the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1570 - 1552: Brother Mu’s Overwhelming Possessiveness

  • Next Chapter

Gabriel was brewing honey pomelo tea, and hearing that, poked his little head out, smiling warmly as he said, "I went shopping this afternoon, try it after you shower. If it doesn’t fit, I’ll exchange it tomorrow. It’s nice to wear new clothes to a meal, especially when friends come over, wouldn’t want to be too shabby."

The tall, sturdy man paused slightly, staring at the new clothes in the bag. His hands were sweaty, and he didn’t dare touch them for fear of getting them dirty. Since his retirement, no one had bought him new clothes. This was the first gift he’d received in years.

After showering, the man tried on the new clothes. They fit well. The fabric was soft and comfortable. Marcus Quinn looked at the scruffy man in the mirror and gently shaved the stubbly blue-gray beard with a razor.

Gabriel brought out a large pot of honey pomelo tea and was momentarily stunned upon seeing Marcus step out. Seeing Marcus without his beard and in new clothes made him look like a transformed man. His presence was tough and mature, and the scar on his brow added a touch of sternness to his well-defined features, which exuded the masculinity of a rugged man.

Wow, he’s really manly. Gabriel thought to himself in awe, perhaps having stared for too long, Marcus glanced over and said in a low voice, "Gabriel, let’s go downstairs, Chester Walker is still waiting for us."

Gabriel quickly nodded, changed his shoes, then watched the man take the pot from his hands, lock the door, and head downstairs.

Chester had parked his car in the corner of the neighborhood, and Marcus Quinn had pressured him into changing his clothes; he didn’t dare drive the military jeep proudly through the streets. The thirty-year-old man looked at the new shirt and floral pants feeling his lifetime of dignity had been shattered. He squatted by the roadside lamenting while smoking and dropped his cigarette in shock when he saw Marcus Quinn and a fair, sweet young girl walk up.

Holy shit, the sister-in-law is so beautiful? More beautiful than the military belles from our Military District?

"Si-Sister-in-law, I’m Chester Walker, you can just call me Little Chester." Chester quickly stood up, awkwardly grinning.

Gabriel’s cheeks flushed as he heard him call her sister-in-law, and she greeted him shyly. Seeing his skin was tanned to a bronze shade and such a big man yet wearing floral pants, she couldn’t help but smile, finding him a bit cute.

Marcus Quinn’s gaze swept over the young girl’s sweet face and then glanced at Chester’s floral pants, saying flatly, "Let’s go, let’s eat."

"Bro, what are we eating tonight? Didn’t you say you’d cook personally?" Chester Walker, having worked under Marcus for years, could see he wasn’t in a good mood. He quickly stood up straight, not daring to look at Gabriel again.

Hmm, Brother Marcus is still fiercely possessive, not letting anyone even look.

"We’re going to Great Harvest House to eat, order the dishes, and we’ll cook them ourselves," Marcus decided.

It was Chester’s first time in this so-called Fountain City, and Gabriel wasn’t familiar with it either. Neither knew what kind of restaurant Great Harvest House was, but they both nodded in agreement and the three of them took a cab there.

When Gabriel and Chester saw that aside from the special dishes at Great Harvest House, the cheapest dish was 888, they were stunned. How much meat must be sacrificed for this meal?

The more Gabriel looked at the secretly made pig trotters, the more familiar it seemed. Isn’t this the pig trotters Marcus makes?

"Is the owner in?" Marcus requested a small private room and then asked the manager.

"Mr. Quinn?" The manager only recognized him after hearing his voice, staring in shock at the clean-shaven Marcus Quinn, who initially was considered a handyman. How could he have changed into a different person at a blink?

Recalling how this man, with his pig trotters, managed to pull in over 200,000 in sales in a month from them, the manager naturally didn’t underestimate him, saying with a laugh, "Mr. Quinn, please wait a moment. The owner happens to be in today. Is there anything I can do to bring General Gabriel over to you?"

"No need, I just want to ask if it’s possible for us to order and cook ourselves? We’ll pay the regular menu price." Marcus clarified his intentions.

The manager’s small eyes suddenly widened. Cook themselves? This Mr. Quinn had rejuvenated half of Great Harvest House’s business with just his pig trotters.

"Please wait, I’ll go ask General Gabriel." Excitedly, the manager ran off straight to find Gabriel.

Gabriel had been eating and sleeping well lately. This month’s restaurant revenue equaled that of half a year previously. He walked briskly, smiling at everyone he met. Upon hearing Marcus Quinn was there, he was overjoyed.

"General, didn’t you say you wanted to make friends with Mr. Quinn and learn about new dishes? Now Mr. Quinn has come to dine at our restaurant, offering to cook the dishes himself, though we’d charge him nonetheless. What do you think?"

"Yes, yes, yes, forget the charges, give him a free meal." Gabriel laughed, then instructed the manager, "Go tell Mr. Quinn to make two of each dish, and we’ll waive the bill."

"Got it," the manager hastened to relate the meaning to the boss, and he flew off back to the private room.

Marcus agreed to the waived bill as long as he cooked an extra portion, figuring it was a good deal. After all, today he had dealt with seven or eight men; that job was gone, he better save his money wisely, so he nodded.

Marcus went to the kitchen to cook. Due to time constraints, some dishes requiring long stews couldn’t be made. He planned to make braised hairtail, wild pepper beef, and upon seeing wild-caught mandarin fish in the kitchen added sautéed grasshead mandarin fish. Since both Marcus and Chester were hearty eaters, and it was currently crayfish season, Marcus planned to cook an additional six pounds of spicy crayfish to ensure plenty to eat.

At first, the manager followed Marcus around, but Great Harvest House’s chefs were busy cooking. Even the available chefs merely observed him from afar, not taking it too seriously.

Once Marcus briskly prepared the first dish, braised hairtail, its fragrance permeated the entire kitchen, overpowering the aroma of other dishes and tempting the mouthwatering chefs. Every chef became restless, sneaking glances at Marcus.

Two plates of hairtail, one delivered to Gabriel’s private room and one to Gabriel’s. Within five minutes, Gabriel marched into the kitchen, his air of authority abandoned as he ate the hairtail, animatedly instructing the manager, "Quick, call Great Harvest House’s VIP guests over. Arrive late and there’ll be nothing left."

Gabriel nearly ate tearing up. Damn, this is outrageously delicious.

Upon seeing their boss unapologetically carrying a plate over to watch this man cook, what restraint did they have left? With everyone idle, they clustered around, those occupied also eager to join.

The advantage of a dozen people gathering was apparent. There were hands for washing and chopping vegetables. In the blink of an eye, the second dish, wild pepper beef, was ready. As Marcus cooked sautéed grasshead mandarin fish, Great Harvest House’s main chef was taken aback, exclaiming incessantly, "Marvelous, I didn’t know grasshead mandarin fish could be cooked like this?"

Marcus simultaneously prepared dishes with two pots. While the sautéed grasshead mandarin fish was stewing, he skillfully added the crayfish to the pan, flooding the kitchen with the dominant spicy aroma, striking at the heart.

The kitchen became an impenetrable gathering, everyone pausing their own cooking to crowd around.
