This High Martial World is Too Crazy!!!
Chapter 76: The One-Drop Rule
Chapter 76: Chapter 76: The One-Drop Rule
With the captain’s explanation confirming that victory was indeed possible, the attitudes of the few Reincarnation Squads softened considerably.
"There’s still one problem," the scar-faced Caucasian captain said, holding the Blessing Potion. "What kind of secret is hidden inside Fang Can’s little villa?"
"In the movie, the protagonist attacks anyone who tries to enter the villa without discrimination. The director said it’s foreshadowing for the sixth installment, so maybe there’s some good stuff inside," a team member beside him commented, nodding slowly.
"So on Carnival Day, while Fang Can is out, we’ll send two people to raid his base. Maybe we’ll trigger another side quest," the captain analyzed.
"Sounds like a plan. We’ll do it that way when the time comes."
The captain nodded in agreement. "It’s settled, then. When Carnival Day starts, one team will raid Fang Can’s base, and the other team will join forces with the Power King to attack Fang Can."
...
After his conversation with Qu Hua ended, Fang Can had no intention of loitering outside and went straight back to his villa.
"How did it go?" Jiang Ning’an asked curiously as he walked in.
"It’s all settled. They said they’ll help protect the civilians during the upcoming Carnival Day," Fang Can said with a smile.
"That’s good. This country is too absurd. Its rulers treat human lives like a game. In that respect, they’re no better than those barbarians from the Great Chu Empire," Jiang Ning’an said.
"Do things like this happen in the neighboring Great Chu Empire too?" Fang Can asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Of course. There is only one kind of person in the entire Great Chu Empire," Jiang Ning’an said slowly. "The Xiang clansmen."
Fang Can was puzzled. "What do you mean?"
"It’s simple. Everyone in the entire nation has the blood of the Great Chu Empire’s founding King, Xiang Tiankuang, flowing through their veins. Every single person in the Great Chu Empire is his descendant."
"All several billion people in the Great Chu Empire?"
"Of course. Xiang Tiankuang’s Blood of Domination has extremely potent effects. The higher the purity of the Blood of Domination his descendants possess, the greater their natural talent."
"So, in order to purify the bloodline, Xiang Tiankuang began to procreate madly, spreading his blood throughout the entire Great Chu Empire."
"After the fifth generation, an order was issued: anyone within the Great Chu Empire without the Blood of Domination was forbidden from practicing martial arts. Subsequently, the Empire began to enforce the ’One-Drop Rule.’"
"Anyone with even a single drop of Great Chu blood is considered a citizen of the Empire. Bloodline identity supersedes all other forms of identity. Furthermore, they refuse long-term residence to anyone from other peoples who does not have the Great Chu Blood of Domination within their last three generations."
"So, as things developed, the Great Chu Empire became populated entirely by Xiang clansmen. Because everyone possesses the Blood of Domination, the men are tall and powerfully built, while the women are bewitchingly beautiful. The purer the bloodline, the more pronounced these traits become."
"This is also why most of the ’Hidden Dragons’ on the Celestial Secret List are those barbarians. Most of their nations have adopted similar methods."
’What is this, some kind of Otherworld inbred-supremacist Rakshasa law...’ Fang Can was struggling to keep a straight face.
’No wonder the Hidden Dragon section of the list is dominated by those guys from the Great Chu Empire. Turns out they’re basically just humanoid biological weapons for Heaven-Ascending Road Martial Artists.’
Fang Can was about to ask if there were any dangers to this kind of inbreeding, but then he realized he was talking about the genes of a Martial Artist at the Fourth Turn of the Heaven-Ascending Road or higher. ’If they can’t even eliminate a trivial issue like the side effects of inbreeding, they’d be pretty pathetic.’
While Fang Can and Jiang Ning’an were talking, a blue-haired girl who looked to be around seventeen walked out from inside the house.
This was none other than Liu Qingmeng’s incarnation in this world.
Most of her power had been consumed in the battle against the superhumans, and the small amount of energy she had left wasn’t even enough to maintain her physical form.
In just a few days, Liu Qingmeng’s incarnation had transformed from an icy, 25-year-old mature beauty into a cool and aloof girl of seventeen or eighteen. By Fang Can’s visual estimate, her chest had even shrunk from a D-cup to a C.
"Fang Can, at your current pace, your body will have transformed into thinking flesh and blood in just a few more days."
"The next step, according to your plan, is to make every cell in your body omni-functional. Then, you will attempt to transform your physique into a brain through your training."
Liu Qingmeng’s voice was cool and aloof, but due to her de-aging, it no longer felt as imposing.
Fang Can naturally understood what she meant. Since his muscles had transformed into a brain, his brain would, in turn, have to take on the properties of muscle.
By then, his entire body would be like a solid plate of iron. Even his internal organs and brain would be harder than steel and more resilient than rubber. He would, in the truest sense of the word, have no weak points whatsoever.
At that point, even if Fang Can were to personally remove his brain from his skull and let an ordinary person hack at it with a sword, it would only produce a few sparks, their blade unable to break its defense.
At this thought, even Liu Qingmeng couldn’t help but marvel at Fang Can’s talent. To think he could successfully cultivate a "low-grade" Cultivation Technique like the Great Sun Undying Demon Body.
That’s right. In Liu Qingmeng’s eyes, the Great Sun Undying Demon Body was merely a low-grade Cultivation Technique. The price for gaining effects like devouring sunlight, fleshly transfiguration, and physical mutation while still in the Transcendent Body Realm was enormous.
A certain Gangzi, who wished to remain anonymous, once said, "There are no useless Cultivation Techniques, only useless people." In a way, he was right.
The more powerful a conceptual Cultivation Technique was, and the more comprehensive the power it granted, the more terrifying the talent required to manifest it.
An ordinary person would need a month just to cultivate the Eighty-Eight Tiger Slaughter Grotto Heavens.
If they were to practice Fang Can’s Great Sun Undying Demon Body—even the original, infinitely weakened version—it would take at least eighty to a hundred years to manifest. They’d probably die of old age before they were even halfway there.
So in a way, what was amazing wasn’t the Great Sun Undying Demon Body, but Fang Can himself, who could master such a Cultivation Technique and forcibly turn fantasy into reality.
After another long night of grueling mental cultivation, Fang Can left the villa early the next morning and made his way to an empty stadium.
This was the spot where he had agreed to meet Qu Hua.
From a distance, he saw a group of seven men and women chatting together. Seeing him approach, Qu Hua waved him over.
As Fang Can drew near, Qu Hua made the introductions. "These are the companions I told you about."
"So, you’re Fang Can."
Before Fang Can could even open his mouth, a Reincarnator with the look of a bombshell cozied up to him. With stars in her eyes, she said, "I’m really into you. We should have a ’private training session’ sometime."
As she spoke, her hand made a move for his waist, but he stopped it before it could connect.
"Li Qiuyu, stop acting like you’re in heat," Qu Hua warned through gritted teeth. He then turned to Fang Can apologetically. "Sorry, my friends can be a handful. I hope you don’t mind."
"It’s fine. You’re all quite... interesting," was Fang Can’s assessment. He then asked, "Out of curiosity, what are your abilities?"
"It’s all physical enhancement-type stuff," Qu Yuan answered vaguely. "Things like firing off shockwaves, super strength, super speed, psychokinesis, that sort of thing."
