Chapter 97: Chapter 97: The Law of the New Country Cannot Be Changed

After a series of twists and turns, Fang Can ultimately decided against sending his brain off; it remained in his head.

The whole business of putting his brain in storage was actually perfectly normal, as reasonable as an ordinary person putting their arm in storage. Not crazy in the slightest.

Even if the girl ended up losing it, he could just grow a new one. It was available on demand, after all.

As long as they tidied up his brain a bit, he really wouldn’t mind lending it out.

Back in his bedroom, Fang Can gazed at the twinkling stars outside his window. His brow furrowed slightly. ’I feel like I’m forgetting something.’

As he thought it over, his eyes suddenly widened. ’What about those superpowered people?’

’From the start of the battle to the end, there was no sign of them. Where did they run off to?’

"Carnival Day has ended. Commencing official return."

With a flash of light, Qu Hua had returned to the Reincarnation Space with his squad.

"Captain, we hit the jackpot!" the fiery young woman beside him cheered excitedly.

"We killed at least three thousand rioters, earning a total of thirty thousand Reward Points."

"And those straggling Reincarnators who were routed by Fang Can—we managed to pick off three of them. That’s another three thousand Reward Points each, plus three C-Level side quests."

As Li Yuqi spoke, a wave of excitement washed over her teammates. They had never had such an effortless victory since becoming Reincarnators.

But they knew full well their victory was only possible because the other four squads had chosen to gang up on Fang Can.

If those squads had scattered and fought from established positions in different locations, they wouldn’t have been completely wiped out.

Thinking about it that way, what an incredible powerhouse to have on their side.

"Everyone rest up for now. Tomorrow afternoon, we’ll formally discuss our upgrades," Qu Hua couldn’t help but smile as he spoke.

"As for the intel from this mission, I believe the other Reincarnation Squads will be very interested," Qu Hua said, and the others couldn’t help but nod in agreement.

Unlike in *Terror Infinity*, according to the high-level Reincarnators, the worlds they traveled to were all real, tangible planes of existence.

The so-called "plots" were merely coincidences, like the infinite monkey theorem. A world might seem to perfectly match a story on the surface, but that was just the tip of the iceberg; the ninety percent hidden beneath was a complete unknown.

Since they were real worlds, it was naturally impossible to experience them multiple times. Later Reincarnators could only enter worlds that had already been explored and altered by their predecessors.

Because of this, the intel provided by previous Reincarnation Squads was very important, as it could help avoid many risks.

"I’m sure the squads that come after us won’t want to miss out on the follow-up content for Carnival Day. After all, this involves the cosmology of a Multiverse," Qu Hua said.

"Should we go back, then?" Li Yuqi asked hesitantly. "That world should have a lot of things we could exploit."

"What are you thinking? It’s so dangerous. Going once is one thing, but going back? You got a death wish?"

A nearby Reincarnator snapped, but was immediately cut off by a panicked scream: "HOLY SHIT! Main God, what the hell is this ’Humanoid Wishing Machine’? When did we get infected with a meme?"

Hearing their teammate’s words, the Reincarnators’ expressions changed. Anyone who read fiction regularly knew what a "meme" was.

They opened their Main God panels one by one, and in the attribute column, the name "Humanoid Wishing Machine Meme" was clearly displayed.

"We’re screwed." Several Reincarnators facepalmed, speechless. This meme was not a good thing; it was infinitely contagious.

From now on, every person they came into contact with would be turned into a carrier of the meme infection, then be projected by the Main God into other worlds to infect them one by one.

If that were the only problem, it might be manageable; at worst, it was just a new status effect.

But what if some Multiverse-level powerhouse got infected? What if, out of curiosity, they used their immense, invisible power to round up every single carrier? That’s when things would get really messy.

According to the accounts of other Reincarnators, their Reincarnation Space was not the first generation. It had gone through countless updates, and countless batches of Reincarnators had died. Several of those batches had died in exactly this way.

But the Reincarnation Space was eternal, while Reincarnators were disposable.

The Reincarnation Space had survived every catastrophe thrown at it, and it continued to tirelessly throw Reincarnators into the myriad worlds, as if that was its entire purpose.

The Reincarnation Space wouldn’t care if they were infected with a meme, but other Reincarnators were a different story.

To avoid being killed by a powerhouse later on, this disastrous aggro-drawing mechanism would draw the attention of the entire Reincarnation Space.

"Captain, what do we do now? We’re infected with the meme," Li Yuqi said, her voice on the verge of tears.

"Should we report it?" a teammate asked, trembling.

"Report it? For a trash-tier Reincarnation Squad like us, reporting it is a death sentence. At best, they’ll give you a little compensation."

Qu Yuan gritted his teeth, his expression grim. "The bold gorge themselves to death while the timid starve. We spread the meme, right now."

"As long as we infect at least half of the Reincarnators in the Reincarnation Space before those powerhouses react, the massive cost of killing us all will make them consider how to remove the meme instead of resorting to a simple slaughter."

"Fucking hell! Going to that world was the worst goddamn luck. To get infected with this shit... son of a bitch!" Qu Hua’s refined demeanor vanished, replaced by a stream of curses. Then, his face went cold.

"Start with a few weak Reincarnators. Infect them one by one. After they’re infected, tell them about the meme. Tell them if they don’t want to be killed by the powerhouses up top, they need to keep infecting others."

"Yes, Captain." To survive, none of them dared to delay. In this situation, the longer they waited, the more likely they were to be exposed. And being discovered meant death.

Just a moment later, the members of the Reincarnation Squad scattered, preparing to unleash a *Resident Evil: Meme Outbreak* upon the entire Reincarnation Space.

It was fortunate that only their squad had made it back alive this time. If several other squads had survived, their differing decisions could have immediately exposed their situation.

「Meanwhile, in the main world」

Following Ji Donglai’s orders, the entire New Country was mobilized.

Late at night, inside the mansion of B City’s richest man, a telephone rang. When the servant answered it, his expression tightened, and he immediately went into the bedroom to report to the mogul.

"What is it?" Wang Hu rubbed his sleepy eyes, his tone gruff. ’Who dares disturb me so late at night?’

"Sir, it’s a call from the higher-ups," the servant said, his expression tense.

The moment the words were out, Wang Hu leaped from his bed. Not even bothering with shoes, he strode forward, snatched the phone, and said in a fawning voice:

"Yes, hello! I’m here. How may I be of service? Whatever you need, consider it done. I’ll work myself to the bone for you."

"Dad, can you please just talk to me normally? It’s been over a decade, how have you not changed?" the superpowered person on the other end of the line said with exasperation.

"Yes, you’re right to scold me, Son. It’s my fault. I’ll slap myself for it later. But the laws of the state are absolute, and I wouldn’t dare overstep my bounds, would I?" Wang Hu said with the utmost reverence.
