Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Espers Are the Real Family

Fang Can’s brow rose. He hadn’t expected the call to actually connect.

’Could it be that no one died this time in the nine-familial extermination?’

With this in mind, Fang Can asked politely, "Hello? Hi, are you a relative of Dali Wang?"

"No, no! Sir, you’ve got the wrong person! I really don’t know any Dali Wang..."

The man on the other end of the line was on the verge of tears, refuting him in a panic.

Having seen the livestream, he knew perfectly well that the two were locked in a battle to exterminate each other’s clans. If he really knew Dali Wang, wouldn’t he be screwed?

"Then..."

"Sir, the father of the Dali Wang you’re looking for should be just up ahead. He was just hit by a car, covered in blood. He’s probably dead," the man explained hurriedly.

"Oh." Fang Can hung up and looked at Dali Wang. "I regret to inform you, your father is dead."

Then, Fang Can added, "Your mother and the rest of them probably won’t survive either."

"Oh, right. And in a moment, I’m going to beat you to death, too."

Silence. A deathly silence. From beginning to end, Dali Wang only stared at him with a look of pure hatred.

The thought that his opponent was furious enough to die but couldn’t beat him—and was about to be killed by him in the next second—sent a thrill of pure ecstasy through Fang Can.

"Since everything is out in the open, let’s end this."

Fang Can smiled and stepped forward. He raised his right foot high and brought it down with crushing force, stomping Dali Wang to death on the spot.

He didn’t leave right away. Instead, Fang Can chose to desecrate the corpse.

The abilities of these superpowered individuals were bizarre and varied. Fang Can wouldn’t feel safe unless he had destroyed both the heart and the brain.

After a series of brutal stomps that reduced the body to a pulp, Fang Can finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He glanced at the time. Only a little over two hours had passed since the start of Carnival Day, yet so much had already happened.

"The rest of the time is going to be busy," Fang Can grumbled, turning and heading toward the city center.

The area was now engulfed in the flames of war. Fang Can looked down on the city from high above, a flash of resignation in his eyes.

"So many insects to squash today."

Fang Can sighed and looked at the drone. "Hey, everyone in Z City, you can start reporting locations in the livestream chat. If there are any red-named players nearby, drop their coordinates."

After speaking, Fang Can pulled out his phone, entered the livestream being filmed by the drone, and watched the flood of bullet comments as he ran.

’It’s a shame my karmic fortune isn’t high enough yet,’ Fang Can lamented internally. ’Otherwise, I wouldn’t even need to lift a finger. I could curse all several thousand of them to death from hundreds of meters away.’

And so he killed, and killed, and killed.

For the entire day, Fang Can didn’t rest. He killed from dawn till dusk, finally clearing out all the criminals in Z City.

Toward the end, Fang Can almost forgot what he was even there to do. In any case, he would just raise a fist and punch, obliterating the entire person.

This year’s Carnival Day was the first time since its inception that all the rampaging criminals had been killed.

After waiting a while to confirm that no one else was emerging, Fang Can sat on the ground, breathing heavily. He was tired from all the killing.

Behind him, a man emerged from the shadows. As he appeared, the drone circling in the sky moved away as if to avoid suspicion.

Fang Can turned his head slightly, his gaze fixed on the man who had walked out from behind him.

The man looked to be in his forties or fifties, with a mess of hair and a vicious scar running from the corner of his eye across his cheek.

Although the man seemed unremarkable, Fang Can’s intuition told him that the threat this guy posed was far more terrifying than the late Dali Wang.

"I’m the leader of the Dragon Group, Ji Donglai." The man didn’t beat around the bush, getting straight to the point with his introduction.

’The Dragon Group...’ An introduction to the organization immediately surfaced in Fang Can’s mind.

It was a legendary organization formed by the great superpowered individuals. Mortals only knew its name but none of the specific details about it.

Something dark flew toward him. Ji Donglai had casually tossed a tight leather suit to Fang Can, speaking with easy familiarity. "It’s hard to talk when you’re naked. Change into these clothes. We can chat after."

"The clothes are too big," Fang Can said, looking at the loose-fitting suit. It was two sizes too large for him.

"Don’t worry. This suit is specially adapted for all kinds of superpowered individuals. It can automatically adjust its size and style. It can transform into any outfit you’ve seen before."

"It also has a self-repair function. You can wear it in any era, modern or ancient."

"Aren’t you going to that other world in a while? You can just wear this."

As Ji Donglai explained, Fang Can put on the suit.

As the suit settled against his body, he felt a sensation of control, as natural as moving his own fingers.

Fang Can thought for a moment, and an image formed in his mind. In an instant, the suit automatically transformed into a shirt and pants connected by fine threads. Although it was still a single piece, it looked like a two-piece outfit.

Watching Fang Can appraise himself, Ji Donglai said slowly, "You’ve been messing around out here for over a decade. Now that you’ve chosen to expose your identity, it’s about time you came back, don’t you think?"

Ji Donglai spoke with utter nonchalance, as if Fang Can’s behavior was nothing out of the ordinary.

It was common for superpowered individuals not to report themselves immediately after awakening. Instead, they would hide their abilities and engage in the whole "show off and slap faces" routine.

Storylines like "The School Belle’s Personal Bodyguard," "The Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain to Live in Anonymity," or "The Superpowered Individual Goes to Jiangnan" played out time and time again.

When the Dragon Group discovered these individuals with their peculiar tastes, they would simply file a record and let them continue showing off in the city. Occasionally, they would even provide a few criminals to act as villains and liven things up for them.

Take Lanhuo Wang, for example. Before he returned to the fold, he spent at least a decade playing around in the city.

As long as the person didn’t come to them, they’d just pretend they didn’t see anything. After all, kids will be kids, right? Just as long as they don’t take it too far.

In any case, they weren’t in a rush. Eventually, once those superpowered individuals got tired of playing, they would naturally return to the organization.

Seeing the silent Fang Can, Ji Donglai continued speaking at a leisurely pace:

"The bond between superpowered individuals is far stronger than any so-called blood tie. I remember from our records that when you were kidnapped, your biological parents abandoned you over a paltry ten million in ransom. If you had revealed you were superpowered earlier, would something like that have ever happened?"

"You should remember the contents of the sixth text in your middle school textbook, right?" Ji Donglai said lightly.

At his words, Fang Can immediately recalled that textbook lesson.

It was about shutting down the power for an entire city to save a single sparrow trapped on a utility pole. Fang Can had always thought the story was ridiculous.

"That was a true story. The only difference is that the bird was being raised by a superpowered individual."

Ji Donglai said slowly, "So come back. What are you doing messing around with that pack of untouchables every day? You’re just lowering yourself."

"We are the only real family you have. This is the bond between the superpowered," Ji Donglai emphasized.

"Including Dali Wang, who I just killed?" Fang Can asked.

"Him? That guy touched the bottom line when he killed two of his own family members. A criminal piece of trash like that isn’t our family. He’s scum that needs to be purged."

"If Lanhuo Wang hadn’t thrown him into Carnival Day, I would have killed him myself long ago."
