Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable
Chapter 232: Finding a Good Nanny
As soon as Chloe York returned to her rented apartment, she heard the Godly Rich System’s voice.
Godly Rich System: [Host, I am leaving.]
Hearing the Godly Rich System say this, Chloe wasn’t surprised at all. The moment she heard the final reward was ten thousand yuan, she knew it was her last mission. That was why the reward was so massive.
“I know.”
Godly Rich System: [Host, you know? How did you know? I never told you!]
“Your last mission rewarded ten thousand yuan. With a reward that huge, it’d be hard not to figure it out!”
Godly Rich System: [Alright. Host, now that we’re all leaving, will you be able to get used to it?]
“I definitely won’t be used to it for a while, but it can’t be helped. All good things must come to an end. You have your own work and quotas, and it’s time for you to help other hosts complete their missions!”
Godly Rich System: [Host, actually, you are my very first host. I’m so happy that my first host was someone as smart and proactive as you.]
“That’s all thanks to the Scholar System and the Physical System.”
Godly Rich System: [You are all amazing! Host, I’m going to bind to my next host now. Goodbye!]
“Goodbye!” After Chloe said her farewells, the entire apartment seemed to plunge into silence. Truth be told, she was incredibly reluctant to see the systems go. From the moment she arrived in this world, these three systems had been by her side. They were her first acquaintances here. They helped her grow step by step, build her fortune, change the original host’s tragic ending, and ultimately save herself.
Now that they were all gone, how could she not feel sad? But just as she had said, all good things must come to an end. She could only hope that the hosts the three of them bound to next would complete their missions swiftly, paving a smoother path for the systems’ futures.
Ah well, she’d better hurry up and pack her luggage. She had originally planned to start packing as soon as she got back from school today anyway. Unexpectedly, she had gone to a party instead and hadn’t packed a single thing yet!
At the Prescott villa.
“How’s the search for a nanny coming along? Chloe is going abroad tomorrow.”
Sophia Quinn had heard Ethan Prescott mention he was looking for someone, but with Chloe leaving tomorrow, she still hadn’t seen anyone. Ethan hadn’t brought a single candidate over for her approval.
“She’s coming over today. She should be here around eleven-something. Once she arrives, you can see if she’s suitable. If she is, she can just head straight to the airport with us tomorrow,” Ethan replied.
“Wait, isn’t she local? Where did you find this person? Is she reliable? If she’s not, just tell her not to come. I have a backup candidate ready on my end; we can just send her instead!”
Worried that Ethan might find someone unreliable, Sophia had been secretly looking for a nanny herself just to be safe. She had secured one as a backup, meaning if Ethan’s choice fell through, her candidate could seamlessly take over. After all, they had made a promise to Chloe, and it wouldn’t do to break it at the last minute.
“She’s very reliable, just don’t worry about it!”
Seeing Ethan so confident, Sophia didn’t press the matter further. She was quite curious to see exactly how reliable this person her son had found actually was.
Soon, it was past eleven o’clock, just as Ethan had said. Sure enough, a servant came in and announced that someone was at the door applying for the nanny position.
“Let her in!”
“Yes, Madam!”
A moment later, the servant led a woman into the room. The newcomer appeared to be in her early forties. She had an honest, down-to-earth aura about her and was dressed very neatly.
“Hello, Mr. Ethan, Mrs. Prescott. My name is Hazel Miller, but people usually prefer to call me Ms. Miller. I’ve been in this industry for over a decade; you can safely leave the young miss in my care,” Hazel introduced herself, standing attentively.
“You already have over a decade of experience? But you look like you’re only in your early forties. Did you start working in this field in your twenties?” Sophia hadn’t expected someone who looked to be in her early forties to have been in the industry for over ten years.
“No, no, I only started in my thirties. I’m actually almost fifty years old; I just look a bit young for my age,” Hazel said, looking a little bashful.
“I see. I assume you already understand the general situation? You won’t be working here in this house, but rather traveling abroad to take care of our precious daughter. I wonder, do you mind going overseas?”
“Not at all, I don’t mind. Mr. Ethan has already explained everything clearly, and I am perfectly fine with it.”
“Can your family accept you going so far away? Your children won’t mind?”
Truthfully, Sophia wasn’t worried about Hazel herself changing her mind. Her main concern was that Hazel’s family might feel she was too far away. If they backed out halfway and came causing a scene at the house, demanding the nanny be brought back, it would be quite a hassle.
“They won’t. My family is very supportive. My husband works as a butler domestically, and sometimes he travels abroad with his employers too. As for my children, they are also studying overseas, just in a different country.”
“Is that so? Your family is quite impressive then! Top-notch!” Sophia gave her a thumbs-up. She hadn’t expected this couple to be so capable, managing to afford sending their children abroad for their studies.
Hazel smiled shyly.
“Alright then, go whip up a couple of dishes for us to taste. If your cooking skills are up to par, I believe you won’t have any issues with cleaning and such.”
“Certainly. I’ll go right now.” Hazel set her luggage down and headed straight to the kitchen to cook.
“Hey, Ethan, this person you found seems pretty good. But wait… I don’t think I told her where the kitchen was. How did she know?”
“She’s been doing this for over a decade and has worked in many households. She’s practically got a sixth sense for figuring out where a house’s kitchen is, even if it’s her first time there.”
“Fair enough.”
Hazel worked quickly. In just about fifteen minutes, she had already stir-fried two dishes. One was a tomato and egg stir-fry, and the other was cured meat with garlic scapes.
“Wow, smells amazing!” Before even tasting it, Sophia was already captivated by the aroma.
She picked up her chopsticks and tried a bite of the garlic scapes. They weren’t too tough or too soft—just right. The natural fragrance of the scapes had been drawn out and perfectly melded with the savory scent of the meat. She took another bite of the tomato and egg stir-fry. The tomatoes were cooked to a perfect tenderness, while the eggs were soft and fragrant.
“Not bad at all. The taste is excellent. Though, I don’t believe I told you where the kitchen was. How did you know?” Sophia couldn’t help but ask Hazel.
“It’s probably just intuition. I’ve been doing this for so long that my subconscious just naturally hones in on where it is.”
“Alright, you’re hired,” Sophia finalized the decision.
“Thank you, Mrs. Prescott.”
After Sophia had a servant arrange Hazel’s living quarters, everyone turned in for the night. After all, they had to see Chloe off tomorrow!
Back in his own room, Ethan stared at Chloe’s number saved in his phone, debating whether or not he should give her a call.
