So the four of them waited for the water to boil and brew the tea while snacking and chatting.

“Marcus, how come you can even make snacks that girls love?” Yeats Howard tasted a candied kumquat, the flavor was indescribable — sweet, with the taste of kumquat. It invigorated him, feeling very much to his liking.

“My grandfather forced me to learn it, saying that if I encounter a girl I can’t win over in the future, I can make snacks to gain favor,” Marcus Quinn said.

“Haha, Grandfather Quinn has foresight, knowing your personality probably wouldn’t attract girls,” Sage Howard laughed.

“Pfft, you were probably forced to learn cooking by your grandfather since you were born,” Yeats Howard nearly sprayed the kumquat from his mouth.

Marcus pondered seriously and said, “I started learning to cook from my grandfather as soon as I could remember; you could say that.”

“Grandfather Quinn really loves you, afraid he couldn’t protect you after he leaves, that’s why he taught you all his lifelong skills, giving you a skill to rely on,” Sage Howard sighed.

“At this point, I’m extremely jealous of Tara. Dad, if you had made me a girl at birth, there’d basically be no story for Tara Chase,” Yeats Howard complained playfully.

The crowd burst into laughter, and the unhappiness of the day completely dispersed.

Once the water in the kettle boiled, Marcus Quinn got up to brew the tea.

Sage Howard smelled the fragrance of the tea with some intoxication and asked, “Earlier, Yeats said the Duncan Family has swallowed a lot of your assets over the years, many things belonging to your mother and Grandfather Quinn fell into their hands. If you want to take them back, I can act as the intermediary.”

Marcus Quinn, upon hearing this, glanced at Tara Chase, silently inquiring with her. Marcus wasn’t very concerned with external wealth, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so poor before meeting Tara.

After adulthood, he didn’t choose to tear things up with Duncan’s father to reclaim these assets, basically by default allowing them for Duncan’s father’s paternal relationship. But now that he has a wife, Marcus also needs to consider Tara’s thoughts.

After all, the couple’s assets are shared; his things are Tara’s things.

Tara Chase was slightly troubled, seeing the three of them looking at her, she smiled shyly and said, “Do I decide?”

Marcus nodded.

Tara seriously considered and said, “Given the Duncan Family’s aggressive manner of demanding money, it’s obviously quite a challenging task to make them cough up the money they’ve swallowed. Marcus and I don’t have time to stay in the Imperial City and deal with Duncan Family, so the likelihood of getting that money back is slim. However, we can’t just let it go; attack is the best defense, at least make Duncan Family avoid us, no time to cause us trouble.”

“As for mom and grandfather’s inheritance, especially invested assets, they can’t be rushed into reclaiming, find an asset evaluator to do a market survey and assessment first. I’m afraid these might just be empty shells, and taking them over might mean bearing a load of debt.”

After Tara finished speaking, she noticed the way the others looked at her had changed. The three of them — Marcus was a rough guy, Yeats was a Demon King Hun, and Sage Howard was in political circles — were clueless about commerce, all focused on reclaiming assets, without considering that some could be liabilities.

“Did I say something wrong?” Tara said uncomfortably, there was another point she didn’t mention; although Duncan Family had leverage, it’s prudent to guard against people, fearing Duncan Family might stir trouble later, so handle things flexibly.

“No, we’ll listen to you,” Marcus smiled warmly, his eyes filled with laughter.

“Impressive, little sister-in-law, truly living up to your family’s teachings, but if Duncan Family has all these assets mortgaged or hollowed out, are we just going to take the loss and not reclaim them?” Yeats Howard asked.

“Of course, we can’t take this hidden loss. We need to do assessment and investigation; naturally, Duncan Family should bear the burdens,” Tara said sweetly.

“Hahaha,” Sage Howard let out a cheerful laugh, patting Marcus’s shoulder, expressing satisfaction with Tara, praise for her cleverness, Marcus certainly has an eye.

The father and son of the Howard Family drank a pot of tea and then left.

Tara sat in the courtyard and ate the remaining snacks, then when Marcus returned, he bent down to lift her up, holding the back of her head for a deep kiss.

Tara was caught off guard by the kiss, feeling weak all over, flushed like a shrimp, but being held by Marcus, without any support, she could only hang on him like a koala, feeling the man’s suppressed passionate deep kiss.
