This High Martial World is Too Crazy!!!
Chapter 239 - 237: The Players’ Act of War
Chapter 239: Chapter 237: The Players’ Act of War
BANG!
In an instant, players slammed their hands onto the table in front of Fang Can.
Four hands each covered a playing card, trying to claim them for their own.
"You dare fight me for the right to be a dog? Get lost!"
With a dull THUD, a fist the size of a sandbag descended from above, instantly smashing down on the fingers of a player who was covering a card.
The terrifying force pulverized his fingers into a bloody pulp. Amidst the player’s screams, the attacker snatched the card and tried to run.
But he hadn’t taken more than a few steps before the other players reacted, roaring as they tackled him around the waist. They threw him to the ground, trying to rip the card from his grasp.
In an instant, the entire confinement cell descended into chaos. The room was filled with the sounds of brawling, furious roars, and agonizing screams.
Gazing nonchalantly at the players fighting over the chance to be his dogs, Fang Can spoke casually.
"My game only has one rule."
"If you die, you lose the right to be my dog, even if you resurrect."
As soon as he said this, the players froze for a moment before their fighting grew even more vicious.
Fang Can watched with an indifferent expression as the once-arrogant players, now covered in blood and grime, scrambled for the cards.
Just then, his phone suddenly rang.
While watching the brawl in front of him, Fang Can pulled out his phone and saw an unfamiliar number.
’A scam call?’ Fang Can wondered as he slid his finger to answer.
The moment the call connected, he heard a clear female voice, choked with tears, say, "Senior Fang Can, help me!"
"You’re... Shallow Loneliness?" Fang Can asked, recognizing the voice on the phone.
"Yes! Ah, no, no, no," the girl said, her words jumbled. "Senior, my real name is Feng Qiaoyan. I’m also... also..."
"Also what?" Fang Can asked, guessing what her hesitation might mean.
"I’m actually... a player, too..." the girl’s voice grew quieter and quieter, laced with guilt. "Shallow Loneliness is my in-game name."
"And?"
"So please, Senior, be merciful! Don’t make me unlucky! I don’t want to die!" the girl said, her voice breaking into a sob.
’I knew it. Such a weird name,’ Fang Can grumbled to himself.
His thoughtful silence made the girl on the other end think he was angry. She said nervously:
"Senior Fang Can, please don’t be angry! I apologize! It was my fault for deceiving you before. Please don’t use your luck to kill me! Even if you kill me, please don’t kill my parents!"
By the end, she was so frantic that tears started streaming down her face.
"Alright, alright. I have no reason to kill you. We’re both superpower users. Boss Ji would chew me out," Fang Can said reassuringly.
"R-Really?" On the other end of the line, the girl’s sobbing abruptly stopped.
"Oh, you should be fine. But your parents should probably be careful not to get killed by other players when they go out," Fang Can said casually, his words making the girl’s heart leap back into her throat.
"Then... is there any way... to..." Feng Qiaoyan asked cautiously.
"It depends on the priority. If the priority to eliminate enemies is higher than the priority to protect others, they might get caught in the crossfire."
"To me, the planets those players come from are no different from worlds full of NPCs. If I can’t see them, they’re just a string of casualty numbers."
"Ah, no. Now they’re not just NPCs. They’re enemies."
"To draw an analogy, your Interstellar Federation illegally invaded our world and, without reason but with clear intent, slaughtered at least ten thousand of our civilians for entertainment."
"And after being arrested, they even issued a declaration of dominance to me, a member of the royal family. This can already be considered an act of war."
"Oh, right. And all of the above, to players like you, was just a ’game.’"
...
As Fang Can explained, Feng Qiaoyan realized just how dire the situation was. This was tantamount to directly provoking a conflict between two nations.
"No, that’s not right, Senior! These are the individual actions of players! The high command of our Interstellar Federation doesn’t know about this," Feng Qiaoyan nervously retorted.
"’Our’? So, you’re saying your stance is with the Interstellar Federation, then," Fang Can said in a leisurely tone.
Only then did Feng Qiaoyan realize her slip of the tongue. She quickly corrected herself, "No, no! I... I’m a superpower user from the New Country."
"Mm, keep that up. Don’t let it slip when you’re talking to other superpower users. Double agents are despised everywhere. Don’t expose yourself," Fang Can reminded her calmly.
"No, no! I’m not a spy! I’ve actually been a citizen of the New Country for a long time," Feng Qiaoyan said hurriedly.
"Enough. You can lie to me, but don’t lie to yourself," Fang Can said flatly. "In any case, you’d better be careful about your status with the Interstellar Federation."
"With this series of incidents, the Federation’s high command is probably already lurking in your game blogger chat groups. Be careful when they come looking for you for a ’talk,’" Fang Can warned.
"Eh? The Federation’s high command is lurking?" Feng Qiaoyan froze. A chill ran down her spine, and her heart clenched involuntarily.
Just as she was about to ask more, she heard a dial tone. Fang Can had already hung up.
He hung up the phone. In the time it took to have that short conversation, the brawl before him had already been decided.
The four players with the highest Realms now held the poker cards. They stood together, glaring fiercely at the other players.
Because the cards were protected by Fang Can’s AT field, they hadn’t been damaged in the slightest during the fierce struggle.
"Lord Fang Can, we have now earned the right to be your dogs."
The four players bowed low, their voices disgustingly fawning. They truly were like four dogs.
But what was so bad about being a dog? At least in the real world, they wouldn’t have to worry about being killed by Fang Can’s luck-based abilities.
"Very good. In that case, the rest of you can die."
Fang Can smiled at the remaining players who hadn’t managed to grab a card as his AT field spread out, preparing to kill them all.
’I... Am I going to die?’
Feeling the AT field cover their bodies, the sensation of death creeping closer rose from the depths of their hearts. The players’ hearts pounded wildly, and their backs were soaked with cold sweat.
In this moment between life and death, it was as if they could hear the lost souls of hell crying out "ZAWA ZAWA".
Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck one of the losing players. As he felt himself suffocating, he hurriedly shouted, "The game isn’t over! Four cards! There are still four cards left!"
’Oh?’ Fang Can smiled and released his field.
Freed from the pressure, the player rushed to explain, "The four Joker cards were taken by other players! My lord, that means I still have a chance, right? And the game timer hasn’t hit zero yet!"
As hope dawned on all the players without cards, Fang Can nodded lightly. "Alright. But you only have half an hour of game time left."
"You have to find the remaining four players somewhere in all of C-City and take my cards back from them. Your time is limited, so good luck, everyone."
"As for you four," Fang Can said, turning to the players who had already gotten their ’dog tags’.
"Log out of the game and contact the high command of the Interstellar Federation for me."
