the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1662 - 1601: Settling Accounts and Fighting Over the Family Inheritance (Part 2)

Zamora Family’s fourth aunt was taken aback and flustered by A-Tan’s cold and commanding gaze, blurting out, "If there’s no dowry, then what’s the point of getting married? We definitely don’t want such a niece-in-law."

"Very well, then you can go to the Duncan Family now to annul the engagement. Please leave my home, or I’ll call the police at the door," A-Tan pointed towards the door.

The Zamora Family was stupefied upon hearing this. They came for the dowry, how did it turn into annulling the engagement?

"You little girl, how can your heart be so black, are you trying to ruin your sister’s happiness?" the Zamora Family shouted.

"You vicious woman, if you ruin my marriage, I’ll fight you," Elowen Duncan exploded when she heard this and rushed forward to tear at A-Tan, but a strong and sturdy man stood before her, instantly suppressing everyone’s momentum.

Elowen Duncan did not dare to step forward.

With Marcus Quinn, a fierce bodyguard, and Yeats Howard on one side, A-Tan was fearless, looking at the Zamora Family and saying, "You go ahead and listen first, then decide whether you want this marriage."

Zamora Family: ???

A-Tan couldn’t be bothered with these Zamora Family members who were being used as tools, blinded by greed but unable to see the bigger picture. Those from the Zamora Family who were clear-headed were squatting in the courtyard, ashamed.

A-Tan looked at Elowen Duncan, a young girl smaller than Marcus, thin and sharp, with a face as sharp as a needle and pointed chin that could pierce someone, unwillingly glaring at A-Tan.

"Why should Marcus give you money?"

"He’s my brother, it’s only right for him to give me money," Elowen Duncan shouted with confidence. "The Duncan Family raised him; all the money was spent on him. Now the family has no money, he’s the eldest brother, so he should pay for his siblings’ marriages and take care of our parents in retirement, or else he’s unfilial."

"So you mean siblings should keep accounts? Even if he is family, even if Marcus is dirt-poor, he should fulfill his duties as brother and son, paying for your weddings and supporting your parents?" A-Tan asked.

"Naturally, that’s how it is, since he’s a member of the Duncan Family. Anyone would agree with this reasoning," Elowen Duncan said proudly, feeling there’s nothing wrong with it. "If my brother doesn’t have money, doesn’t he still have a house? If there’s no money, sell the house. We can go home and live there after. We can’t let the issue of dowry ruin my marriage and make the Duncan Family a laughing stock."

"Heh." Yeats Howard sneered repeatedly at this; even Marcus Quinn felt his heart chill. Luckily, he had never harbored any hope for the Duncan Family, so he wasn’t particularly saddened.

A-Tan glanced at Marcus, noting his steady presence, understanding that he didn’t really want to fall out with the Duncan Family. This man had a deep sense of loyalty; he was so good to her, a stranger in distress, how much more so would he be to his family? Nevertheless, today she had to make Marcus see the ugly side of the Duncan Family to prevent him from repeating the mistakes with the Chase Family.

A-Tan said leisurely, "Elowen Duncan, your brother did indeed have a courtyard house within the second ring of the Imperial City, but half an hour ago, he gifted that courtyard to me as a wedding gift, so he has no house. The Hummer in the garage was a gift from the Howard Family; Marcus only has the right to use it. Now he’s a person with no house and no car, unable to help his siblings; as for retirement, doesn’t your dad have another decade before he retires? When he does, Marcus certainly won’t let him starve."

As soon as A-Tan finished speaking, Elowen Duncan was stunned, screaming, "Marcus, are you out of your mind? That house is worth billions, and you just gave it to this woman? You’re not giving it to your family?"

Even Elowen’s father couldn’t help but step forward and angrily curse, "You ungrateful wretch, what’s the use of raising you? Did you get my approval to give this woman the house? Tear up the contract and get the house back immediately."

"Cousin, even if you don’t want the house, at least sell it. You didn’t give the family a penny; you’re too cold-hearted," shouted the two sons from the uncle’s family.

Marcus: "..."

Marcus’ expression was indifferent, unable to discern disappointment or sadness. Each time, his father, along with his stepsister, would reshape his worldview. The house was a legacy left by his grandfather, who worked hard all his life for it. It had nothing to do with the Duncan Family, the Zamora Family, or the uncle’s family, but these people dared to treat his grandfather’s inheritance as their own and censured him for it.

Seeing Marcus unmoved like a stubborn mule, immune to their scolding, the Duncan Family became increasingly enraged, furiously heading to find the real estate office to get the documents back and cancel the agreement to retrieve the house.
