Chapter 1661: Settling Accounts and Competing for the Family Estate

Yeats Howard was pushed into a corner of the courtyard by a group of people. Seeing that the property bureau representatives finally arrived, he quickly got up to invite them into the living room, then glared at the meddling relatives and shouted with a dark face, “What is it, is this your house? We’re handling serious business here, hurry up and leave, if you won’t leave, then stay aside and keep cool.”

The Duncan family’s in-laws naturally wouldn’t leave, but seeing Yeats Howard standing there as if he alone could hold a fort against many, they felt too embarrassed to go in, so they all stayed at the door, peeking inside.

The property bureau representatives worked swiftly, coming in to handle the transfer procedures, with forms and existing contracts all filled out, taxes paid, and the procedures completed. They used a fast-track service, only needing to deliver the new property certificate later.

The house was transferred under Aedan’s name as a gift, so a gift contract was filled out, with additional clauses added indicating that even in a divorce, Marcus Quinn wouldn’t get any money. The staff handling the procedures looked a bit surprised at the clauses, glanced at Aedan with some envy, realizing this was an asset worth over a billion in the blink of an eye, and observing that the people inside are not the same as those outside.

“Mr. Quinn, Mrs. Quinn, we will have our staff deliver the new property certificate to your door. With the matter settled, we’ll take our leave.”

“Thank you very much.”

The property bureau representatives also exchanged greetings with Yeats Howard before leaving the house with smiles on their faces, only to be stopped immediately by members of the Zamora Family waiting outside.

“Comrade, which unit are you from, what are you doing here?”

The property bureau staff exchanged glances and replied, “We’re from the property bureau, we need to leave now.”

Once the crowd heard they were from the property bureau, they instantly became uneasy and blocked them from leaving.

“What’s going on? Is this house sold?” The Zamora Family was in a panic, with their faces turning unsightly.

“Please do not obstruct official duties. If you want to know anything, just ask the homeowner.” The two staff members from the property bureau also put on stern faces, instantly imagining a grand property dispute unfolding.

No wonder Marcus Quinn transferred the house as a gift to his wife with additional clauses ensuring he wouldn’t get the property’s money even in divorce. What else could this courtyard be but a nest of vampires?

As soon as the property bureau staff left, the Zamora Family erupted into a commotion, with some going to question Marcus Quinn and others to ask Elowen’s father.

Elowen’s father, who still cares about reputation in the Imperial City, let the Zamora Family lead the charge while he retreated, hearing that the property bureau people were here, extinguished his cigarette, and said with a cold face, “You go ahead and make a fuss, there are only three people inside, even if Marcus Quinn transfers the house, it’s to his wife. The house is right here, getting it is up to your ability, if you succeed, I’ll even throw in a house.”

Elowen’s father was playing his cards well, planning to sell the courtyard and replace it with several villas, giving one as a dowry for his youngest daughter, with the rest all for himself.

“Uncle, is there a way to get the house?” asked the eldest son of an uncle’s family.

“If they don’t pay, just say Marcus Quinn is unkind, unjust, and unfilial, and with such a label hanging over his head, he won’t recover for the rest of his life,” suggested the younger son.

“He will pay, he has no use for so much money.” Even Marcus Quinn didn’t take previous assets, Elowen’s father understood his son, who didn’t value material wealth. The problem was he brought a woman back this time, not knowing the background of that woman.

“Have you found any information on that woman?”

The two cousins from the uncle’s family looked at each other, wondering what to investigate since no one had paid attention to this woman.

“Come on, let’s take a look.” Elowen’s father stood up and led the group into the house, only to see the Zamora Family and Elowen Duncan all gathered around Aedan, discussing the dowry matters.

Seeing Marcus Quinn with a cold face, muscular and not easy to provoke, everyone shifted their focus to Aedan.

Aedan sat on a carved wooden chair, holding a tea cup, sipping tea unhurriedly, listening to Elowen Duncan calculate how much the Duncan Family spent on Marcus Quinn, while the Zamora Family calculated how much dowry the bride should receive.

After listening for a while without hearing anything new, Aedan became displeased, clinking the cup against the table, with her pretty little face clouding over, she stood up.

She didn’t speak, nor got angry, yet everyone in the room inexplicably felt that the sweet, cute young lady suddenly seemed to transform, becoming somewhat unfathomable.

“Zamora Family, right? If the Duncan Family doesn’t prepare a mansion, luxury car, and other things as dowry for their daughter, what will you do?” Aedan slowly asked, looking at the Zamora Family’s matriarch, the fourth aunt, noting how Zamora Family’s representatives are all relatives.
