Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable
Chapter 218: Smug Brooke York
Dottie: [Host, I’ve detected that Chloe York seems to only have one system left on her.]
“What? Only one system left?” Brooke York, who had been lying on her bed, was shocked by Dottie’s words. How could the perfectly fine systems suddenly be reduced to just one?
Dottie: [Yeah, it’s so weird. How did she suddenly lose two systems?]
Dottie’s tone sounded utterly baffled.
“Never mind why she only has one system left. Didn’t you say you would unlock new functions? Have you unlocked anything yet?”
Dottie: [Host, I’m sorry. Dottie hasn’t unlocked anything.]
“What? Nothing?”
Dottie: [Because Chloe York, the vicious female supporting character, has a magnetic field that is too strong right now. She has already surpassed you, the female lead, so…]
“So what?”
Dottie: [So she has become the female lead of the book now.]
“What kind of bullshit is that? Can the female lead just change back and forth? Isn’t everything already fixed by the author? How can the female lead change?”
Hearing that Chloe York had become the female lead drove Brooke to the brink of madness. She felt it was completely unfair. Why was Chloe the female lead now? The female lead was supposed to be Brooke York, just as it had been from the very beginning. How could it possibly change halfway through?
Dottie: [Dottie doesn’t know what’s going on either, but Host, you are indeed no longer the female protagonist. However, look on the bright side! Chloe’s systems are decreasing too. Isn’t that a good thing?]
“You’re right, you’re right. Chloe’s systems are decreasing too. She’s not doing much better than I am.” Brooke’s tone filled with joy. “Since the female lead position can change from me to her, it can naturally change from her back to me again. Right, Dottie?”
She seemed to have discovered a loophole.
Dottie: [It seems like that could be the case, but Dottie isn’t sure.]
Brooke seemed completely deaf to the second half of the sentence, latching only onto the first part. As long as it was possible, that was all she needed. She was the real female protagonist, and the position rightfully belonged to her.
While she was still rejoicing, she heard her roommates return. She rolled her eyes silently. These people were really something else. Hadn’t she just pissed them off? Hadn’t they slammed the door and left? Why were they back so soon?
But soon, she noticed something was off. She heard the sound of packing. These girls were making a massive racket, throwing things around with a loud CLANG and BANG until it was deafening.
She aggressively yanked her bed curtains open. “You guys are so loud! What are you doing? Trying to tear the dorm apart?”
Only after opening the curtains did Brooke realize her roommates were actually packing their belongings. Were they moving out?
“What are you doing? Are you moving out?” Brooke asked curiously.
“Yeah, we’re moving out,” one of the roommates stopped to reply, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Since you want us to worship you and we simply aren’t worthy of such high status, we’re making ourselves scarce and rolling out of your way.”
“Exactly. We’re leaving this entire dorm for Your Highness to live in all by yourself.”
Even though her roommates were speaking with heavy sarcasm, Brooke was still thrilled. With them gone, this dorm would be her sole domain. *This* was the proper treatment for a female lead.
“Dottie said Chloe is the female lead now, but that’s clearly not true. It’s obviously still me,” she mused. Maybe these people moving out was a direct result of her female lead halo.
“Oh my, you’re making me blush,” Brooke gloated. “But thank you so much for being so sensible and moving out. You know I prefer having a room to myself.”
“You, having a room to yourself? Keep dreaming!”
“My bad, I misspoke earlier,” the roommate corrected with a smirk. “When I said we were leaving it for you to live in alone, that wasn’t actually true. Our counselor already said they’ll be assigning some junior-year upperclassmen to live with you later.”
“What?” Brooke had been fully anticipating living by herself. She never expected they would arrange for upperclassmen to move in. Why? Why couldn’t they just leave it empty? Couldn’t they just let her live alone?
“Didn’t you say you wanted people to worship you? If you can get the junior-year seniors to admire you too, then that’ll prove you actually have skills. Just be careful not to get your roles reversed—you might end up being the one groveling to them!”
“But then again, that’s how it should be, right? They’re juniors and you’re just a freshman. As a freshman, you should properly serve your seniors. Who knows? If you suck up to them well enough and make them happy, they might just grant your wish and throw a little admiration your way!”
“Let me tell you, wipe those smug looks off your faces!” Brooke retorted. “So what if upperclassmen move in? We’ll probably get along great! I’ll get along with them way better than I ever did with you. You’re the ones who don’t know what’s good for you!”
“We don’t know what’s good for us? How exactly do we not know what’s good for us? Is it because we didn’t blindly worship you? So that makes us ungrateful, right?”
“Alright, stop talking to her. She’s just purely delusional. It’s ridiculous.”
Saying that, the girls hurried to pack their things, clearly wanting nothing more to do with Brooke. Brooke, however, was in exceptionally high spirits. She crossed her arms over her chest and watched them pack.
“You don’t want to talk to me? Well, I don’t want to talk to you either. Hurry up and move! Get out so the upperclassmen can move in. This isn’t your dorm anymore, so clear out and don’t get in the way of the new arrivals.”
As Brooke said all this, her roommates practically tuned her out on autopilot, ignoring her completely.
Brooke didn’t mind and continued talking to herself, “Actually, having junior-year upperclassmen is great. At least they aren’t lapdogs for certain people. They’re much smarter than some others I could name.”
“You—” One of the roommates was about to snap back, but another quickly pulled her away. “Stop talking to her. You can’t reason with this girl. The more you talk to her, the more you’re just going to piss yourself off.”
“True. Why bother trying to make sense to someone who doesn’t listen?”
The girls stopped talking and sped up their packing.
“Yeah, yeah, you have nothing to say to me. I guess you only have things to say to your precious Chloe. Since that’s the case, hurry up and get out!”
It took the group half an hour to pack all their belongings and move them out into the hallway. In an instant, the entire dorm room became empty and spacious.
Students from other dorms heard the commotion and poked their heads into the hallway to see what was happening. Seeing that Brooke’s roommates were moving out, they weren’t the least bit surprised. They had all heard the rumors about Brooke, so none of them liked her. Instead, they overwhelmingly preferred Chloe.
Brooke climbed down from her bed triumphantly. Looking at the empty dorm room, she felt incredibly satisfied. So what if upperclassmen wanted to move in? She could just kick them out too.
