Wang Ya didn’t return to the Illusory Dream Tower. Instead, he went to the second floor of the Dark Library.

Collecting books from the Core Zone was no longer a difficult task for him at his current level.

After greeting Slate, Wang Ya began to collect books about geography, natural wonders, and speculative records regarding the existence of certain Dark Land Wizards.

For example, there were books about the wondrous and strange places created by the Deep Blue Great Wizard, such as the Hundred Rift Grand Canyon, the Land of Snakes, the Underground Demon Mountain, and Time Ring Island. Wizards who had witnessed these sights firsthand had written these works, none of which contained any Extraordinary Knowledge.

Many of these were popular science-type books that the Dark Land had collected from other places—texts that had circulated out from the inner regions of the Wizard Continent, similar to “On the Nature of Wizards.”

Wang Ya had to admit that he was influenced by the words left behind by the Black Sun Wizard, as well as that experiment log.

After all, this was related to the mysterious and powerful Deep Blue Great Wizard, a figure suspected to be from the Legendary Era and who was, at the very minimum, a Level 6 Great Wizard.

…

Wang Ya walked back to the Illusory Dream Tower. Even at night, the Maple Forest was a place of perpetually falling leaves and bright, beautiful light, its seasons unchanging.

Thoughts about breaking through to the rank of Official Wizard surfaced in his mind.

When he had received the Golden Ant Rice seeds from the Illusory Dream Wizard, the latter had mentioned something.

He had been invited by the Divine Blood Wizard to help his Inheritor Disciple break through to become an Official Wizard.

Wang Ya had been surprised at the time. ‘My teacher actually has that kind of Ability?’

Unfortunately, that Mechanical Wizard failed his breakthrough to Official Wizard.

Even with the Illusory Dream Wizard and the Theological Wizard acting together, they couldn’t save him.

When directly confronting the Wizard World Will, his Wizard’s Heart hadn’t been pure enough and his will wasn’t firm enough, causing him to become lost under the pressure of the Wizard World’s consciousness.

It was a death of the spirit and will—an irreversible fate. The very instant he confronted it, he had collapsed and died.

It was a death somewhat similar to being stabbed by the Rusted Iron Sword, where the soul simply vanishes.

The body that remained, even if technically alive, was just a useless shell.

The most important part—his soul and will—was gone.

Wang Ya reflected on this with a surge of emotion. The Power of an Extreme Wizard Apprentice was arguably very close to that of an Official Wizard. For some of the more genius Extreme Wizard Apprentices, the depth of their research in certain fields was no different from that of an Official Wizard.

But even so, they could still fail the test of the Wizard World Will and die completely.

For every ten Extreme Wizard Apprentices who tried, two successfully advancing was considered a high success rate.

The key to success still lay with the Wizard themself.

‘The Illusory Dream Wizard had said that although he helped that Extreme Wizard Apprentice by providing spiritual and mental reinforcement and protection, the Mechanical Wizard’s own will was too weak. His Wizard’s Heart was also incomplete. When facing the Wizard World Will, his chance of success was only thirty percent. Even if he had succeeded, achieving any further advancement would have been exceptionally difficult.’

‘If he hadn’t attempted the breakthrough then, he probably would have lost the chance to ever do so.’

‘That Mechanical Wizard had modified his entire body. With the help of the Divine Blood Wizard, the Extraordinary Materials used for his cybernetic replacements were the best available. He could even activate an Energy Core Engine at the level of an Official Wizard at any moment.’

‘It was equivalent to reaching the Official Wizard level on a physical plane.’

‘But if the metaphysical plane—what other Wizard Systems call Particle Energy or a Biological Force Field—could not match the physical plane’s Energy Core Engine, he would only become a manipulated Puppet. This couldn’t be considered a true breakthrough to Official Wizard at all.’

‘And it was precisely in this metaphysical aspect that the Extreme Wizard Apprentice was too weak.’

After hearing the Illusory Dream Wizard’s account of the incident, Wang Ya had an epiphany.

It seemed the Illusory Dream Wizard had told him this intentionally, imparting certain concepts about the balance between the illusory and the real.

Wang Ya’s ability to understand this was also thanks to his recent research into the Black Sun Element Wizard’s legacy and his analytical experiments on the Evil God’s Heart.

Sometimes, a person might already have some grasp of a concept but remains confused because they lack the one key insight needed to connect all the fragmented pieces of knowledge hidden within their memory.

As he was leaving Heart Dream Lake, the Illusory Dream Wizard had spoken bluntly, ‘Your mind is in turmoil right now, and you’re far too hasty. I can give you the Golden Ant Rice, but you must calm your mental State. If you continue like this, even if you force a breakthrough in the Dream-Recalling Meditation Method, you will only be harming yourself. The tempering and nourishment of your neurons won’t be very effective either.’

Wang Ya felt a sense of resignation, but he couldn’t very well explain the situation.

The Illusory Dream Wizard had misunderstood. The daily sessions in the Virtual Laboratory were what was taking a toll on Wang Ya’s mental State.

Admittedly, this was causing some issues with the tempering and nourishment of his neurons, but his progress certainly wasn’t stagnating.

It would just take a little longer, that was all.

The analytical Ability of the Eye of Truth could free him from the endless trial and error of practicing the Dream-Recalling Meditation Method. The time he saved could be used to complete other Wizard Experiments without affecting his mental State.

“The Dark Land has a method for breaking through to Official Wizard, but you can only learn about it after your Power reaches the level of an Extreme Wizard Apprentice. It is the fundamental legacy of the Dark Land.” The Illusory Dream Wizard’s words echoed in Wang Ya’s mind.

This was undoubtedly good news.

‘That made sense. It would be impossible for a Wizard Influence this large to endure for so long without something of that nature.’

Yet, Wang Ya also sensed a hint of hesitation in the Illusory Dream Wizard’s words, as if there was some hidden catch.
