This High Martial World is Too Crazy!!!
Chapter 238 - 236: Fighting to Be a Dog
Chapter 238: Chapter 236: Fighting to Be a Dog
Inside C-City Prison.
Fang Can sat serenely, hands folded, an amused look on his face as he stared at the player before him.
’One soul, two bodies... so that’s what it meant.’
Looking at the player, Fang Can explained with a sardonic smile, "Both bodies are actually yours, but because of the online game, your primary consciousness normally resides in that other world."
"Since you’re controlling it from a world away, your body in this world is undying and indestructible, feeling no pain and no fear."
"But now that your body in that world has been destroyed and you can no longer log into the game... now that you’ve lost your status as a player, do you still get to enjoy those perks?"
As Electrolysis Blood’s gaze filled with mounting terror, Fang Can flicked his index finger.
A force field instantly shot out, whipping around the man’s body like a whirlwind of blades.
SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE!
Like bloody flowers blooming, tens of thousands of gashes instantly appeared on Electrolysis Blood’s body. The cuts, like something from a death by a thousand cuts, covered him from head to toe, each one deep enough to show bone. Blood immediately gushed from the wounds.
This time, there was no game system to block the pain. Having never endured such agony—or perhaps, having never felt pain at all—this person from a future of advanced technology let out a bloodcurdling scream.
"It seems you lot, who were so high and mighty like Immortals before, can finally feel pain."
Fang Can glanced at the freshly stained ground with a hint of disgust. He used his force field to scoop up the blood and stuff it back into the player’s mouth.
But the player’s body was now riddled with holes; the moment the blood entered, it just squeezed back out again like water from a showerhead.
"Pain tolerance test: complete. Next up, let’s test if you can still come back from the dead."
Fang Can spoke with a smile. Just as he was about to exert his power, the players who had already died began to respawn one by one into this world.
"What’s going on?!"
"I’m alive!"
"How did I get back in the game?"
...
The players who had just cheated death raised their heads in relief, only for the wet smack of exploding flesh to ring in their ears. A moment later, they were drenched in blood.
As for Fang Can, he looked at the pile of meat before him with disappointment.
Previously, whenever a player resurrected, their old corpse would despawn, eliminating any chance of exploiting a bug for infinite resources.
The fact that a corpse now remained meant that the player could no longer revive.
The other players understood this as well. Staring at the remains of Electrolysis Blood, their eyes widened in terror as they instantly grasped their own predicament.
A sigh from Fang Can reached their ears. "What a shame. It seems you’ve lost your greatest advantage."
"But that’s a good thing, in a way. Compared to eternal torment, a moment of pain is practically a gift."
"Now, it’s your turn." Fang Can’s gaze fell upon the people before him, his eyes raging with killing intent.
"N-no... please don’t."
"I’m begging you, spare me! I’ll do anything!"
"I don’t want to die!"
...
Watching the players’ pathetic display of begging, the corners of Fang Can’s mouth curled up in pleasure, but his words were ice-cold.
"You’ve lost your most valuable asset—infinite resurrection. You probably can’t even power-level by killing monsters anymore. You’ve been reduced to the ’lowly natives’ you so often talked about."
"There are plenty of Martial Artists who would kill to be my dogs. Trash like you, who only got strong by power-leveling, have no value left."
Fang Can’s tone was utterly contemptuous, but a player immediately cried out, "Wait... I’m not dead yet! I can still resurrect indefinitely!"
"Oh? You’re not dead yet?" Fang Can looked at Bloody Hand Maniac with surprise. ’This guy really is a tough one to kill.’
Bloody Hand Maniac, who had just logged back in, finally felt fear. "Spare me! I don’t want to die yet!"
Following Bloody Hand Maniac’s plea, the other players who hadn’t yet been killed by Fang Can’s luck-based abilities all logged in and began to beg for mercy.
It wasn’t just them. Everyone in the group chat was scared witless.
On the real-world livestreams, they could see players meeting their ends through all sorts of "accidents," as if they were being hounded by the Grim Reaper himself.
In one villa, a player had gotten tangled in an electrical cable and was now dangling gently in the air, legs stiff, like one of those sunny-day dolls.
Through the clear livestream feed, the group members could even see the veins bulging on his neck and his skin turning purple from the pooling blood.
Others were in cities that were vaporized by a nearby Star Destroyer’s "misfire," leaving not even a complete corpse behind.
All sorts of deaths, all sorts of accidents... they could only watch helplessly as their friends died in one bizarre way after another.
It was only at this moment that they truly understood the terrifying destructive power a luck manipulator could unleash in their futuristic world.
"I-I-I-I... I don’t want to die!"
Feng Qiaoyan’s eyes were filled with terror. She clenched the hem of her clothes and ran for her game pod without a moment’s hesitation.
’Even those Martial Artists were getting killed. A physically weak person like me doesn’t stand a chance. And I’m not an orphan; I can’t let my family get dragged into this just because I played a game!’
And she wasn’t the only one.
At that moment, all the players in the group chat who were still in hiding and hadn’t been caught logged into the game to voluntarily turn themselves in to the police.
Their only hope was to meet Fang Can and beg him to show them mercy.
Otherwise, if some other player pissed Fang Can off and he decided to use a luck-based, map-wide attack on all players just by breathing on them, they would be caught in the crossfire.
That would be an incredibly unjust way to die.
Meanwhile, Fang Can was still unaware that miles away, a group of players was desperate to become his dogs. His amused gaze was fixed on the people in front of him.
"You want to live?"
At his question, the surrounding players nodded furiously, like they were pounding garlic.
To survive, they were ready to bow down and lick the soles of Fang Can’s feet.
"But... I’m a man of my word, and I already gave you your chance."
Fang Can spread his hands lightly. "You’re the ones who chose the cards representing death—the Hearts and the Spades. Can’t blame me."
As soon as he said that, the expressions on all the players’ faces froze.
Fang Can hadn’t stopped them from drawing from the 108 playing cards at all; he let them pick freely.
Even if they couldn’t get a Joker, there were at least 52 cards representing surrender and becoming his dogs, yet not a single person had drawn one.
But as Fang Can spread his hands, a few people’s eyes followed his gesture and landed on the four playing cards now sitting on his desk.
They were the two Diamonds and two Clubs that Fang Can had casually set aside earlier.
Suddenly, a player swallowed hard and asked with a trembling voice:
"Lord Fang Can... your game... it isn’t over yet, is it?"
"That’s right," Fang Can said with a smile, his index finger tapping lightly on the cold desk as he stared at the 44 players before him. "There are still about 40 minutes left."
The atmosphere was quiet for a moment, then instantly became murderous.
A player was already running with all his might, lunging for the cards on Fang Can’s desk.
