The Villainess Is My Cute Daughter

Chapter 196: Draven, Above You!!

Chapter 196: Draven, Above You!!

He needed to aim properly. He needed to manually control the chakrams to quickly change their directions mid flight because the monsters were constantly moving around. To actually hit his moving targets, he needed to make the chakrams twist and turn. It was either that, or he had to predict where they’d be in the next second.

Due to this, he needed to use his telekinesis actively to control it.

And because of this active aiming, he also needed to use a massive amount of mental processing power. He needed to put a lot more attention on what he was doing.

Due to this heavy mental strain, it actually severely affected his limit of how many rings he could safely use without it having too much of a negative impact.

He realized quickly that with five chakrams spinning defensively around him, he could only safely use exactly two extra chakrams to actively control them to a level where his accuracy was acceptable.

Two offensive rings was something that he was comfortable with. But trying to juggle three extra chakrams outside the defensive ring completely broke his focus. His accuracy and control over the mana was negatively affected and on top of that, he also couldn’t put his mind into keeping track of everything at once.

Because for rotating the defensive chakrams, he just needed to maintain a stable thickness for his mana threads. But when it came to actively throwing the offensive chakrams out, he needed to constantly change the thickness while it was flying.

He could theoretically just use a thicker, stronger strand for everything. But this would only bring back the exact same problem of using way too much mana.

Because what was the point of wasting so much mana on incredibly thick threads for a less efficient method of aiming and attacking, when he could just use that exact same mana to make the defensive spinning ring much bigger?

The entire reason he even switched to the aiming method was because he could conserve his mana reserves more efficiently.

So as he rapidly thought about his strategies and options, he immediately brought back three of the chakrams that he was struggling to aim and shoot.

So at the end of the adjustment, he had five chakrams just spinning tightly around him to keep him totally safe from close combat. And then there were exactly two more that he was actively using to snipe targets and help the struggling soldiers.

Whenever a massive monster was about to kill a soldier or deal a lot of heavy damage to the shield wall, Adrian just sent one ring flying forward and killed it off with a single hit.

Though, he did actually kill multiple monsters at the exact same time with a single throw. Because the heavy steel chakrams effortlessly cut through everything in their flight path. So the overall kill efficiency was not really bad at all.

And it was also significantly helping the soldiers hold their ground behind him. They could keep defending for quite a while if this continued and Adrian could predict that.

It was actively helping them keep their morale high. Because an absolute powerhouse was standing right there with them.

The young recruits were visibly shaking in their boots, but they did not break formation. They just gripped their heavy shields tighter and screamed right back at the monster horde. Pure adrenaline kept them going and even though the situation was desperate, Adrian could clearly see the raw, burning determination in their eyes.

And Adrian himself did not really want them to lose their lives today.

Because these were his guys. He had put a massive amount of time and money into training them to get to where they were right now. Even though he did not personally train them in the training grounds, he did take good care of them.

He provided them with great food and other benefits for free. To him, they were his people, and he did not want to see any of them die.

And due to this protective drive, he just stayed right there in front of the defensive wall. He held the defensive line with them while Sigrid and Draven pushed out and killed the monsters far away.

But as this brutal fighting was happening, Adrian noticed something wrong.

He looked straight up.

The sky was totally clear just ten minutes ago. It was a perfect, bright blue and it had a few fluffy looking white clouds up in the sky before the fighting started.

But now, after just around ten minutes of fighting, the sky was completely different.

It went from bright and sunny to being completely, oppressively blocked off. The clouds overhead had a light grayish color. And he could clearly see that there were more thick clouds just converging in the sky. These newer clouds were much darker than the light gray ones that were currently above him.

Adrian instantly screamed at Draven across the battlefield.

"Lord Draven!" Adrian yelled. "Look above you!"

But due to the thousands of monsters just roaring, screeching, and with all the swords and shields clashing, Draven could not even hear him.

So Adrian put a little bit of effort and to trigger his voice amplification magic.

With the voice amplification magic active, his voice could now be clearly heard.

"Lord Draven!" Adrian yelled again. "I need a fireball! Throw it straight up into the sky!"

Draven nodded and did exactly what he was told to do.

"On it!" Draven’s voice boomed back and Adrian heard it clearly.

And to Adrian’s complete surprise, Draven’s voice was pretty clear and loud. He could instantly tell that Draven was using the exact same amplification spell that Adrian was using, even though this specific spell was something that Adrian had custom created himself.

But it was not really that surprising. Because the voice application was actually pretty simple to figure out.

All he had to do was overcharge his voice box and his throat with pure mana.
