Chapter 1649 - 1596: Unveiling His True Face

Leah Squire saw his handsome and stern face full of displeasure, and worried that the pressure might wrinkle the dress, she quickly laughed charmingly and begged for mercy, saying, "Wooden, I was wrong, my husband is right next to me, let me call Yeats Howard now, hmm?"

Only then did Richard Shaw satisfactorily curl his lips and stop fussing, after all, once they appeared, they would be stared at like an X-ray by everyone’s eyes. If the clothes were inappropriate, it would inevitably spark imaginations. He didn’t care much, but if Leah was talked about, he would be unhappy.

"Forget it, you’re not allowed to call other men," Richard Shaw said in a deep, resonant voice. Leah’s married life was comfortable; after giving birth to their daughter, she seemed to grow younger. Her face was as gorgeous as a blossoming peach, causing Richard Shaw to become even more anxious about his wife than before they were married.

Leah was just saying it casually; she couldn’t actually make that call. She was exceptionally intelligent; Yeats Howard probably had something important for her, but he feared Richard Shaw, hence he inquired one more time. Even while sitting in Shaw Mansion, she heard outside descriptions of Vice Admiral Shaw, a walking jar of jealousy!

"What message does old Li have for Yeats Howard to convey to you?" The man paused for a moment, feeling something odd; his and old Li’s relationship was naturally closer than Yeats Howard’s with old Li, not to mention Leah was as close to Delphine as sisters, and yet Yeats Howard was idle every day, causing trouble!

Seeing the man’s handsome face darken, Leah pouted her red lips and laughed, "He’s naturally using his uncle as a pretext; he surely has something he can’t say over the phone. Although Yeats Howard seems carefree outside, he’s sharp inside. We’ll meet with him quietly later."

"Hmm." The man nodded slightly.

The car quickly stopped outside the Garden Castle, and as soon as the couple got out, numerous eyes were drawn to them; the whole street was cordoned off.

Vice Admiral Shaw and his wife arrived at the engagement banquet’s main venue, naturally causing a sensation. Adan saw everyone heading towards the entrance and stood up somewhat at a loss when someone resembling an attendant slipped her a note, then vanished into the crowd with a glass of red wine.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Adan glanced around and found the ladies’ room, opened the note, and saw only a few words: "Adan, there’s a reason for everything, allow me to explain later."

Adan immediately recognized the note was left for her by Caspian Yarn. She stood there dumbly until hearing voices outside, then reacted by flushing the note down the toilet and leaving the restroom.

"Vice Admiral Shaw has come over with his wife, Lana Shaw’s connection is certainly impressive, Yarn Family will rise to prominence in the future."

"Naturally, do you know how many prestigious families in Imperial City want to climb their marriage ladder but can’t? Yarn’s young master is rather shrewd."

Two socialite ladies passed by, a fragrant wind trailing behind, and the sound of mocking laughter gradually faded.

Adan looked up at the luxurious engagement party scene, seeing only ladies of high society coming and going; she was once familiar with such settings, but now felt out of place, somewhat suffocating. Adan quickly searched the garden for Marcus Quinn.

"Madam invites you in."

Marcus Quinn nodded and entered the lounge, seeing the reputedly powerful Richard Shaw standing by the window, in a suit, towering like a pine tree, sharply straight, like a sword weathered by the elements, emanating an oppressive aura.

Marcus Quinn had served many years in the Military District, later assigned to a special department; it was his first time meeting Richard Shaw.

"Good day, sir and madam." The man greeted steadily, his eyes resting on Lana Shaw in her pink dress.

Richard Shaw nodded, without speaking.

Leah Squire, seeing him enter with bright eyes, noted his loyal demeanor, a military aura similar to Richard Shaw’s, slightly arched her brows and said with a smile, "Mr. Quinn, please have a seat. Yeats Howard said you have something to discuss with us, so I took the liberty to invite Lana Shaw over; please feel free to speak."

The implication was not to keep Lana in the dark.

Marcus Quinn did not sit down, still standing at a distance, only pondering slightly, then spoke deeply, "It’s better with Miss Shaw around, this matter is indeed related to her. I’m Marcus Quinn, a retired soldier, due to personal reasons, I hope what I say today can be promised not to spread by you all."

Marcus Quinn’s few words slightly surprised Richard Shaw; perhaps because of his immense power, over the years, those who could meet Vice Admiral Shaw were those with firm resolve and strong nerves, and no one had ever requested a promise before.

"I heard from Yeats Howard that your grandfather is old Mr. Quinn; his character was esteemed, and his passing is a loss to the industry. I’m somewhat aware of your relationship with the Howard Family, it’s all rather connected," Richard Shaw said calmly, expressing a hint of goodwill without concealment.
