Chapter 197: Fire Is Love
Chapter 197: Fire Is Love
All he had to do was overcharge his voice box and his throat with pure mana. Then he just had to construct a thin magical filter, like a transparent sheet of mana, right in front of his mouth.
So whenever he spoke, the physical vibrations from his throat would come out and connect directly to the sheet of mana hovering in front of his lips.
This was just normal, physical sound produced by the vibrations of his vocal cords. But it was directly connected to the mana thread, which was connected to the magically amplified vocal cords.
And due to this flawless connection, thanks to the raw mana, this invisible sheet acted exactly like a massive magical speaker.
The amplified voice that went out also traveled directly through the mana. Invisible magical threads were sent out in multiple different directions, and the loud sound came out directly from these threads.
And due to this specific delivery method, the volume and the clarity of the voice were never lost over long distances. As long as these invisible threads were hovering near the people that Adrian wanted to talk to, they were able to hear him perfectly clear even if there was too much noise nearby.
And since these were just regular, basic mana threads, they did not have to be heavy or thick at all. Because unlike the heavy telekinesis magic, there was no physical weight to lift.
And due to this lack of physical strain, the threads could be extremely thin.
So the overall mana efficiency of using this communication spell was insanely high. It barely used any of his internal mana at all.
And since Adrian could just pull these threads back and instantly absorb the residual mana back into his body, the actual cost of using the spell was basically zero.
And even though his physical casting range was officially limited, he could still push these thin threads to the maximum limit of what his rank allowed. And from that edge, he could still push a little bit more raw mana to forcefully amplify the volume.
So even if the target was standing way too far away, and the threads were not able to physically reach them, the aplified voice was still loud enough to easily reach the place.
That was basically the core theory behind the spell.
And based on how Draven just used the exact same spell, Adrian could easily tell that the Marquis had successfully engineered his own unique derivation of the trick.
Adrian just grinned widely as he heard Draven’s reply.
By the time Adrian finished analyzing the magic, he saw that Draven already had a swirling fireball hovering right on his open palm.
It was just a highly concentrated sphere, roughly the size of a standard basketball.
The exact moment Adrian saw that Draven was ready to hurl it into the sky, Adrian immediately dropped all of his active chakrams. The sharp steel rings fell to the ground while he jumped back behind the line of soldiers.
"Hold the ground!" Adrian ordered them loudly.
Then he rapidly gathered his mana and triggered his own Gust spell. He aggressively powered the wind magic up to his highest limit.
He forced the winds to spiral violently in a single, tight direction, instead of pushing the air in two opposing directions to create a chaotic concentrated ball that would explode. He formed an invisible, twisting ball of wind.
He threw the concentrated ball of wind straight up toward the sky.
He aimed it perfectly toward the rising fireball, which was already flying upwards rapidly thanks to Draven hurling it with all of his physical strength.
The two magical spheres collided high in the gray sky.
And instantly, Adrian just forcefully took absolute control over the fireball spell.
Because unlike Draven, who just poured his raw mana into a spell and physically threw it away, Adrian kept his invisible mana strand firmly connected to his wind spell.
Due to this connection, he knew exactly how to hijack and take control over stray, unanchored mana in the environment. And since Draven’s fireball was basically just a ball of stray, disconnected mana at this point, Adrian easily seized control over the flames.
And what he did next was brutally simple.
He just forced the two different elements to interact with each other. He did not make them merge, no. It was more like a chaotic physical interaction.
It was basically just using physics.
The fireball was just hovering there. And the exact moment the twisting Gust spell violently slammed into the flames, the wind rapidly expanded outward.
It immediately formed a massive, twisting tornado in the sky. The vortex forcefully sucked in all of the oxygen around it. And from this massive influx of air, the entire wind funnel just completely lit up in blinding, red hot flames.
But a massive fire like this did not just consume pure oxygen. It also desperately needed raw fuel to keep burning.
So Adrian aggressively fed it his own mana, which acted like a fuel.
These flames were being forcefully powered by both the oxygen in the air and the raw mana from Adrian.
And due to this combination, the flaming tornado was ridiculously big. It was the exact same towering size as the tornado he had used during the last invasion.
The only major difference this time was the speed.
Adrian actively forced this new tornado to move faster than the previous one.
During the last attack, his main aim was to basically cook the monsters completely, or burn them so severely that they were dead.
But this time? He just wanted to inflict slightly serious, crippling injuries. He just wanted to weaken the horde.
He knew exactly how much of a devastating psychological and physical effect the fire could have on these monsters based on the last fight.
So he figured that just spending a little bit of time burning the monsters was going to be more than enough to keep them completely out of the battle. Because their bodies were still going to be covered in agonizing burns.
