Chapter 1181: Chapter 1208: They Are All Very Strong (5)

——

The next day, morning.

Mia Ginger and Koa Jackson naturally woke up late.

They didn’t arrive at the hospital until eleven.

However, since Koa used to work at the hospital and was quite famous, almost every doctor and nurse there knew him and knew his background. Therefore, even though he resigned, people were incredibly enthusiastic when they saw him.

Mia managed to get her check-up before lunch break, waiting for the results during lunchtime.

The two had lunch at a restaurant outside, and she planned to visit Camden River.

At the hospital entrance, they bought a fruit basket and a bouquet of flowers. After making a phone call to check, she and Koa headed to the inpatient department together.

Camden River was daydreaming while leaning against the bed.

After Mia called, he was in a good mood, but unexpectedly received a WeChat from Ali Harris.

After yesterday, he already blocked Ali Harris and Windsor Myres’ phone numbers, determined not to have any more dealings or entanglements with them. Unexpectedly, since calling wasn’t an option, Ali used WeChat instead.

He sent a message.

The gist was that he and Windsor Myres went on a trip; he would bring happiness to Windsor. Given the situation, he hoped Camden could truly let go of Windsor Myres and stop disturbing them anymore.

Camden’s anger was understandable.

He didn’t reply and immediately blocked Ali and Windsor’s contact information again.

He just felt humiliated.

When he found out that the two hooked up while he was abroad, he felt deeply humiliated and angry. Yet, although he thought about breaking up with Windsor Myres, his heart was still filled with unbearable pain.

During his study abroad, he had no ambiguous relationships with any girls.

Windsor Myres’ behavior exceeded his acceptable limits; he simply couldn’t tolerate it.

Who would have thought—

On returning home, he found them entangled in his house.

That was his home!

If at that moment he felt bleeding wounds in his heart, by now, he’d become completely numb.

At the very least, he felt he should have been numb long ago.

Yet there was still anger.

It’s nothing.

He kept reminding himself over and over, it’s nothing, it’s all in the past, just a lousy romance.

Just a lousy memory.

He reminded himself so, but with little effect.

When Mia and Koa came in, he talked with them, but his smile seemed forced, as if he was suppressing certain emotions.

With Koa present, Mia couldn’t ask much, so she chatted with him for a while. Knowing he could be discharged at the end of the month, she felt relieved, and by two o’clock, she and Koa left the ward to pick up the results at the outpatient department.

The ultrasound results gave her quite a scare.

"The left one seems quite normal, but the right one..." The doctor paused slightly, glancing at Koa before speaking gently, "The right one is developing a bit slowly, somewhat small for the month, with the umbilical cord wrapped twice around the neck, which is quite serious."

Mia stared at the ultrasound without speaking.

Koa rested a hand on her shoulder, tentatively asking, "Is the slow development caused by this? Is there a way to resolve it?"

"The slow development is partly due to this," the doctor explained, "But your wife is quite slim, carrying twins always poses some risk. The two babies compete for nutrients; the left one is normal, but the right one absorbs less, hence it’s smaller."

"How do we resolve it?" Koa asked, his voice steady.

"There’s no solution for now; we recommend a follow-up check in two weeks. The umbilical cord sometimes naturally unwinds. Surgery is not recommended if it can be avoided due to high risks. During mid-pregnancy, babies grow fast. It’s important that your wife rests well and eats well."

"Could the umbilical cord cause them to suffocate?" Mia’s voice trembled.

The doctor hesitated slightly, "There is a possibility. During pregnancy, anything can happen."

"Don’t scare yourself," Koa gently patted Mia’s head and softly said, "Babies aren’t that fragile. It’s normal for one twin to be bigger than the other. They’re supposed to be smaller than singletons."

"Exactly," the doctor echoed, comforting her, "Don’t be too anxious. Regular check-ups and a relaxed mindset are crucial. Also, don’t frequently touch your belly; some people have a habit of touching it during pregnancy, which isn’t good. It’s better to touch from top to bottom."

"Is it bad for the babies?"

"It’s always better to be careful."

Seeing her expression change, the doctor cautiously commented.

Koa thanked the doctor, went to the pharmacy to get medicine, and supported Mia as they walked out.

Mia remained silent all the way.

They got into the car, but Koa hadn’t started the engine when Mia suddenly covered her face with her hands and burst into tears.

"What’s wrong?"

Koa paused, turned toward her, wrapped an arm around her, and softly comforted, "It’s alright. Don’t scare yourself. It’s all okay."

"I touch it often," Mia sobbed with tears, "It’s my fault—I didn’t know I shouldn’t keep touching it. What do I do, Brother Jackson? I’m so scared."

"Don’t be scared," Koa pulled her closer, cupping her face gently, "Trust me. Babies are strong and not as fragile as you think. We’ll check again in two weeks, and it will be fine."

Mia looked at him with tearful eyes.
