Chapter 928 - 928: Demon Queen(2).
Biokinesis is a Unique Skill, a power in a rank of its own. Only one user of Biokinesis can exist at a time, and nobody truly knows the requirements to achieve it. It is the unique ability to manipulate biological matter through physical touch. At a high enough level, it is theoretically possible to do so through sheer force of will, but Morgana has not reached such a level yet.
Biokinesis can be used both ways, for good and evil. It is a Unique Skill capable of rendering 'great' feats both ways. Biokinesis is capable of treating any biological anomaly, whether it be cancer or something even worse. As long as it exists in a physical form within a biological being, it can be affected by Biokinesis.
However, Biokinesis has various applications for 'bad' as well. Morgana is capable of making a Human Heart stop within three seconds of physical contact. Upon immediate physical contact, she can start the destructive process of cells, albeit at a slow rate, as well as alter the biology of the victim to cause multiple types of cancer and other ailments.
It is a Unique skill that has never been seen before in the Universe. However, Biokinesis is not limited to other people; the user is capable os using Biokinesis on themselves as well, to treat any injury, and to also strengthen their biology.
Of course, limits exist to this application, but if Morgana was being honest, she hadn't been forced close to that limit in combat at all.
However, the most unique and special application of Biokinesis is the greatest ability possessed by living beings, specifically intelligent beings. It is 'Adaptation'.
Even without Morgana at the helm, leading every decision, Biokinesis will adapt her body to fit any unusual phenomena, provided enough time is granted. This includes resistance to specific poisons and even other adjustments to fit her current predicament. This is a passive ability of Biokinesis.
Biokinesis is a Unique skill with a 'Mind' of its own, much like [Dominatus]. Morgana, however, does not know much about the 'mind' her unique skill possesses. Biokinesis uses this mind for its passive feature, Adaptation.
"A year and a half ago, I started to receive... special dreams, and messages that would carve themselves upon my body. My dreams would be vivid, but strangely enough, some parts of them would be hollowed out, as if cut.
The messages that would appear on my body would be cryptic, but the more I thought about them, or the more they stayed in my mind, I began to understand them clearly. They begin to... expand in my mind, and more messages appear on my body."
She extended her arm, and Keith groaned as he saw her veins pop out of her skin to form a message.
[MYSTERY, TIME, REPEAT, UNKNOWN,]
The words, or rather, the veins forming them, disappeared back into her body, and she continued.
"They always appear in this form, and whenever I spend a lot of time pondering about them, they advance. Using Biokinesis hastens this process.
However, the energy cost is absolutely horrendous. All of my reserves, even of the batteries I have prepared, vanish in an instant whenever this occurs, and using Biokinesis actively simply speeds up this process. I don't know what it exactly is, but I have some idea."
She said, prompting Keith to turn his head. He cautiously asked.
"Which is?"
Morgana didn't answer for a while, as if in deep thought. She sighed and revealed her 'theory'.
"Living beings adapt to their environments, to be more efficient, to 'survive'. Humans, and every other species on this planet, are the same. Everything adapts. Biokinesis has a passive feature known as Adaptation, which has helped me many a time in the past, but I've never been able to truly grasp it."
She took a deep breath and continued.
"Keith, have you ever experienced Deja Vu more often than usual? In the last ten years, has any situation occurred that made you think...
Has this happened before? Where did I see this? This is familiar...?"
The man didn't respond, thinking about it carefully. Time passed by as Keith scoured through his memories of the last ten years, but in the end, he didn't find anything of importance. He couldn't recall any event where he felt 'Deja Vu'.
He shook his head, and Morgana continued, this time with a more relaxed tone.
"Adaptation works in many ways, and most without my command. I believe [Biokinesis] is adapting to something far beyond us, something we can not put a finger on. The more I try to think about it this way, the more I get lost, and at the same time, Biokinesis responds more actively.
Back when these messages and dreams were new, I didn't pay much heed to them until they were confirmed. As time passed, I spent more time focused on my dreams and messages and tried to understand them.
My dreams came true one after the other, and I became certain of it..."
Keith recalled the message Morgana showed him.
[MYSTERY, TIME, REPEAT, UNKNOWN.]
His eyes lit up as he pointed out in disbelief.
"You believe time is repeating."
Morgana smiled and nodded her head.
"I think so, at the very least, that is what my recent adaptations are telling me. We are in a loop, Keith. I'm not sure as to the exact scale, but the more I think about it, the more it slips out of my mind.
It's hard to keep thinking about it, to keep researching it. But then again, it comes to me more clearly.
Time is repeating, and my Unique Skill, [Biokinesis], has begun to realize it. It is adapting to the repeating time, and it shows me visions of the previous loops. In one of these dreams, it shows the attack of the Obelisk on Askolt."
"This dream told you of the Sage and Saint's absence? How?"
"It came from Harrison, in that dream, I hear the pained roar of a Dragon outside his office, there is a chill in the atmosphere, and I hear you, and everybody else outside. As I confront Harrison, he clicks his tongue and says.
'To come here when Sir Oliver and Sir Arken are away... What a tragedy.' Surprisingly, this is one of the most vivid dreams."
She chuckled as Keith said.
"So in one of these loops, you received the information that the Sage and the Saint would be away... But it still doesn't make sense. Suppose I believe all of this nonsense, that Time really is repeating, that we exist in a loop, it doesn't explain why we still made the suicidal move on Askolt.
You received it during the mission, not before. So why did all of us still go there? Now, are you going to tell me that even that 'dream' or 'loop' was influenced by a prior loop? It could be, but I would never trust that, in any 'loop'."
He stated. He was starting to get annoyed. Keith didn't believe Morgana at all, while aware of her skill, he simply thought the task of reversing time so many times was simply unbelievable. He didn't trust this woman much either, even if she was his 'boss'. Furthermore, he was a man who was more attuned to the domain of the mind; if Morgana was really telling the truth, and if she was able to sense it, Keith should have been the same.
Even if he didn't realize it completely, he should have noticed a few anomalies! But none existed in his memories! As someone who defeated a mind demon, he was having trouble believing his mind was failing. Even if [Biokinesis] was a unique skill, this was simply too far-fetched.
"So tell me, what is the second source of information?"
He asked, and Morgana sighed, pondering.
'It isn't as if he doesn't believe, but he is being led not to.'
She thought. In reality, she had had this conversation with Keith many times, in the previous loops as well, and no matter how accurately she would describe her experiences, Keith would always, always reject it. Never would he ever even ponder it for a while, save for the scouring of his memory.
He would always vehemently reject it. Something that was slightly unlike him. This only increased Morgana's belief that a loop was really happening, and that Keith, who didn't have [Biokinesis] to adapt to the repeating time, was being influenced beyond his control to deny it.
It was the same with her; whenever she would think about it too much, or spend days or weeks researching it. She would find herself slowly drifting away from that topic, and would forget it until [Biokinesis] eventually reminded her with the usage of dreams and messages.
Morgana sighed inwardly, making a special note to herself as she revealed her second source of information, one that actually led the attack on Askolt.
"The second source of information is The Oracle, the Demon Lord of Prophecy and Tales, Vassago."
