the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1635 - 1588: Marcus Quinn Gets Married, and No One Even Prepared New Bedding!

  • Next Chapter

Leah went to get some homemade chili sauce. This time coming to the Imperial City, she plans to gather all the things needed for their wedding, which would take about a week, so Marcus Quinn specially brought some homemade sauces from the farm.

"Marcus, your delivery has arrived." Yeats Howard took the delivery from the doorway and moved it to the kitchen, saying in surprise, "You just returned yesterday, how did the delivery get here so quickly?"

"Is it the golden fish?" Leah returned with the chili sauce, saw the delivery had arrived, and remarked that it only took a day from Anfield Village to the Imperial City. It was indeed fast and she laughed, urging, "Yeats, this is our breakfast, quickly open it."

"Hey, what kind of divine delicacy makes you both look so impatient?" Yeats casually used a utility knife to open the package, finding three fish inside. He was about to poke fun, but upon seeing the fish’s slender body and golden color, he suddenly realized it could be the godly fish that had taken the Imperial City by storm for the past two months, though it was exorbitantly priced. He widened his eyes and pointing at the ice-filled box, exclaimed as if seeing a ghost, "Could this really be the godly fish?"

This fish has only appeared in the Imperial City for the past month or two, and Yeats hasn’t tasted it himself, but his grandmother did — reportedly each bite is like eating a piece of gold, though it’s priceless and unavailable on the market.

Yeats has been trying to get his hands on it for a long time without success and felt he was boasting. It’s unimaginable for two people, one farming in the countryside and the other seemingly a delicate young girl, to have heard of the godly fish, let alone having it — impossible!

"Godly fish?" Leah and Marcus exchanged a glance filled with sarcasm about the ridiculous name. It seems the golden fish isn’t allowed outside of state banquets, hence Minister Li gave it another name. It’s not surprising Yeats knew about it.

"In the Imperial City, is this fish called the godly fish?" Leah curiously asked, "How much does one sell for?"

"Ah, if you hear about it, it’s frightening. One fish is priced at 800,000, yet you still can’t get one. These days the fish are more precious than gold. How did you two hear about this fish?" Yeats saw both appeared calm and was instantly suspicious, looking bewildered, "Could this actually be the godly fish?"

"Taken from our family lake." Marcus said casually, as they express delivered the fish last night, filling the box with ice. Marcus put two fish in the fridge for dinner and thawed the other for breakfast.

Yeats: "..."

Yeats, after a minute of processing, clasped Marcus’s shoulder and wailed.

"Bro, let me give you a back massage."

"Let me assist you."

"Hey, sister-in-law, I’ll go prepare tea for you."

Marcus: "..."

Leah: "..."

Half an hour later, Marcus served three large bowls of sour fish noodles, along with porridge he’d brewed, assorted side dishes, and freshly squeezed juice — an all-Chinese breakfast.

Yeats took the chopsticks, sipped a bit of the soup, and immediately grinned from ear to ear, elated.

What a divine taste. If Marcus were a woman, Yeats would surely marry him.

"Marcus, you only made fish soup, leaving no room for photos." Yeats complained while eagerly taking a photo of the three bowls of fish noodles and promptly posted them on his Moments.

Hardworking boss: [Divine fish from a friend’s gift, the soup is so fresh!]

Yeats’s Moments rapidly exploded with comments.

Best buddy one: [You said you’d share once you got some, what’s up with that?]

Best buddy two: [Selfish eater, despised!]

Best buddy three: [Aww, please spare a sip of soup.]

Howard Family Grandma: [Dear, are the ingredients sent to Marcus all delivered?]

Sage Howard: [Rascal, I haven’t had any of this fish, yet you’ve already eaten?]

South Prince: [Hey, nephew, three pairs of chopsticks, seems like you’re the only single dog.]

Major General: [The fish is nice, Leah loves it, send two over.]

Yeats @Howard Family Grandma: [\(^o^)/~ mission accomplished]

Yeats @Sage Howard: [You’re the father of a rascal, and rabbits don’t eat fish.]

Yeats @South Prince: [Uncle, life is tough without dismantling! I unilaterally announce we’re cutting ties.]

Yeats @Major General: [Reported, block list updated.]

Yeats continued eating noodles with great gusto, seeing all the comments below, likening them to sour grapes.

"Marcus, you’d better reply. Lots of people say I’m a fraud; you need to prove the fish is real."

Marcus leisurely said, "I don’t have you as a friend on WeChat."

Yeats felt utterly defeated.

Leah burst into laughter, asking, "Is this fish really so popular in the Imperial City?"

"Absolutely, it’s a case of hunger marketing, exaggerated like a longevity elixir. Those with money and power care about face, who wouldn’t want a taste to show off?" Yeats ate a piece of tender fish, nearly moved to tears. His old man hasn’t tasted the fish yet. What a divine delicacy!

Leah and Marcus exchanged a glance, slightly taken aback. Minister Li controls the fish supply, their lake has many, but without complete research results they can’t fish recklessly, fearing there’s not much left. They didn’t expect the rarity to cause such hype in the Imperial City.

"Then when you have time, come to our Holiday Village. I’ll have Marcus make it for you. These fish are difficult to bring to the Imperial City." Leah said with eyes smiling.

"Sister-in-law, you’re truly family! I’m joining you back to the Holiday Village." Yeats wished he could cling to Leah’s leg but seeing Marcus’s protective and possessive gaze on the side made him retract his hand and focus on eating.

A minute later, he drank every last drop, nearly licking the bowl clean.

Marcus and Leah: "..."

After the meal, Yeats relished in his Moments fame and hummed a tune as he volunteered to wash the dishes.

Marcus went to change clothes, then took out the shopping list written earlier in the morning, waited for Yeats to finish washing to go shopping together.

Five minutes later, Yeats looked at Marcus’s shopping list and was stunned.

Clothes? Diamond ring? Bedding? Shoes and bags? Aren’t these regular purchases? Yeats thought of the Howard Family’s preparations for weddings where his grandmother planned dowries and gifts, realizing Marcus didn’t have elders arranging his wedding and he had to buy bedding himself from the Imperial City.

After Marcus’s grandfather passed, the Duncan Family brought Marcus back. Presumably all good things were taken away, and Yeats slammed the shopping list on the table angrily, "Marcus, you’re getting married, your dad must prepare a house and car for you, right? At worst, your mother’s belongings should be given to you."

Marcus’s gaze deepened, remaining silent.

Beside them, Leah saw this fun-loving yet sarcastic Yeats suddenly getting angry, which was a bit intimidating, and immediately looked at Marcus, silently asking.

Yeats was hopping with anger, directly calling Howard Family Grandma, "Grandma, Marcus is getting married, and not even new bedding!"
