The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 320: The Dark Hand Gathers, Promotion to Extreme Wizard Apprentice
“Master Comoro, Miss Qiudongqiu is here to see you again.”
Victor spoke softly from outside the door, careful not to knock on the study’s entrance.
The hallway light was bright, casting shadows on his cheeks. He spoke again, as if in reply, “Understood, Master Comoro. I will tell Miss Qiudongqiu to leave.”
Wang Ya had moved the chair and desk from the middle of the room over to the window. A natural breeze drifted in from outside, making the curtains rustle loudly.
Behind him stood numerous rows of bookshelves. They were the most valuable items in Comoro’s Wizard’s Residence.
Wang Ya stood up from his chair, his expression grim and uncertain.
After returning from Licorice Camp, he had been living in seclusion to avoid exposing his identity.
The failure at Licorice Camp served as a perfect excuse.
The strongest Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, crushed by the blow, was now secretly striving to regain everything he had lost.
This persona was excellent and wouldn’t cause any major problems.
While playing the part of Comoro, Wang Ya could also gather information from within the Black Tower. The Wizard Influences of the Outer Zone and the Inner Zone were different. The Inner Zone was on a higher level, and the information there was beyond anything known in the Dark Land.
This was a great help for Wang Ya in understanding the entire Wizard World, and it was also a necessary contingency.
At certain moments, it could play a crucial role.
Qiudongqiu had been constantly looking for him. Because of her relationship with Comoro, this woman was a wild card.
Wang Ya’s eyes flickered as thoughts raced through his mind. He couldn’t think of a proper way to handle the situation.
The reason was their relationship; they were childhood sweethearts. The Sack Clan and Qiudongqiu’s Baiyu Clan had tacitly approved of their special connection, and it was highly likely they would be joined in a political marriage.
‘What a troublesome woman!’
Wang Ya subconsciously fiddled with his fingers and sighed internally. He could only take things one step at a time.
He would have to go into seclusion as much as possible, establish his roots within the Sack Clan, and let them get used to a completely new Comoro.
One hundred and twenty years was an incredibly long time—two generations for mortals, or perhaps even the lifespan of a Mortal Kingdom. It was more than enough time to change how others saw him. Since he already felt like a stranger to them, once they became familiar with this new version, they would accept it as the real Comoro.
The memory of the old Comoro would fade from their minds, replaced by the deeply ingrained image of the new Comoro that Wang Ya portrayed!
To achieve this, he needed to minimize his interactions with others, but he couldn’t cut off contact completely.
…
The Black Tower’s sphere of influence was more than ten times larger than the Dark Land’s. Wizard Cities, Wizard Clans, and schools of Wild Wizards were everywhere.
The quality here was much higher than in the Outer Zone. The concentration of natural particle energy was on a completely different level, and consequently, the number of wild Extraordinary Creatures was also extremely high. Beast Kings were common, and Level 1 and Level 2 Extraordinary Creatures also emerged periodically to forage, sometimes devouring the population of an entire Mortal City. The region was incredibly dangerous.
There were far more Wizard Cities here than in the Outer Zone. Mortal Kingdoms were not spread out; instead, they were built around the Wizard Cities, forming territories that resembled clusters of villages.
Many Mortal Nobility had connections with Wizards, and some could even directly contact Wizards from the Black Tower’s headquarters.
The Wizard Clans were at the apex of this structure, especially the Four Great Star Families from the Black Tower’s headquarters.
After Official Wizards came Level 2 Wizards, also known as Star Wizards. Like the stars in the sky, their status was lofty and remote.
Level 3 Wizards were called Bright Moon Wizards. Like the bright, clear moon, they were even more distant and untouchable. They were generally the top-tier combat power among the Wizard Influences of the Inner Zone.
Level 4 Radiant Wizards symbolized the sun. They possessed absolute Power capable of suppressing everything and represented the upper limit of the Inner Zone. If there were enough of them, they could even attempt to advance into the Core Area.
That was where the true splendor of the Wizard Continent lay. The advancement of Wizard Technology there was far beyond what any Outer Zone Wizard could imagine.
The Wizard Influences in the Inner Zone were also divided into various ranks, and the Black Tower could only be considered mid-to-low tier among them.
All of the above was information Wang Ya had gathered secretly over the past two months. He had been so discreet that no one had discovered his activities.
The Four Great Star Families sounded impressive, but it only meant they each had multiple Level 2 Wizards and controlled many territories. Among the numerous factions within the Black Tower, the Four Great Star Families barely qualified as having a voice in decision-making.
This was on the condition that the Four Great Star Families acted as one, as a Level 3 Great Wizard was in command.
‘It’s never quiet, no matter where I go,’ Wang Ya lamented. Where there were factions, there was conflict—all of it a struggle for resources and benefits.
In the two months since his return, news of it had likely spread throughout the Black Tower, thanks to the Red Crown Clan and the Min Clan.
Many Wizards were even joining the discussion, posting articles with titles like: “The Strongest Level 3 Wizard Apprentice Returns? He’s Coming to Take Back His Title, You’d Better Watch Out,” “Are You Trembling in Fear? Ready to Welcome the Return of the Strongest Level 3 Wizard, Comoro Sack?” and “Is the Strongest of Yesterday Still the Strongest Today? The Genius of Comoro, the Fangs of the Sack Clan…”
The situation here was closer to the modern world of his previous life. There was a virtual information platform, similar to a newspaper, that Wizards from the headquarters with a Wizard Mark could view. Of course, there was also a small fee. Many of the headquarters’ Wizards used this platform to keep up with events happening inside the vast Black Tower.
