Nathalie just looked at her, the corners of her lips quirking up in a half-smile as she lifted her duckbill cap, revealing a pair of pretty dry, annoyed eyes: "I’m not going back to the Kingsleys Family."

The big rock pressing on Zevaney’s heart finally moved aside. She impatiently invited Nathalie to cooperate with her: "Since you’re not going back, I don’t want The First Research Institute either. Us working together is a win–win situation!"

"I’m not done talking." Nathalie paused, then raised her head, exposing a sharp, icy jawline, her features hard and cutting as she looked at her with mocking eyes: "Zevaney, you don’t actually think I don’t know where that experiment project you mentioned came from, do you?"

Zevaney’s expression changed slightly. She stopped blocking the way and quickly cooled her face, putting on an air: "I’m just giving you this opportunity. If you don’t want to cooperate, forget it."

"Alright." Nathalie gave her a once-over from head to toe, looking like she couldn’t be bothered to argue, then stepped around her and left.

Watching the girl’s back as she walked away without hesitation, a wave of inexplicable unease rose in Zevaney’s heart. She clenched her palm and called out to the person about to leave: "Nathalie."

The person walking ahead showed no sign of stopping, only leaving her with a cold, sharp back view, not responding to her at all.

Seeing that reaction made Zevaney’s heart sink even further. She shouted at the fading back: "The First Research Institute is bound to decline sooner or later. You’d better think over the suggestion I gave you."

The girl walked on without even looking back.

As if her words were no different from farting!

...

Nathalie walked out of the restaurant and had just taken out her phone, planning to make a phone call, when she ran into a man and a woman head-on.

She slipped the phone back, a little surprised.

Emma spotted her too, dropped the man next to her and walked toward Nathalie: "Boss, what are you doing here?"

She stretched her neck to peek inside, then looked back at the girl, speaking in a not-so-sure tone: "Out on a date?"

"No."

Nathalie figured Zevaney would be coming out right after.

She didn’t want to run into that kind of self-righteous idiot again, so she lifted her eyes and said, "Let’s head out first, we’ll talk later."

Sadam followed right behind them.

Seeing Nathalie, he was a bit surprised too. He thought Amadeus Yancey would be nearby, so he craned his neck, looking around for a long time but didn’t see him.

"Nathalie, you’re here—where’s Amadeus?"

Nathalie left the restaurant with Emma first and found a spot where they could sit down. Emma ordered two glasses of water and brought them over, then pulled out a chair and sat.

From the moment she sat down, Nathalie took a black laptop out of her single shoulder bag and booted it up, lowering her head like she was talking to someone.

Sadam and Emma sat across from her, just watching the girl’s fingers tap out grids across the keyboard.

Emma had long since gotten used to it.

Sadam, however, couldn’t help being amazed by her typing speed every time he saw it.

Nathalie merely logged into a piece of software and sent a message to the person on the other end.

The reply came back quickly.

Just a very concise "OK."

She withdrew her line of sight, closed the chat window, and snapped the computer shut in one smooth motion.

Emma waited until she was done before asking: "Boss, did you run into something?"

"No."

Nathalie closed the laptop, slipped it back into her bag, pulled up the zipper, and answered carelessly: "I’m going to take something back."

Emma’s mouth twitched as she remembered the big move she’d pulled not long ago.

Back then Nathalie had also told her she was going to take something back.

The result was, she turned around and dragged Emma with her to storm into the Kingsleys Family punishment hall single-handedly, and actually managed to find the USB flash drive Lynette Kingsley had left behind.

...And now Nathalie was saying she was taking something back again.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that Inderia was about to be turned upside down again.
