"I think I have told you the same thing countless times, yet I will be generous enough to remind you once again."

Leaning back in his chair, Nemur observed his little brother with an impassive gaze.

The both of them were currently seated in the office—

"Do not try to be a hero, Zenur, and do not interfere in the matters of the world if you had been dead set on not getting involved in any of it for the past centuries."

Nemur’s words had no emotion in them whatsoever, and judging by the reaction on Zenur’s face... it was clear that he wasn’t surprised by them.

A small table was the only thing that separated the two monsters from each other, as both of them stared into the eyes of their sibling.

"I am not getting involved in anything."

Speaking the words, Zenur leaned forward before placing his hands on the table, his eyes having no fear despite knowing that he was in the presence of a Sovereign and someone who was one of the best in the world at that.

"He is my student, and as his instructor, it is my duty—"

"Who are you trying to fool?"

The question was asked in a calm voice, yet the intensity of the words left the room enveloped in a cold silence.

"I am doing what I think is the right thing to do. And brother, if you have any objection to my actions, then you are free to punish me however you may please. But—"

Zenur paused as he narrowed his eyes with his fists clenched together in restrained anger.

"If you try to interfere in Kael’s life, then—"

"Then?"

Nemur repeated the word as if to dare his younger brother to complete his threat or whatever it was.

Zenur didn’t respond... at least not immediately, as he stared into his brother’s eyes with some lost emotion.

"The fact that we share the same blood will be forgotten by my soul."

"..."

Silence.

The temperature in the room dropped down, while at the same time it felt like the very fabric of reality was about to tear apart as a thick film of some unknown element began to ooze out of Nemur’s body.

It first covered the area around him, including the very existence of mana in the air that was currently trapped in the room.

The film of the unknown element then went on to cover Zenur from all sides—

"Be careful of what you do, brother... I really am in no mood to entertain your actions today."

Zenur spoke with the same ease as before, as he briefly glanced at the film that was trying to cover his body but was stopped by a translucent barrier of mana that had appeared out of nowhere.

"You will go against your blood for a mere kid?"

Seeing the determined look in his younger brother’s eyes, Nemur paused his actions, though he didn’t withdraw their aftermath.

"Mere kid?... You sure are being fun, brother."

Getting up from his seat, the translucent barrier of mana around Zenur expanded itself before clearly defining the boundary for the headmaster of the academy.

"If that kid was so meaningless, then why have you gone out of your way to become his guardian?"

"..."

"This is the last time that I will be informing you as your brother. I respect you... not for what you have done in your life but simply for being someone who is older than me."

Saying the words, Zenur turned around, but the film of the unknown element didn’t let him leave.

After all... he was in the presence of a Sovereign, and without getting permission, even his soul wouldn’t be able to leave the area, let alone his living body.

"I can understand your reasoning for preventing Kael from aligning with the Blacks, but what I can’t exactly figure out is the reason for suggesting the kid to visit his house."

Zenur didn’t turn around, though the slight change in his expression was proof enough that he had heard the words that were directed at him.

"Why did you send him to meet Castor, or is it that you are aiming for the Frosts to actively intervene in the war?"

The question remained suspended in the air, and the silence extended for more than a couple of seconds before Zenur finally turned around.

"Why? Are you scared that their Sovereigns will finally step in?"

Zenur’s words were a clear attempt at provocation, and despite being a cool-headed guy, he couldn’t help but speak such words, as he wanted to make certain things clear with his brother, who for the entirety of his life... had never liked the taste of defeat.

"You certainly are being a lot more bold today. Do you think Audrey will save you like before—"

"Please, brother... don’t try to needlessly involve sister in it."

Zenur interrupted Nemur’s words while completely dismissing them at the same time.

Looking at his face... it appeared like he was now bored standing in the office, and wanted to simply leave the place so as to not see his brother’s unpleasant face.

"You disappoint me, Zenur... you really do."

After a brief silence, Nemur uttered the words in a voice that was closer to a whisper.

While at the same time, the film that had been released from Nemur’s body retracted towards its origin before completely disappearing from the room.

A cool breeze of wind once again blew from the adjacent window, marking the withdrawal of Nemur’s domain.

"You are misunderstanding me, brother."

"..."

"Neither do I care for what you think, nor have I ever tried to impress you."

Nemur simply narrowed his eyes, though he didn’t utter any sort of counter to Zenur’s words.

"Get lost, and pray to the gods for your wellbeing."

Saying the words, Nemur opened the drawer of the table before him before taking some papers out of it.

"Gods?... Those fools will have to pray for themselves, lest they be burned in their own flames."
