Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 224: Brooke York Kidnapped Sophie Lane

  • Next Chapter

Sophie Lane went to a designer boutique and happily went on a shopping spree. When she was about done, she headed to a nearby restroom. Unexpectedly, as soon as she walked in, a hand clamped over her mouth and nose. Her designer shopping bags tumbled to the floor.

She woke up in a daze, finding herself in an abandoned building, tied up tightly. Several men were patrolling the area, clearly guarding her.

“Who are you? What do you want?” Sophie demanded.

The man closest to her glanced at her but didn’t say a word. Seeing that they were ignoring her, Sophie knew she had to find her own way out.

“Boss, I have money. I can give it to you. Will you just let me go?”

Sophie suddenly remembered all her designer goods scattered on the restroom floor; she wondered if these men had taken them. Did they kidnap her for ransom because they saw her buying so many luxury items?

“Brothers, I have money, a lot of it. Let me go, and I’ll give it all to you, okay?”

The men remained completely unmoved. Usually, people would at least respond to an offer like that. Were they not after money?

“Are you after my money or my body? We can talk about this, right? Don’t just stand there in silence. If you don’t speak, I don’t know what you want. And if I don’t know what you want, how can I give it to you? Then kidnapping me would be completely pointless!”

No matter what she said, the men ignored her. They didn’t look at her, nor did they answer. Their stony silence only made Sophie more terrified. If they spoke to her, she might still have a chance to figure out an escape plan. But their silence meant they were impervious to both threats and bribes. She couldn’t possibly escape on her own.

“Who sent you? You can at least tell me that!”

They still ignored her. Since they wouldn’t answer, she would have to guess.

“Is it Miles York?” Sophie could only guess Miles, as he was the only capable person she had offended, and she hadn’t crossed anyone else.

No, wait. There was one other person: Brooke York.

The moment Brooke’s name popped into her head, the girl herself appeared. The man standing at the entrance opened the heavy doors, and Brooke’s figure slowly walked in.

“Brooke York, it’s actually you. You dared to kidnap me.” Seeing Brooke, Sophie suddenly felt her fear dissipate. How amusing. Brooke’s father had used money to placate her, hoping she would stop threatening Brooke. Yet, his own daughter had just ruined his painstaking efforts.

“That’s right. Why wouldn’t I dare to kidnap you? Didn’t expect it to be me, did you?”

Sophie turned her face away. Now she knew why these thugs had ignored her. It seemed Brooke had paid them more. It made sense; for thugs pulling this kind of job, a quick background check would reveal that Brooke was the heiress of the York Family. The money she offered would certainly be far more than what a blackmailer like Sophie could scrape together.

“Sophie Lane, you’re really something, daring to threaten me.” Brooke stopped in front of Sophie, the corners of her lips curling up into a contemptuous smirk.

How dare this bitch threaten her! Did she really think she was a pushover? Now, she was going to show Sophie exactly who she was messing with, making her regret ever provoking and threatening her.

“What? You literally stole my spot for college, and I can’t threaten you? It’s your own fault for scoring a zero on the exam.”

As soon as those words left her mouth, Brooke slapped Sophie hard across the face. A bright red handprint instantly bloomed on Sophie’s cheek, showing just how much force Brooke had used. The thing Brooke hated and loathed hearing the most was people bringing up her zero score, and Sophie had done exactly that.

Despite being slapped, Sophie just laughed. The fact that her words could still anger Brooke meant she still cared deeply about it!

“How dare you? How dare you still say things like that? You’re still not afraid of me, are you?”

“Brooke York, you think I’m scared of you? If your dad finds out you’re doing something like this, imagine how disappointed he’ll be. I’m afraid he’ll just value Chloe York even more!” Sophie’s tone was dripping with sarcasm.

But saying this undoubtedly fueled Brooke’s fury even further.

“After all, your dad has to follow you around every day, wiping your ass, yet you just keep causing trouble. Tell me, how disappointed must he be?”

“Shut up.” Brooke landed another slap on Sophie’s face. “Why can’t your mouth ever say what I want to hear?”

Brooke then gripped Sophie’s jaw tightly and leaned in. “Do you think provoking me and bringing up Chloe York will make me lose my cool? I’ll let you run your mouth for now, but in a minute, you’ll find out the consequences of offending me.” She forcefully shoved Sophie away and stood up straight. “Take good care of this female college student who almost made it to university. I think she’ll taste pretty good.”

As soon as Brooke said this, the men who had been acting all serious suddenly turned their sleazy, leering gazes toward Sophie.

“Brooke York, don’t you dare!” This time, Sophie was truly terrified.

To be honest, she hadn’t taken Brooke seriously at all. In her mind, Brooke was nothing to fear—why would she care about an idiot who scored zero in every subject? Why would she be afraid of a girl who needed her dad to handle everything for her? But today, she finally saw Brooke’s true colors. She was a vicious, snake-hearted person. She might be incompetent, but she was rotten to the core. If she was truly violated… No, wait. Knowing Brooke’s malicious nature, she might have these men assault her and then kill her.

Brooke remained unfazed. Her silence only amplified Sophie’s terror. Realizing that Brooke fully intended to let these men assault her, she frantically begged for mercy. “Brooke, I won’t threaten you anymore! Please let me go, okay?

“I mean it! I’ll never appear in front of you again. I swear I’ll disappear! No one will ever find out that you stole my college spot—it’ll be a secret forever. Please?”

Sophie pleaded relentlessly, hoping Brooke would spare her.

“Weren’t you acting so tough just a minute ago? Weren’t you comparing me to Chloe York? Why are you begging now? It’s too late!”

With that said, Brooke ignored Sophie’s pleas entirely. She shot the men a meaningful look and walked out. She would never let off anyone who offended her. Sophie was just the beginning. She was the protagonist, and all these people were merely supporting characters meant to make her shine. She could deal with them however she pleased.

Even after Brooke stepped out of the iron gates, she could still hear Sophie’s desperate begs for mercy.

“Ah, the weather is so nice today! What a perfect day to be happy.”

Brooke left the area in an exceptionally good mood, completely unaware that the moment she walked away, Chloe York appeared.

It wasn’t that she deliberately came here, but rather that it was a convenient spot to throw out the trash. If she took the main road, it would take her five or six minutes, but taking this shortcut only took three. However, seeing how eerily quiet it was here, she felt a sudden wave of apprehension.
