He had the patience for this!

Beiming Qianye straightened his clothes, feeling a bit fidgety. Even though he was a thirty-five-year-old seasoned veteran who had attended all sorts of grand occasions, he was currently as nervous as a teenage boy about to meet his crush.

“Secretary Shen, how does this outfit look?” Beiming Qianye asked nervously.

Shen Zhongchen glanced at him through the rearview mirror and smiled. “Chief, you look exceptionally handsome today.”

Chen Xiaobao sat side by side with Beiming Qianye in the backseat. The little boy sweetly chimed in, “You look very handsome today, Mister.”

Beiming Qianye chuckled. “Xiao Bao, we’re going to see your mommy soon. Are you happy?”

Xiao Bao nodded vigorously. “Very happy!” Then, the boy asked mischievously, “Are *you* happy, Mister?”

Beiming Qianye was speechless. He couldn’t believe this clever little rascal was actually setting a trap for him!

Listening to the conversation between Beiming Qianye and Chen Xiaobao—or, more accurately, between a father and son—Shen Zhongchen couldn’t help but smile. Xiao Bao was like a little sun, bringing the Chief so much joy. During the days the boy had stayed by his side, the smiles on the Chief’s face had visibly increased.

As they drew closer to the Han City Base, Beiming Qianye’s heartbeat quickened. For some inexplicable reason, he was genuinely nervous.

Chen Xiaobao seemed to notice his anxiety. Grabbing Beiming Qianye’s hand with his chubby little fingers, he said, “Don’t be nervous, Mister. Mommy is really nice.”

Beiming Qianye looked at Xiao Bao and thought, “He really is my biological son. He’s like a little mind reader, guessing exactly what I’m thinking.”

He smiled and said, “I don’t know if I’ll be nervous when I see your mommy. After all, it’s been a long time since I last saw her. If I get too nervous later, you have to help me out, okay?”

The current Chen Momo was completely different from the last time they met. Beiming Qianye knew that she was now a successful businesswoman and a major influencer with millions of followers.

Chen Xiaobao nodded immediately. “Don’t worry, Mister! You’re so good to Xiao Bao, so Xiao Bao will definitely help you!”

“Let’s pinky promise on it, then.”

“Pinky promise! We can’t break it for a hundred years!”

Catching this interaction in the rearview mirror, Shen Zhongchen smiled again. Ever since this child arrived, there had been a bright light in the Chief’s eyes!

Shen Zhongchen drove the car slowly into the Han City Base. The security guard at the gate was shocked to see Beiming Qianye sitting inside.

“Chief, what brings you here?” the guard asked in astonishment.

“The Chief is here for a private matter,” Shen Zhongchen replied. “There’s no need to make a fuss.”

Although the guard nodded in agreement, he still immediately ran off to report the visit to Gu Rongjin.

Gu Rongjin was at his desk reviewing a contract for the production center. Hearing the news, his hand trembled slightly. Not long ago, he had heard that Chen Momo returned to the Han City Base driving Beiming Qianye’s car. Now, Beiming Qianye had come in person under the guise of private business. Could it be for Chen Momo?

Chen Momo was currently a celebrity in the Han City Base. Initially, Gu Rongjin hadn’t thought highly of her, but after everything that had happened, his opinion of her had somehow changed. He even realized that hearing about the overly close relationship between Beiming Qianye and Chen Momo made his heart ache.

As for the reason… he couldn’t quite explain it himself.

Gu Rongjin stood up and turned on the base’s surveillance monitors. He saw that Beiming Qianye’s car was already parked in the lot. Beiming Qianye and Shen Zhongchen were chatting and laughing as they walked out of the parking area. Beiming Qianye was carrying a little boy in his arms—upon closer inspection, it was Chen Momo’s son, Chen Xiaobao.

No wonder he hadn’t seen Xiao Bao these past few days… the boy had been with Beiming Qianye all along! It seemed the relationship between Chen Momo and Beiming Qianye was truly out of the ordinary!

A sudden surge of sourness welled up in his chest. Gu Rongjin got up and walked out of his office.

Over at her home, Chen Momo was cooking in the kitchen when she suddenly heard the doorbell ring.

Xu Xiaoka ran over to answer it. Opening the door, she found Chen Xiaobao, Beiming Qianye, and Shen Zhongchen standing outside.

Shen Zhongchen was like a ray of light, illuminating Xu Xiaoka’s eyes. Her gaze sparkled. “Chief? What brings you here so suddenly?”

Beiming Qianye smiled. “Xiao Bao said he missed Momo, so I brought him back for a visit.”

Chen Xiaobao looked completely bewildered. He thought, “Did I just become a meat shield that quickly? Without even a moment’s notice?”

Xu Xiaoka happily stepped aside. “Oh, come on in! Wow, Xiao Bao, let me get a good look at you!”

Hearing the commotion in the living room, Chen Momo walked out of the kitchen. She was still wearing her apron, which was dusted with flour she hadn’t had time to brush off. Her eyes instantly reddened at the sight of her son. “Xiao Bao?”

They hadn’t seen each other for several months, and he had actually grown taller! With his fair and clean complexion, he looked even more adorable.

Chen Momo immediately rushed over and scooped him up in her arms. Squishing him like a teddy bear, she showered his face with so many kisses that his cheeks squished out of shape.

“Mommy, I’m going to suffocate from your kisses…” Chen Xiaobao managed to say with difficulty.

Xu Xiaoka couldn’t help but laugh from the sidelines. Chen Momo kissed her son’s face all over before reluctantly setting her precious baby boy down.

“Xiao Bao, Mommy missed you to death…” As Chen Momo spoke, she looked up and met Beiming Qianye’s fiery gaze.

Yes, fiery. Chen Momo was absolutely certain that Beiming Qianye’s eyes were electric, sending a jolt straight to her heart. Furthermore, he looked exceptionally handsome today. Full of energy, radiating a domineering aura, and paired with that burning gaze, he made Chen Momo uncontrollably blush.

For the past few months, she had been keeping an unspeakable secret, one she was too embarrassed to voice aloud. Over the course of these months, she had actually dreamed about Beiming Qianye multiple times. In her dreams, it felt as if they had known each other for a very long time. Upon waking, she always found these dreams incredibly strange.

She and Beiming Qianye had only met a handful of times. They clearly weren’t that familiar with each other. So why did she dream about him so frequently?

Chen Momo couldn’t figure it out no matter how hard she tried. Eventually, she forced herself to accept a flimsy excuse: the only reason she dreamt of Beiming Qianye was because her son was with him!
