systems,” she explained, taking a step toward him.
“The crystal forest recognized it, and the planetary network reacted when you approached the deep roots. If Origin Energy forms the true foundation of higher-order authority, your resonance might reveal a structural frequency my Sovereign signature cannot unlock alone.”
Raevor studied her face for a moment, weighing the risks. “And if this experiment destabilizes the entire laboratory?”
“We shut it down instantly,” she answered flatly.
“You say that as though sovereign technology always obeys modern shutdown commands,” Raevor noted dryly.
Rhaevia offered him a small, rare smile. “That is precisely why you are in the room.”
He shook his head with an expression of mild disapproval, but he placed his palm firmly against the designated silver interface. “Proceed.”
The laboratory’s containment field came to life, projecting a translucent box of protective force at the center of the platform.
Rhaevia extended her right hand, allowing a controlled, thread-like stream of golden Sovereign energy to pass into the isolated chamber. Raevor followed her cue, guiding a thin current of bright silver Sentinel energy beside her golden strand.
The two distinct energies hovered inside the containment grid, approaching the residual imprint from opposite ends. At first, nothing happened, and the air remained silent. Then, without warning, the monitoring panels began flashing in rapid succession.
[SOVEREIGN ENERGY: DETECTED.]
[SENTINEL ENERGY: DETECTED.]
[CROSS-RESONANCE ANALYSIS: INITIATED.]
Rhaevia leaned forward, her gaze locked onto the core interface. “Stabilize your silver output at twelve percent.”
Raevor adjusted his internal flow immediately, matching her command without missing a beat. Their natural Guide – Sentinel resonance bridged the two streams, harmonizing their frequencies seamlessly without allowing either signature to overpower the other.
Inside the chamber, the tiny residual imprint suddenly brightened into a blinding speck of light. A harmless pulse of warm energy swept outward, washing over the reinforced glass.
Rhaevia’s eyes widened as the system began generating thousands of new equations per second. “That should not be possible.”
Raevor glanced at her. “What are you seeing?”
“The imprint is not absorbing our combined energy,” she whispered, tracing the data lines with her eyes. “It is using our resonance as a blueprint to reconstruct a dormant structural pattern.”
The floor beneath their feet suddenly shuddered violently.
Across the wide research chamber, every single inactive workstation illuminated simultaneously. Raevor immediately tried to pull his hand back from the panel, but the silver energy kept flowing through the interface, pulled by an invisible gravitic force beneath the central floor.
“Rhaevia,” Raevor warned, his muscles tensing as his aura flared. “Something beneath us is activating.”
“I see it!” she shouted over the rising sound.
Golden and silver currents spiraled across the smooth floor tiles, weaving together into a vast geometric formation that expanded beneath every console in the room. Crimson notifications flooded Rhaevia’s vision through her personal link.
[UNREGISTERED CORE ACTIVATION DETECTED.]
[ENERGY SOURCE: ORIGIN-CLASS SIGNATURE.]
[CREATOR AUTHORITY: VERIFIED.]
[RESPONSE TRIGGER: SOVEREIGN–SENTINEL RESONANCE.]
With a deep mechanical hiss, the central floor split open, sliding back to reveal an underground shaft.
A massive crystalline mechanism rose slowly from the dark depths, its concentric metallic rings spinning rapidly around a point of pure, condensed light. Rhaevia reached out instinctively, gripping Raevor’s free hand to steady herself.
The moment their fingers locked, their combined energies surged wildly.
The rising crystalline mechanism answered their spike with a thunderous wave of force that rattled the city’s deep foundation. The stone walls seemed to dissolve into light, and the metal ceiling above them faded into pitch-black shadow.
Thousands of luminous, brilliant stars suddenly appeared in the air around them, filling the upper half of the laboratory with a stunning cosmic sky.
Golden and silver lines shot out between the stars, drawing unfamiliar constellations and spatial pathways that spanned far beyond any modern chart in the Empire.
The three-dimensional map continued to grow until it enveloped the entire room, turning the floor beneath them into a sea of deep space.
Rhaevia stared upward in silence, her fingers tightening around Raevor’s hand. Her breath hitched as she recognized the scale of what they were looking at.
“This is not a star chart of the known territories,” she said softly, her voice echoing in the vast projection. “It is a map of something much larger.”
Project Genesis chimed one final time in her mind.
[ANCIENT COSMIC MAP: ACTIVATION IN PROGRESS.]
Above their heads, seven unfamiliar star systems began to illuminate with intense blue light, writing coordinates across the dark air.
