Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable
Chapter 233: Brooke York Disdains the System
At this moment, Brooke York had completely shut herself in her room. She didn’t want to go out; it felt as though the moment she stepped outside, all she would hear was good news about Chloe York.
She wanted to hide away inside. As long as she stayed hidden, she wouldn’t have to hear it. Moreover, as long as people didn’t see her, they couldn’t laugh at her.
Suddenly, Dottie’s voice echoed.
“Host, I do not detect a system on the villainous supporting female character, Chloe York.”
“What did you say?” Brooke’s head snapped up.
“Host, I just sensed that there are no presences similar to my own left in this world. Therefore, Chloe no longer has a system. All other systems have left.”
“I thought you had to physically see Chloe to sense anything? How can you sense it now without even seeing her?” Brooke asked, her tone laced with suspicion.
Usually, whenever she asked this system to do anything, it had to get right in front of Chloe to sense anything or provide answers. Why was it suddenly capable of doing it now without her being present?
“Like I just said, I can no longer sense any presence of my kind. Previously, because I knew of their existence, I specifically activated my function to detect them. But just now, I lost all traces of them.”
Hearing this, Brooke gripped the edge of the bed and stood up, swaying slightly before bursting into laughter. “It’s really gone! Haha! Chloe, you don’t have a system anymore! You don’t have a system, but I still do! Next up is my turn. It’s time for me, the female lead, to take center stage!
“You villainous supporting character, you shameless bitch! Stealing my female lead halo! Look at you now—your system has abandoned you!”
“Host, I am also leaving.”
The vindictive smile on Brooke’s face instantly froze. “What did you say?”
“Because the supporting female character of this world has gone abroad, and the plot has severely collapsed. In fact, this can no longer be considered the original novel. Therefore, the so-called protagonists and supporting characters no longer exist.”
“What does that mean? Speak plainly!” Brooke gritted her teeth, practically shouting the last two words.
She actually already knew what it meant, but she refused to admit it.
“It means the villainous supporting character is no longer a villainous supporting character, and the female lead is no longer the female lead. This is now just an ordinary world, so there is no need for a system like me to stay here.
“Goodbye, Host!”
As if afraid Brooke would go crazy on it, the system quickly tacked on a goodbye after its explanation and vanished.
“Dottie.
“Dottie, Dottie!” Brooke screamed at the top of her lungs, but Dottie never responded. It was clear that the system had truly left.
“Why? Why are you leaving now when you just showed up? Chloe’s system appeared early, and she’s obviously just a villainous supporting character! Why did she get a system first? I’m the female lead! I finally got a system, and it hasn’t even been that long! I haven’t gained anything yet, and now you’re leaving! On what grounds? Why is everything so unfair to me?!”
Brooke loudly leveled her accusations at the empty room, looking exactly like an abandoned madwoman.
She couldn’t accept the system’s departure. When she first bound with the system, it explicitly told her she was the female lead. So why had this world suddenly begun revolving around Chloe, the villainous supporting character? Chloe’s system had left, so hers had to leave too? From where she stood, she seemed more like the villainous supporting character! What kind of female lead ended up like this?
“Ah! It’s unfair! So unfair! System, come back! I’m the female lead! Come back, you have to help me!”
Brooke screamed forcefully. It seemed like she was begging the system to return, but in reality, it was more of an unhinged release of her pent-up frustration.
Standing outside the bedroom door, Alice Cole listened to the commotion inside. Because of the heavy door, she could only hear the noise, not what Brooke was actually saying. Assuming her daughter was just venting her anger, Alice sighed helplessly.
She could easily imagine how manic Brooke must be acting inside.
She wondered what her daughter had seen online this time that she couldn’t handle.
It seemed she needed to find something for Brooke to do, something to give her hope. Perhaps she would have to wait until Miles York returned to discuss it.
That evening, the moment Miles returned home, Alice told him her plan.
“Let Brooke go work at your company!”
“Are you joking? Let Brooke come to my company? What does she even know how to do? Look at her—she’s a complete wreck right now, looking neither human nor ghost.”
Miles spoke of Brooke with utter disgust. He never imagined his daughter would turn out like this. It made no sense!
His genetics were perfectly fine. And apart from being a bit muddled in the head, Alice’s genetics were fine too.
So how did they produce a child who was not only dim-witted but also completely hysterical?
“What do you mean? What do you mean by ‘neither human nor ghost’?” Hearing Miles speak of Brooke that way, Alice instantly flared with anger.
Was she only her daughter? She was their shared daughter! How could he speak about his own flesh and blood like that?
Miles seemed to realize his words had been too harsh. He awkwardly rubbed his nose. “That’s not what I meant. I just mean that Brooke’s emotions are too unstable right now.”
“Hah, too unstable. And whose fault is it that her emotions are unstable? It’s all Chloe’s doing.”
“Alice, you really have a huge problem. I feel like you’ve never reflected on why Brooke turned out this way. A big part of the reason is that you constantly drag Chloe into everything at the drop of a hat.
“Every time Brooke makes a mistake, you always say it’s all Chloe’s fault. Teaching her like this means she’ll never realize where she went wrong. Whenever she makes a mistake, she’ll just push the blame onto others. Sometimes, when you’ve clearly done wrong, you don’t immediately reflect on it. Even if your habit is to push the blame onto others, you still need to know deep down that you were in the wrong and that you need to change. Stop lying to yourself, alright?”
“Miles, spare me the grand lectures. Let me just ask you this: isn’t Brooke’s current emotional instability entirely because of Chloe? If Chloe didn’t exist, would her emotions be this unstable? So who is really lying to themselves here?”
Seeing that Alice was still acting like this, Miles knew there was absolutely no getting through to her. Even though he had told her this countless times, she always had an excuse to argue back. “Fine, there’s no reasoning with you. Since you put it that way, let Brooke go to the company then!”
Alice let out a cold snort. What did he mean, there was no reasoning with her? It was obvious he just realized her words made sense! But as long as she got the desired result, that was all that mattered.
As long as Brooke went to the company, her emotions would definitely stabilize, and she would undoubtedly work hard. After all, wasn’t Brooke’s goal to become the CEO of the York Group? Wasn’t her goal to gain her father’s respect? This outcome was for the best.
Afraid Alice might spout something else he couldn’t stomach, Miles stood up and retreated upstairs.
