"Marcus." Ada gasped softly, whispering his name.

Marcus breathed heavily, his body tense, pulling her into the room and pressing her onto the bed, kissing her tirelessly.

Ada watched as the man buried his head in focusing solely on kissing her. Her toes curled from the kisses, and one embarrassing thought lingered in her mind: It’s over, Marcus kissed me into oblivion, are we going to live as husband and wife so soon?

She wasn’t ready.

Fortunately, at the crucial moment, the man suddenly withdrew, his breath unsteady, half-supporting his frame to encapsulate her within his realm, his eyes dark as ink, hoarsely stating, "Today’s not the right time, we’ll wait until we return to the Holiday Village."

He didn’t want to treat the first time after marriage casually, and the current situation was too demanding to let him relax. As soon as Caspian returned to the Yarn Family, he would associate the destruction of the wedding with Ada’s appearance. The Yarn Family would definitely find ways to control Ada and stage a beautiful counterattack, so protective measures were still necessary.

Ada felt as though she had melted into a pool of spring water, the scent of masculinity enveloping her nose and body, initially ready to compromise halfway, but seeing Marcus kiss her into such excitement only to say no, she pouted at him in frustration. What kind of person is this?

Marcus had no resistance to her, seeing her charmingly pout at him, her allure and beauty irresistible, his sexy Adam’s apple moved as he leaned down uncontrollably to continue kissing her. Although he couldn’t touch her, he could still enjoy the benefits.

After whispering intimately, both of their breaths were unstable, but Marcus, with strong self-control, withdrew from the sweet entanglement, got up to take a cold shower, then made arrangements in the yard before preparing dinner.

That night was far from calm; newlyweds, both in their prime, coupled with the tumultuous marital strife between the Yarn Family and the Shaw Family, they couldn’t sleep, didn’t dare to sleep, Ada was held tightly in the man’s embrace all night, feeling his fiery body, too afraid to move, restlessly speaking about her past to Marcus until she fell asleep late at night.

Marcus, on the other hand, didn’t sleep at all, partly because of the tenderness of his cherished wife causing pain all night, and also not daring to let down his guard. Until dawn broke, Yeats called to say Caspian had returned to the Yarn Family.

Caspian had been missing for 14 hours but couldn’t officially be reported as missing within 24 hours, and as daylight broke, he returned unscathed, leaving them at a silent loss.

Marcus hung up the phone, planting a gentle kiss on the forehead of the sweetly sleeping Ada. Since meeting her, he knew he had to care for this girl. But after obtaining the marriage certificate yesterday, looking at the red booklet, Marcus realized that just caring wasn’t enough; he needed strength—only then could he protect his woman.

Meanwhile, Caspian, after being missing for 14 hours, returned to the Yarn Family and learned that during those hours, his mother and father stayed awake the entire night, dispatching people to find his whereabouts while also going to the Shaw Family’s third house to make amends. But the Shaw Family didn’t return all night, declaring the marriage canceled.

Caspian’s mother had waited all night at the Shaw Family’s third house but didn’t see anyone. Early in the morning, she went to the Shaw Mansion. Leah Squire did see her, but was utterly indifferent, leveraging the surveillance of Caspian eloping with a stranger to declare that the Shaw Family couldn’t tolerate such a disgrace, and the marriage wasn’t possible.

Upon receiving news of her son’s return, Caspian’s mother rushed back home, scolding and beating him in a frenzied turmoil.

Caspian was detained for 14 hours, during which he figured out the whole story, realizing he had been schemed against. Expressing no emotion when he learned about the subsequent developments, affirming his suspicions.

What a ruthless Shaw Family, it’s unclear when they found Ada, silently plotting, using the engagement venue to introduce Ada to confuse his mind, then orchestrating his capture and staging a play where the groom eloped and the bride felt insulted, leading both families to cancel the marriage.

This was similar to how he initially designed against Ada.

"Caspian, quickly go to the Shaw Family to explain, now that you’ve come back, and there’s no mistress, ask Lana for forgiveness — there’s still hope for the marriage," Caspian’s mother said unwillingly, not wanting the prized deal to fly away.

"It’s hopeless, didn’t you say the Shaw Family’s third house didn’t return all night? They must have left the Imperial City overnight." Caspian turned to this morning’s paper, seeing it flooded with news of the Yarn and Shaw families’ engagement, alongside the scandal of the groom eloping.

A deep light flickered in Caspian’s eyes; how could they, the Yarn Family, fight against the Shaw Family? It’s clear the Shaw Family wanted to cut ties with them, and Lana’s absence suggests she’s given up on him—no matter how hard he tried, the marriage wouldn’t succeed.

Having lost Lana, he still had Ada.

Caspian recalled the fleeting glimpse of Ada yesterday, whose beauty stunned him. Though the Chase Family’s status couldn’t compare with the Shaw Family, he had no better options now. To salvage his reputation and the persona he had cultivated over the years, he must insist that Ana’s captivity was unrelated to him, and then fulfill the marriage contract to wed Ada.
