As the various Skeleton Teams advanced toward the position held by Bone Forest, Crow’s Caw used the White Crows to give Gu Su a live broadcast of the latest battle situation.

Gu Su could only hear the noise, completely unable to sense the atmosphere on the front lines.

However, on the front lines, the situation was not as simple as the reports from the White Crows suggested.

Bone Forest had cornered the Kobolds outside their lair, but he chose not to fight in the sewers.

Instead, he positioned the battlefield on the surface.

After the last few battles, Bone Forest was well aware of how elusive these Kobolds, with their Red Balloons, were in a god-forsaken place like the sewers.

Fighting in the sewers, he would most likely be at a disadvantage.

Only by luring the enemies to the surface could he hope to eliminate the most of them with the fewest casualties.

Their current position was directly above the Kobold lair.

By simply opening the manhole cover, they could see the main entrance to the Kobold lair.

Bone Forest had spent a great deal of time selecting this specific location.

If it weren’t for some of the White Crows being able to navigate the narrow passages, they might never have found this spot.

But now that they had, the situation was completely different.

Bone Forest’s thinking was simple. Hadn’t Gu Su sent some Magic Skeletons earlier?

He would use them now to bombard the main entrance of the Kobold lair below.

All he needed to do was provoke the Kobolds.

If the Kobolds dared to emerge from the sewers, they would witness the power of Bone Forest’s Assassination Talent.

Bone Forest just hadn’t expected Gu Su to come through so strongly this time, sending so many reinforcements.

Especially with two Corpse Witches among them.

This completely changed Bone Forest’s approach.

He glanced at Snake Fang and let out a sly chuckle.

There was one thing Snake Fang knew very well: the Kobolds’ resistance to poison wasn’t actually that high.

With Corpse Witches who could use poison on hand, they could adopt a completely different strategy.

Use poison.

When Bone Forest laid out his plan, the two Corpse Witches had no objections.

They even suggested another approach.

Specifically, that the best way to poison the sewers was with toxic smoke.

After all, if they just poured liquid poison down, there was no telling if it would even reach the Kobolds.

Applying it to weapons would require them to actually land a hit on a Kobold.

Even with a Poison Gas Bomb, it would only take out one target at a time.

But toxic smoke was different. All they had to do was find suitable Poisonous Grass, light it, and throw it down.

As long as there was enough of it and the toxic smoke rose quickly, the effect on the enemy would be devastating.

So, the moment the Corpse Witches suggested this, Bone Forest immediately caught on.

"Yes, and we can block the other nearby sewer entrances so the Poisonous Qi can’t escape. We’ll smoke them for an hour or two, then lure out any survivors and finish them off."

The two Corpse Witches nodded in agreement.

This was exactly what they had in mind.

At that, Bone Forest said to them, "It’s settled, then. You two are the masters when it comes to poisons, so I’ll leave the choice of toxins to you."

"Take all the Skeletons here and go gather what you need from the nearby woods."

"I have only one requirement: poison every last Kobold to death."

The words had barely left his mouth when the two Corpse Witches nodded in unison. Possessing the Herbalism - Poison and Alchemy - Poison Skills, identifying and selecting Poisonous Grass was practically instinct for them.

Without needing further orders from Bone Forest, the two Corpse Witches headed off in different directions. They began by collecting samples of what they needed, then had the Skeletons gather more based on those samples.

The first plant they gathered was Rotting Heart Grass, which had dark green leaves edged with fine thorns. When crushed, the leaves released a pungent, foul odor. The toxic smoke it produced upon being burned caused dizziness and difficulty breathing, making it a perfect counter for communal creatures of average stamina like the Kobolds.

Next, the Corpse Witches found several Black Stem Vines twined in the corner of a wall. The vine’s sap was black as ink, and it was more toxic than the Rotting Heart Grass. Even a small amount, when burned, produced a toxic smoke that could seep through clothing and create a burning sensation on the skin. To the Kobolds, who spent all their time in the sewers and likely had numerous cuts and scrapes, this posed a fatal threat.

The Corpse Witches also made a point of finding the pistils of the Gray Down Flower.

This small flower looked inconspicuous with its grayish-white petals, but its toxin was lingering. Burned alone, its smoke was weak, but when mixed with Rotting Heart Grass and Black Stem Vine, it could significantly prolong the duration of the toxic smoke. Best of all, it was abundant and easy to find.

The Skeletons could easily find vast patches of it.

The last thing they found was a weed called plainsgrass. This weed wasn’t a Poisonous Grass; its only property was producing a great deal of smoke when burned.

It also didn’t interfere with the toxicity of other plants.

As long as you mixed in Poisonous Grass or other toxins, the smoke would carry their properties.

Whatever Poisonous Grass was added, the smoke would carry its exact toxicity, unaltered.

Therefore, this plainsgrass was the key to the entire operation.

After all, they couldn’t just focus on this one point; many other sewer exits needed to be blocked.

Relying on the Poisonous Grass alone wouldn’t produce smoke for long enough. They needed a massive amount of fuel to generate the toxic smoke.

The great thing about plainsgrass was that it produced thick smoke that didn’t disperse easily.

So, very quickly, the Skeletons gathered large quantities of the Poisonous Grass.

Snake Fang stood to one side, watching as the Corpse Witches methodically sorted and processed the collected Poisonous Grass. A flicker of apprehension crossed its eyes.

Although it was also skilled with poisons, it was nowhere near as professional as these two Corpse Witches. Their judgment of the properties of the Poisonous Grass and their precision in every detail of harvesting and processing were flawless.

Meanwhile, Bone Forest stood at the manhole entrance with his hands clasped behind his back, communicating with the White Crows.

He needed to have all entrances and exits in the area covered, or failing that, blocked.

This was the only way to ensure the toxic smoke would be widespread enough to engulf the entire sewer lair.

About half an hour later, everything was in place. Under Bone Forest’s command, the Ordinary Skeletons were divided into fifteen squads of five. Each squad carried about twenty pounds of plainsgrass, a portion of the prepared Poisonous Grass, and was accompanied by one Magic Skeleton.

They would go to their designated positions, drop off these Poisonous Grasses, and pile them into small mounds.

The role of the Magic Skeletons was to use a Poison Gas Bomb to ignite the piles of grass.

The rest of the forces were ready and waiting at the main manhole entrance.

Once the toxic smoke began to rise from the other exits, the Corpse Witches would light these Poisonous Grasses and throw them all down.

This way, it wouldn’t matter how strong the Kobolds were.

Once they sealed the manhole cover, they could poison even a Giant Dragon to death.

And even if some Kobolds managed to charge out, it would be futile. Bone Forest’s troops were already lying in ambush.

Coming up would just be another way to die.

After arranging all his units, Bone Forest finally turned to the Corpse Witches.
