Chapter 210: The Elven Trio
Chapter 210: The Elven Trio
Adrian continued scouting the forest through his system interface.
He moved the invisible magical camera through the trees and he just kept sweeping the area systematically. After about two or three minutes of searching, he finally found them.
There was a man standing casually in a small clearing. And the first thing Adrian noticed was that this guy was an absolute giant. He was easily over eight feet tall.
And right beside him were two females. One of them was almost the exact same height as the tall man and the other female was much shorter, standing at maybe five foot six inches.
Adrian zoomed the camera in and studied their faces. He immediately noticed that these people looked very different from regular humans.
The shorter girl had long ears that pointed diagonally upward toward the back of her skull. But the two giants had ears that extended completely outward to the sides in a horizontal line.
’So there is an elf and two high elves here.’ Adrian thought to himself in complete shock.
He just stared at the screen. Seeing these three standing together in the forest immediately gave him a wild theory.
Because the lore of this world was very clear on this topic. In the timeline of the novel, regular elves were pure monsters. As for high elves, they were supposed to be completely extinct. He had no idea how the two high elves were even standing there breathing.
But as for the regular elf girl, he had a very solid theory.
’What is an elf even doing out here?’ Adrian asked himself. ’Wait. Is she one of the monsters that the dungeon produced?’
Regular elves were hunted down by humans centuries ago. They were completely decimated and wiped off the planet for the most part. There were only two possible ways that anyone could ever see or find an elf in this era.
One option was finding a hidden group of elves living in an extremely isolated place. But those hidden groups always lived in large communities. There was no such thing as an individual elf wandering around by herself.
And the second option was the chance of a dungeon actually spawning them.
Adrian knew the mechanics of how the dungeons worked. If there was just a single elf, or a tiny group of two or three elves hanging around, it only meant one thing. That specific elf was basically spawned by a dungeon core.
Which meant this short elf girl was most likely spawned by the exact same dungeon that Draven had been desperately defending his borders against.
Then Adrian shifted his camera to look back at the two massive high elves.
’High elves should not even exist.’ Adrian thought to himself.
But he decided to stop thinking about the high elves for a second. He turned his focus back to the regular elf girl. He quickly dug through his memories and recalled everything he had read in the original novel.
Elves were highly intelligent beings. But at the end of the day, they were no different than the mindless beasts attacking the wall.
And the reason was pretty simple. Almost every single monster in this world had a voice in their head. Unless a beast was being actively controlled by a someone, they all had that same driving force inside them.
There were two types of monsters. The unintelligent beasts had a literal voice in their head that constantly pushed them to violently attack humans or anything else nearby.
But the highly intelligent monsters were different. They did not actually hear a voice in their heads. Instead, the entire hatred was baked deeply into their subconscious mind from the time of their creation.
The exact moment an intelligent monster was spawned by a dungeon, they possessed a deep, unshakeable hatred toward humans. And no amount of reasoning or logic was ever going to take that away from them. Even though they were smart and could talk, they just could not get rid of this instinct.
Almost every single action they took was always going to go against humanity or other non-monster races like the dwarves.
Because of this specific trait of theirs, Adrian knew for a fact that he needed to kill this short elf girl somehow.
But he also looked closely at the two towering high elves. And he could easily tell that he needed to get rid of them first.
There was no concrete information about high elves in the web novel. The original protagonist never even fought a high elf because they were not a thing in the story. So Adrian had never actually read a scene detailing how a high elf fought in combat.
But the novel did briefly touch upon the ancient lore of high elves.
High elves were highly attuned to natural ambient mana. They were all innate mages, and every single high elf that was born instinctively knew how to wield massive amounts of mana.
And just that tiny piece of information was enough for Adrian to figure things out. He immediately realized that the person who cancelled his fire tornado spell earlier was probably one of these two high elves.
So Adrian made a quick decision. He needed to take care of the two high elves first before he went after the regular elf.
The short elf girl was a low threat right now. And since she was most probably spawned by the dungeon, killing her was pointless anyway. Even if he shot her in the head, the dungeon was just going to respawn her later.
After he thought all of this through, he immediately moved.
He reached into his system storage and took out his mana enhanced runic rifle. He grabbed a fresh magazine and slapped it into the weapon.
He immediately opened a portal and stepped right out of his dungeon. He appeared on the muddy forest floor. And without wasting a single second, he raised the rifle and pulled the trigger.
He aimed directly at Ilyndra.
