Upon hearing the order, the two Corpse Witches immediately tossed a Poison Gas Bomb at the pile of grass covering the sewer entrance.

The pale green bomb landed on the pile of grass—a mix of Poisonous Grass and common plains grass—and shattered instantly. Wisps of a pungent, acrid odor escaped first, followed by a thick cloud of white smoke that began to rise from the pile.

The smoke roiled and spread, carrying faint traces of grayish-black Poisonous Qi. From a distance, it looked like a dense bank of fog.

The Skeletons swiftly advanced. Moving in perfect unison, they grabbed the smoldering pile of grass and threw it all down into the sewer.

The moment the pile fell into the sewer, a few muffled whimpers echoed from within. Clearly, some Kobolds who couldn’t dodge in time had been choked by the poisonous smoke.

After tossing in the grass, the Skeletons worked without a moment’s delay. They thoughtfully replaced the sewer cover, then quickly bent down, dug up the surrounding soil, and piled it on top layer by layer. They packed the earth down firmly before straightening up and falling back into formation, ready for their next command.

With that done, all the Ordinary Skeletons, armed with simple weapons, formed a ring around the sewer entrance. They gripped their weapons tightly, the spectral flames in their eye sockets flickering. Though their bodies were still, they radiated an air of total vigilance. Despite the surrounding silence, not a single Skeleton showed the slightest sign of letting its guard down.

Meanwhile, Bone Forest led the combat squads under his command and silently moved into the nearby woods, using the thick tree trunks and dense undergrowth to conceal their forms.

His figure was tall and straight, his bones gleaming with a lustrous, porcelain-white sheen. The square, red-patterned black banner on his back swayed gently. The spectral fire in his eyes was focused and steady as he stared intently at the sewer entrance.

He held a sharp bone longsword at an angle, his fingertips applying slight pressure. He was clearly ready for an ambush. The aura of his Assassination Talent silently spread around him as he waited for the perfect moment to strike.

The Corpse Witches and Magic Skeletons had also retreated to the edge of a nearby clearing, maintaining a safe distance from the battlefield.

The two Corpse Witches stood side by side, faint Death Qi and Poisonous Qi swirling around them. Red light glinted in their eyes as they occasionally lowered their heads to whisper to each other, apparently assessing how the poisonous smoke was spreading within the sewer.

Led by two Minions, the Magic Skeletons stood in neat ranks, faint magical halos gathering in their palms, ready to respond to any unexpected situations.

They waited like this for about ten minutes. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves in the forest. Other than the faint scraping of the Skeletons’ Bone Joints, there was no other sound.

An ordinary person, faced with such dead silence, might have assumed the poison gas attack had failed and would have been unable to resist moving closer to investigate.

But for the Undead, such a short wait was nothing. They showed no impatience and no negligence, remaining in their original positions as steadfastly as statues.

Until Gu Su gave the order, they could wait indefinitely—until the very moment the enemy appeared.

After another seven or eight minutes, there was finally some movement from the sewer.

From the sewer entrance, buried and packed down by the Undead, came a heavy THUD THUD THUD. The sound was muffled and frantic, each blow laced with a desperate force.

Once, twice... The pounding grew louder and more frequent. It was clear the Kobolds inside could no longer withstand the corrosive smoke and were frantically trying to break through the entrance to get fresh air and escape.

At this, all the Undead snapped to attention.

The spectral fire that had been gently flickering in their eye sockets flared violently, and the aura around them grew sharp. The Ordinary Skeletons in the front rank raised their weapons, ready to deliver a fatal blow the moment the Kobolds broke through.

In the next instant, the ground above the sewer entrance rapidly bulged upward. The earth cracked and heaved, followed by a violent explosion.

BOOM! A massive spray of soil and fragments of the shattered sewer cover flew in all directions.

Amid the explosion, a dozen or so Red Balloons slowly rose, dragging a group of staggering Kobolds out of the sewer.

These Kobolds all had grotesque clown faces painted on, the pigment streaked and mottled by sweat and blood, making them look exceptionally bizarre.

Most of the Kobolds who emerged were able-bodied Kobold Warriors. They had burly physiques and knotted muscles, beings who should have been formidable in a fight. Now, however, their skin was clearly ulcerated and blackened. It was peeling off in many places, revealing swollen, red flesh underneath. Black saliva trickled from the corners of their mouths, their eyes were unfocused, and they looked completely listless. Their steps were so unsteady it seemed they would collapse at any moment.

If not for the Red Balloons supporting them and pulling them forward, they might not have been able to move at all. They had clearly been severely afflicted by the poisonous smoke.

The moment the Kobolds emerged, the Skeletons in the front could no longer hold back. With a collective shriek, they charged forward with their weapons and swung down on the weakened Kobold Warriors.

The sharp Bone Blades sliced through the Kobolds’ ulcerated skin, meeting almost no resistance. Blood and black poison gushed out, splattering onto the Skeletons’ bones with a faint SIZZLING sound.

In the end, these Kobold Warriors, who normally could have held their own against Skeleton Warriors, didn’t even have a chance to resist. They lacked the strength to even raise their arms to block. One by one, they fell to the ground, their necks severed by the Skeletons, until they were all lifeless.

At that moment, Bone Forest, who was hidden in the woods, immediately sensed that something was wrong.

Unlike the other Undead, he did not rush out to reap the spoils. Instead, he slowly raised a hand, stopping an eager Elite Skeleton beside him. He remained hidden behind the tree trunk, staring at the sewer entrance from afar, the spectral fire in his eyes flickering with vigilance and caution.

’In his eyes, these charging Kobold Warriors looked more like bait sent to test the waters.’

Just as he expected, a barrage of Fireballs suddenly shot out from the sewer entrance. Each one carried a searing heat, cutting through the air with a WHOOSHING sound as they accurately slammed into the attacking Ordinary Skeletons.

A series of loud explosions, BOOM! BOOM!, echoed one after another. The moment the Fireballs landed, flames erupted and a heatwave rolled out. The Skeletons that couldn’t dodge in time were instantly blown to smithereens, their white bone fragments scattering across the ground.

After the Fireballs dissipated, about thirty Kobold Warlocks emerged, flying out slowly. They were clustered together, cautiously guarding a massive Kobold.

These Kobold Warlocks were slender, each with two Red Balloons attached to their back. They wore tattered gray robes and also had clown makeup on their faces. In their hands, they held simple Wooden Staffs tipped with dim red Crystal Stones. A faint halo of Flame Magic surrounded them as their eyes darted around warily, ready to cast a defensive spell at a moment’s notice.

They were clearly different from the previous Kobold Warlocks; these must be the Kobold Leader’s personal guard.

The giant Kobold being protected in the center sat on a wooden throne, held aloft by more than a dozen Red Balloons.

The throne was crude and shabby, covered in filth and bloodstains. The Kobold’s body was so obese that the rolls of fat on his belly seemed to merge with the throne itself. He was completely still, and only the slight rise and fall of his chest proved he was still alive.

He held a rust-covered dagger, short but sharp, its edge stained with black blood. The clown makeup on his face was even more bizarre than the others’, with upturned lips and sinister eyes that gave him a profoundly strange appearance. An air of command quietly emanated from him.

After emerging from the sewer, the giant Kobold first turned its head slightly, its ghostly green gaze sweeping over the surrounding woods and clearings. Then, it raised a fat arm and, with a filth-stained finger, pointed in a direction away from the forest and toward the distant barrens. A low, muffled roar escaped its mouth, as if issuing a command.

Hearing the command, the surrounding Kobold Warlocks immediately understood. They raised their Wooden Staffs, the halos of Flame Magic in their palms growing more intense. While warily scanning their surroundings for an Undead ambush, they clustered around the giant Kobold and quickly rushed in the direction he had pointed.

Anyone could see that this giant Kobold on the balloon throne was the leader of this group. It currently had no intention of fighting the Undead; its only thought was to escape this dangerous place as quickly as possible and save its own skin.
