Chapter 211: Stop Playing Around, Vaelin
Chapter 211: Stop Playing Around, Vaelin
The heavy armor-piercing bullet flew forward. It broke the supersonic barrier instantly with a loud crack that echoed through the forest, but a moment later, Adrian simply stared as he just could not believe his eyes.
His deadly bullet had been completely stopped dead in its tracks by a tiny mana shield. And this specific shield looked very different from the smooth, curved ones that he and Aria always used.
It was a really small, flat hexagonal plate. It just appeared right near the ear of Ilyndra exactly where the bullet was about to hit. He watched the crushed bullet just fall harmlessly on the ground below.
And the small hexagonal plate was reflecting a strange, rainbow colored light. It stayed for a second before going completely transparent.
A moment later, all three of the elves slowly turned their heads to look directly at Adrian standing in the distance.
"Oh." the short elf girl said softly. "The father is here too now."
Adrian immediately stepped backward and fell right back into his dungeon portal. He closed it instantly and clicked his tongue in pure frustration.
He stood in the safety of his empty stone room. But then he stopped and thought back to the exact words the short elf had just spoken.
"The father is here too now." Adrian muttered to himself.
He looked at the system screen again. The camera feed showed the short elf girl staring at the empty spot where Adrian had just disappeared.
But the two high elves were not looking at his spot at all. They were looking in a completely different direction deep into the forest.
Adrian followed their gaze. He could not see anything through the dense trees on the screen. So he manually moved his camera vision and rapidly followed their line of sight.
He moved the camera forward for about five hundred meters. And then he saw something that completely surprised him.
Aria was jumping around wildly in the middle of the dark forest.
She was using the exact same movement technique that Adrian always used. She was compressing a Gust spell right under the soles of her boots to rapidly propel herself forward. She was basically bouncing from tree to tree like a blur.
But Adrian quickly noticed something more. The giant trees around her were actually moving.
The massive trunks were pretty slow when it came to actual movement. But the long, thick branches were incredibly fast. They whipped through the air like deadly tentacles.
And he could clearly see that Aria was actually having a lot of trouble dodging all of them.
Adrian panicked instantly and his heart hammered in his chest.
’I need to go out there and save her.’ Adrian thought quickly.
But he forced himself to stop. He took a deep breath and watched the screen. Because even though she was struggling against the quick, whipping branches, she was still holding her ground perfectly. She was blocking and deflecting everything without taking a hit.
Adrian felt a massive spike of anger mix with his fear. He was genuinely annoyed and angry that she even came out here in the first place.
He gritted his teeth and glared at the screen.
’I told her to stay at the wall.’ Adrian thought angrily. ’So what the hell is she even doing out here?’
He knew that he was going to have to ask her a lot of questions about this later. But he also knew that right now was definitely not the time to scold her.
Since she was currently holding her own, he took a second to study the moving trees attacking her. And he instantly knew that these were not Ents.
Ents were actual tree monsters. They had a magical core hidden inside their bodies. And their wooden trunks always had a hollow hole that looked exactly like a mouth.
But these trees had completely normal trunks with no mouths at all. Which only meant one thing.
’These elves are using their magic to move the trees.’ Adrian thought.
He paced around his dungeon room.
’I need to get to them somehow.’ he thought.
But he felt completely bummed out. The one modern weapon that he thought was his ultimate trump card was completely useless now. These high elves could just block his armor-piercing supersonic bullets without putting in any real effort.
So he decided to change his tactics.
He opened a portal and jumped out of the dungeon again. He appeared a good distance away from the three elves. He kept his rifle tightly gripped in his hands.
But this time, his six steel chakrams flew out of the portal right behind him.
He kept two of the spinning blades hovering closely right next to his shoulders for defense. Meanwhile, he sent the other four chakrams shooting straight forward. He focused all of his magical firepower directly on the two high elves.
The four steel rings spun at massive speeds, cutting through the air and water droplets falling from above.
Just as the chakrams were about to hit their targets, Ilyndra finally reacted. She had not been paying much attention to Aria’s direction anyway. She just casually turned her head to look at the incoming steel chakrams.
And a fraction of a second later, Adrian completely lost his connection to his weapons.
She basically countered and severed his invisible telekinesis threads with no problems. The four heavy steel chakrams instantly dropped uselessly into the ground.
Adrian just stood there staring at her. Their eyes connected and they stared for a few seconds.
Then, Ilyndra just smirked at him.
Adrian felt completely pissed off when he saw that expression.
Right at that exact moment, the short elf girl spoke up.
"Just kill that kid." the elf girl ordered flatly. "Stop playing with her."
Vaelin laughed out loud.
"Okay sure." Vaelin replied with a deep voice. "It was just fun playing with her. She seemed pretty talented."
’No no no no! Fucking bastards...’ Adrian screamed in his head.
