the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1676: Mess to Clean Up
Faced with Yeats Howard’s excitement, as if he feared the world was not chaotic enough, Marcus Quinn’s gaze fell directly on the tea table carved from a camphor tree root. He picked up the notebook that Leah had been scribbling in earlier, glanced at it, and then said, “Let’s focus on retrieving Grandpa’s assets first. As for the Yarn Family, Imperial City isn’t their turf. Even if they take a hard hit, they can just retreat to Seacoast.”
Marcus Quinn’s life creed is a single decisive strike.
“Alright, retrieving assets isn’t a bad thing either. I’ll head to the Shaw Family and inquire about the situation, see if I can put some pressure on and let the Yarn Family hurry up and leave Imperial City, to avoid being an eyesore,” Yeats Howard said excitedly. “When are we taking on the Duncan Family?”
“It’s we, not just you,” Marcus Quinn glanced at him lightly and said, “The Howard Family shouldn’t get involved to avoid claims of bullying or official complaints.”
Everyone mingles in the political circle and has their small groups, and if this blows up, it could trigger a small-scale skirmish.
“Then I’ll have to spectate to ensure you guys aren’t bullied,” Yeats Howard chuckled.
Marcus Quinn didn’t respond, which was a silent consent. He looked at Leah and saw that she didn’t look well, so he reached out and held her small hand, saying, “Don’t worry.”
Leah nodded and said, “Then let’s have dinner at Fragrance Tower tonight and check things out.”
Marcus Quinn naturally nodded.
Marcus Quinn and Yeats Howard approached it from both ends. Yeats Howard went to the Shaw Family to find Leah Squire, while Marcus Quinn found Lawyer Wei, who was previously in charge of his grandfather’s inheritance, to consult on how much of the inheritance they could retrieve. In his grandfather’s later years, he invested a large sum in Anfield Village’s agricultural production, leaving him one house in Imperial City. The most valuable remaining asset was Fragrance Tower, although it wasn’t entirely his grandfather’s; he only had an 80% stake.
“Mr. Quinn, I’m afraid your grandfather’s estate only has Fragrance Tower left to retrieve. Over the years, Mr. Duncan has been selling off Mr. Quinn’s assets with documents bearing your signature and Mr. Quinn’s seal. If not for the clause in the will stating that the tower should never be sold, only passed to the next generation, it might have been sold already,” Lawyer Wei quickly responded.
Marcus Quinn frowned at the words and asked in a deep voice, “What legal procedures are necessary to retrieve Fragrance Tower?”
“None, you’ve already voluntarily inherited Fragrance Tower since adulthood, and the formalities were completed long ago,” Lawyer Wei said. “If there’s any issue, just call me, I have related documents on hand.”
“Thank you,” Marcus Quinn murmured in thanks.
While Marcus Quinn was on the phone, Leah listened nearby and understood roughly. As she saw him hang up, she couldn’t help but sigh. This rugged man really didn’t understand managing assets. Thankfully, old Mr. Quinn had been cautious, or the inheritance might have been entirely gone.
As for old Mr. Quinn’s assets, from what was gleaned from the legal team, even his mother’s assets were mostly sold, leaving little. Fortunately, she hadn’t expected to recover much.
“Leah, I’m sorry,” Marcus Quinn said hoarsely, feeling somewhat gloomy.
Leah smiled slightly, reaching out to hug him. Her small hand gently patted the man’s back as she said, “Marcus is good at making money, we can just work hard ourselves.”
Marcus Quinn’s frame shook, and he held her tightly in his arms, nearly squeezing her waist.
Leah was enveloped in his potent masculine aura, her chest squeezed so tightly she could barely breathe. She smiled as she saw the towering man bury his head in her neck, tickling her, “That tickles, Marcus, behave. Let me take you out to eat.”
Marcus Quinn: “…”
The man’s melancholic and frustrated mood was immediately swept away by her playful words. He lifted his head, staring deeply at her, then leaned down and kissed her fiercely. The kiss was deep, making Leah feel not only ticklish but also weak and breathless, so she moaned softly, begging for mercy.
Marcus Quinn is in his prime, only his extraordinary self-control prevented him from pushing her to the floor. But this intimate contact dissolved his gloomy mood.
They drove to Fragrance Tower ahead of schedule, avoiding rush hour, having arranged to meet Yeats Howard there.
Fragrance Tower is an established restaurant in Imperial City. Initially, it was positioned as high-end dining, so its location wasn’t in a prime area. However, after decades of urban development, its site is now considered prime.
Using navigation, they located Fragrance Tower. Leah saw that the tower was flanked by a park on the left and opposite a large mall. The old-fashioned, two-story building stood beside the park, exuding unique charm with its antique style, attracting a lot of attention.
Leah couldn’t help but marvel; the location and architectural style were quite prestigious, a testament to old Mr. Quinn’s discerning choice of property back in the day.
