Chapter 336: The Central Light Magic Association
Chapter 336
The Central Light Magic Association
“I’ll take it. From now on, I’ll help you once as repayment,” Ellie said and then walked away. Prince Jason’s eyes gleamed with happiness. Finally, he had gained another ally to join him in the city conquest.
Of course, Ellie knew what her words would imply, but helping him seize a city wouldn’t be difficult. The beasts around here were no longer a problem for her. So, it was more like a chance to stretch her legs. Moreover, accepting this beast might be more beneficial than helping him directly...
Jason was quite pleased with what he heard. He no longer obstructed the Demon Frog Warrior from meeting the association leader, giving way for him to pass. Many people who overheard the conversation between the two initially didn’t think much of Prince Jason as a hunter. Although he was quite skilled for a newcomer, he wasn’t particularly noteworthy.
New hunters arrived daily, and sometimes even the most skilled ones could easily fall. Hence, they didn’t waste time getting to know inexperienced newcomers. However, Prince Jason’s status as a hunter had changed. As soon as he revealed that he knew the Demon Frog Warrior’s sister, it indicated that they knew each other’s identity. Therefore, their relationship couldn’t be bad.
The Demon Frog Warrior was known for preferring to attack alone, disliking fighting under others’ orders. Thus, it was common to see him taking solo missions. Even the association leader knew this and had allowed the Demon Frog Warrior to rampage to his heart’s content during the previous kingdom wars. Now, he was being called in for a private meeting once again.
Because of this, approaching the Demon Frog Warrior was very difficult for other hunters. Despite being on the same missions, they rarely collaborated, making it hard to get close to him! Everyone had resigned themselves to putting the Demon Frog Warrior on a pedestal, knowing they had no way to ingratiate themselves. But who would have thought that suddenly there would be someone who knew him so well?
“Hey there, young man. Are you new? I haven’t seen you before.” Previously, whenever Prince Jason tried to join a group, his frail-looking body and head-to-toe cloak made people reluctant to accept him. After 1 year, he had only managed to gain one follower, someone he had coincidentally saved. If not for his help, that person wouldn’t have followed him.
Just seconds after greeting the Demon Frog Warrior, someone approached Jason with respect.
“I’ve been a hunter for about a year, but I have other duties, so I don’t often take missions.”
“Oh, just like the Demon Frog Warrior. I heard he didn’t take many missions in his first year, which kept him at the lowest rank. Luckily, the war came, and he could participate, eventually rising to a high rank and receiving many exemptions. Since you’re his friend, you might also gain points from this war mission.”
“I hope so,” Prince Jason replied nonchalantly. When Hunter Luke joined the war, Jason still had to complete tasks with others. He recalled that around the same time, Ellie, Luke’s sister, was working with stratagem branch students to prepare camps. Both siblings had made significant contributions.
“Haha, anyway, the Demon Frog Warrior is a highly skilled beast tamer. Even as his friend, you might only earn a few points. Don’t expect too much. As a senior, I’m just advising you not to set high expectations. However...you could join our group later. With our strength, we can definitely help you rise in rank.”
The man laughed heartily and patted Prince Jason on the back a few times. If Prince Jason weren’t disguised, this action would be considered quite disrespectful.
“Sorry, your offer is quite good, but I want to form my own hunting group.”
“Oh, is that so? You’re very forward-thinking. Young people should be like that. Well, I wish you success.” The hunter who greeted him patted him on the shoulder a couple more times in a friendly manner before walking away.
In truth, he had only approached to introduce himself and make a connection. Inviting Jason to join his group wasn’t certain. Even though Jason was a friend of the Demon Frog Warrior, it didn’t mean he was equally skilled. He was merely showing a gesture of friendship. Once that was done, he left.
About 3 or 4 others did the same, approaching Prince Jason to show their friendliness towards the friend of the Demon Frog Warrior.
Meanwhile, Ellie entered the association leader’s room. He had been waiting for her. When he saw Ellie enter, he immediately invited her to sit opposite him. His expression wasn’t very pleasant.
“Haven’t seen you in a while. Every time we meet, it’s always something big.” Hearing this, Ellie sighed.
What he said wasn’t wrong, but it was due to his own rules, wasn’t it? They said she didn’t have to take missions anymore as a special case, but whenever the association faced a critical situation, they always wanted to call on Hunter Luke for help. This was why Ellie appeared every time there was a problem.
“You probably already know. The Central Association doesn’t care about anyone and has declared war everywhere. This time, they’ve declared war on our Hunter’s Association. They announced it 2 days ago. Now, there are only 5 days left before the battle begins. In the meantime, some of our association members have been sent to defend, but their numbers are large, and their skills are not yet known.”
"Normally, light magic is mainly used for healing in our Ares Kingdom, but no one knows if the Central Association will only use it for that purpose. Look at Professor Lucien; he can both heal and has extensive combat knowledge. His light magic can cause significant harm to opponents. I fear that those in the Central Association possess rare combat skills,"
The association leader said with concern. Ellie, who had read the novel, knew that light magic was no ordinary power. Professor Lucien was extremely skilled. By manipulating light and increasing its density, he could even cause bodies to explode. Faced with such formidable magic power, it was no wonder everyone was afraid.
Ellie thought for a moment about this. When it came to magic power, she wasn’t scared. As long as her Black Fairy Field spread around, any magic power would be nothing more than food.
She didn’t think they would be stronger than the Setter family’s members but might possess more specialized or mysterious powers. Otherwise, they would have won challenges on their own and not followed behind the Setter family. However, Ellie couldn’t use her power to probe them either. This was her limitation when facing complex magic users who could detect and neutralize her spores quickly.
“5 days, huh?” Ellie pondered. 5 days was enough time for her to do other things in the tower. She didn’t want to waste that much time.
“Yes, the time is too short. We might not be able to prepare properly, so...”
“In that case, can I have the freedom to act as usual?” Ellie interrupted before he finished, her face serious.
“Huh?”
“It might seem embarrassing, but no one cares about such things now. If you allow me to move freely, I will use this time to reduce their numbers as much as possible.”
“That! That’s too dangerous,” the association leader was slightly startled by her boldness. He didn’t want to lose a powerful asset like the Demon Frog Warrior. Even if the Demon Frog could handle poison, how could light magicians be its food? Those magicians were certainly strong; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been chosen. Wouldn’t it be better to let the Demon Frog Warrior stay around and create opportunities for others to strike?
While the association leader thought that such actions were too risky, Ellie thought otherwise. The enemies were moving sources of magic power—perfect food for her little Black Fairy. Instead of letting them go back, why not keep them?
She didn’t want to kill them. After all, they were just being used by the Central Association. That side didn’t act directly but used these people as pawns in the battle. If they wanted to be pawns for someone else, why not be pawns for her instead?
Hiding her smile, Ellie spoke to the association leader again.
“Let me go ahead. If I can’t fight, I can still bring back information.” Seeing her seriousness and willingness to sacrifice, the association leader was stunned in an instant. He almost kneeled in gratitude for her sacrifice but fortunately, Hunter Luke didn’t let him do that.
“If I manage to win this fight, can you grant me the right to handle all the spoils and prisoners?”
“Of course, but I hope you won’t put yourself at too much risk,” the leader warned again. He knew the young hunter was capable, having seen him kill level 4 beasts with his own eyes, but with such capability, how could he fight hundreds of magicians? The boy might think it would be easy because the original members of the Central Association didn’t act themselves, but the leader knew it wouldn’t be that simple.
After all, they came as light magic users representing the Central Association. There had to be experienced members leading them, and they must have been taught how to use light magic effectively. And indeed, that was the case.
At the Central Light Magic Association’s camp, there were 4 true geniuses from the original association. They came to lead the battle themselves to ensure victory over the Hunter’s Association of Ares Kingdom. They had heard of the hunters’ reputation, knowing even level 4 beasts had been defeated, so they were not taking any chances.
However, they made a grave mistake. By challenging an association that Ellie was part of, they were walking into their doom!!
"Understood," Ellie acknowledged and then walked away. The people outside the association had no idea what their leader had discussed with the Demon Frog Warrior, but they assumed it was an assignment of some sort because the Demon Frog Warrior suddenly walked over to the teleportation device and headed straight for the 3rd floor.
Prince Jason was also somewhat surprised. He didn’t know where Hunter Luke was going or what task he had been given. Low-level hunters were required to stay together here, waiting for further orders. Their first task was to strengthen the camp. They had hired someone knowledgeable in stratagem placement, using the same method the Ares Institute students had successfully employed, hoping it would reduce the enemy’s numbers or lessen the severity of their attacks.
Meanwhile, the Fronda family had to work hard to gather resources to offer the Ares Kingdom as compensation for their daughter’s actions. After several days, the resource gathering was starting to take shape. They expected to succeed in about 1 month. After that, they could start gathering resources for their own family. Otherwise, they might die and leave their lives behind.
Their plans were progressing smoothly. Although many things were not following the novel’s storyline, Grace, seeing that the Fronda family’s situation was beginning to improve, felt much more at ease.
Previously, she had been punished by Professor Lucien, forced to stay with books day and night. She couldn’t concentrate on studying them; the mountain of books was too overwhelming to read. So, she could only sit, lie down, and sketch out the plot of the novel as she remembered it.
Grace vaguely recalled that at the end of the first academic year at Ares Institute, the heroine, who was herself, returned to her family. Due to her previous efforts in helping the prince, Grace became Prince Jason’s fiancée. However, she still didn’t receive enough attention. Therefore, her significance after securing the prince would come in the subsequent storyline!
Everyone knew that Grace’s power was very special because she could deal with demonic toxin. However, this special ability would be confirmed again through the situation during the school break. After the new term started...all the students would look at the heroine differently!
"Terrible. This is terrible!!"
"What? What’s happening?" The female servants ran around in a frenzy. Grace, who had just been released on her first day after being punished with house arrest, furrowed her slender eyebrows. It seemed that a situation that would boost her reputation was about to unfold."Demonic beasts!! Demonic beasts are attacking the capital city of Rhea!!"
