Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 217: The Physical System Left

  • Next Chapter

Chloe York suddenly thought of something and asked the Godly Rich System, “Godly Rich System, the Physical System hasn’t shown up in a long time. Is it still here?”

The Godly Rich System replied, “Host, the Physical System has actually already left.”

Hearing this answer, Chloe didn’t seem surprised at all.

“Host, why do you seem so calm?” the Godly Rich System asked. “You aren’t surprised at all. Back then, the Physical System said it was only going on a temporary hiatus and would still come out from time to time to issue missions.”

The Godly Rich System’s tone was laced with astonishment. It had also believed the Physical System’s nonsense at the time. Initially, it hadn’t wanted to believe it, as it was a system itself. Systems received rewards for completing missions quickly and could move on to the next assignment right away. The more missions they completed, the better. They might even get promoted and avoid having to run around everywhere.

There shouldn’t have been any system like the Physical System!

“Probably because I guessed it a long time ago,” Chloe said. “I think the Physical System saw the Scholar System leave and felt that saying goodbye would be too painful, so it made up an excuse. It actually left a long time ago. That excuse was just to let me slowly accept the fact that it was no longer by my side and had moved on to its next host.”

“Wow, I can’t believe you said exactly what the Physical System was thinking!” the Godly Rich System exclaimed. “The Physical System came back once halfway through and said exactly that before leaving for good.”

“This is all thanks to the Scholar System. It gave me my Wisdom value!”

Speaking of the three systems, two had now truly departed, leaving only the Godly Rich System.

“Godly Rich System, when you leave, will you do it quietly like the Physical System, or will you say goodbye like the Scholar System?”

“This… I don’t know either,” the Godly Rich System admitted.

“All right. But I hope you’ll tell me. At the very least, you should say goodbye. Just like when you all arrived—make it a bit lively. I like that.”

“Okay, Host. Don’t worry, I will.”

“Mhm!”

At the Kane villa.

In a completely dark, unlit room with the curtains tightly drawn, Adrian Kane sat on the floor, downing bottle after bottle of alcohol as if trying to turn himself into a liquor cask.

The moment Willow Kane opened the bedroom door, the overwhelming stench of alcohol hit her in the face. She crossed the room in a few quick strides and threw open the curtains. Sunlight poured in, striking Adrian’s face.

As if unable to handle the sudden glare, he raised an arm to shield his eyes. “Close the curtains.”

“Adrian, how much longer are you going to wallow in this misery?” Willow demanded loudly. The current Adrian looked neither human nor ghost; he was an absolute mess.

“Leave me alone.”

“Leave you alone? What, do you think you’re some kind of martyr now? You think you’re some great romantic who just got his heart broken, right?

“Let me tell you, you’re nothing! She never even dated you! You’re just a narcissist! The two of you were never together, you never even confessed your feelings, and you barely even count as friends! What are you doing pretending to be so deeply in love? Why are you drinking yourself to death? Who is this pathetic display even for?”

Willow grew angrier the more she yelled. She didn’t even know what she was saying anymore; she just wanted to scold some sense into Adrian. She just couldn’t understand it. They had never even been together, so how did he suddenly fall so hard for the girl?

In her mind, her brother was absolutely not the type to play the devoted, pure-hearted lover! How could he be acting so hopelessly smitten? Just because he didn’t end up with the girl he liked, he was acting like the sky had fallen.

“You don’t understand,” Adrian slurred. “You don’t understand how much I like Chloe.”

“Right, of course I don’t! I’ve already investigated everything between the two of you. Chloe is indeed a wonderful girl, but Adrian, tell me, since when did you become a champion of pure love?”

“I don’t know what a champion of pure love is. I only know that she hates me.” Whenever Adrian thought about Chloe York hating him, an intense ache gripped his chest. Why did Chloe have to hate him? He hadn’t done anything wrong.

“Adrian, I don’t know why Chloe hates you, but I do know that if you keep this up, she’ll hate you even more. Because right now, you’re emotionally blackmailing her.”

“No, I’m not. I’m not emotionally blackmailing her.”

Willow’s words instantly agitated him. How could he emotionally blackmail Chloe? That was the last thing he would ever do to her.

“You’re not? Then what happens if you drink yourself into the hospital? When people ask why you’re in such a state, you’ll say it’s because Chloe is ignoring you. Tell me, how is that not emotional blackmail?”

“I won’t say it’s because of Chloe. As long as I don’t say it, it’s not emotional blackmail. I won’t let them know. I won’t let anyone know.”

Adrian was heavily intoxicated, his words beginning to loop. Seeing that her harsh approach seemed to be working, Willow decided to press the advantage.

“But your actions are emotionally blackmailing her! If they aren’t, then what you should be doing right now is cleaning yourself up, managing the company, and pulling yourself together. You need to let her see your excellent side. Don’t all girls like successful men?

“What about you? Don’t you like outstanding women? Would you like someone who drinks themselves into a stupor like you are doing right now?”

Willow said no more, simply staring at Adrian, waiting to see if he could figure it out himself.

Her words seemed to strike a chord. Swaying on his feet, Adrian shakily stood up.

“You’re right. I can’t be like this. I need to be an outstanding man. I have to let Chloe see that. I don’t know why she hates me—maybe there’s a misunderstanding. I need to clear up this misunderstanding.”

Willow wanted to say that misunderstandings weren’t always so easy to clear up, especially when they didn’t even know what the misunderstanding was. However, she knew this wasn’t the time to bring that up. The most important thing right now was to stop him from continuing down this destructive path.

“As long as you understand. Go take a shower, clean yourself up, and come downstairs to eat.”

Leaving him to it, Willow headed downstairs first. She was truly worried sick about him. Because Adrian hadn’t gone to the company for the past few days, she had been the one managing the business. She really couldn’t stand the old fogeys at the office anymore, which was why she had stormed over to Adrian’s place—to force him to pull himself together and get back to work.

Heeding Willow’s instructions, Adrian cleaned himself up, transforming back into the neat, handsome, and domineering CEO he usually was.

He went downstairs to eat, and once he finished his meal, Willow drove him straight to the company. She ordered him to work hard and become an outstanding man so he could eventually appear before Chloe York again.

After handing out her orders, she left the office, and Adrian earnestly began his work.
