Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable
Chapter 231: Farewell Dinner
Chloe York returned to her rented apartment and immediately received a call from Stella Winters. She knew Stella must be calling out of concern.
“Chloe, are you alright?” Sure enough, the moment the call connected, Stella’s worried voice came through the receiver.
“I’m fine. I was the first one to notice the seawater flooding in, and then I saved our classmates and helped them evacuate! So many of them… No, wait, it should be the entire school’s student body. And the teachers, too. I saved them all.”
Chloe sounded proud. Having saved so many people this time, she was genuinely proud of herself. In the past, she had only ever saved one person at a time.
Never mind what anyone else thought—even she felt like a great hero right now.
“Wow, Chloe, you’re so amazing! You really saved a lot of people this time. It’s even being reported on the news here abroad. Do you know how shocked I was when I heard the name of our school? I wanted to call you immediately, but I was afraid of delaying your escape, so I waited a bit. And to my surprise, after waiting just a little while, the internet was all over the news saying you saved all your classmates!”
Hearing her friend’s excited rambling, Chloe smiled.
“Yeah. So, aren’t you proud to have a friend like me?”
“Beyond proud! I was proud of you before, but now I’m even prouder!”
The two chatted for a little while longer before hanging up. Chloe then took a hot shower; she felt like she was covered in sweat.
It wasn’t until she came out that she noticed she had new WeChat messages. It turned out to be a message from one of her teachers, saying the students were planning to treat her to a meal as a farewell party before she went abroad.
After all, she was leaving the country tomorrow.
Chloe didn’t refuse. She freshened up and headed to the address they sent.
As soon as she arrived, she saw many classmates and teachers waiting for her at the entrance, which made her feel a little embarrassed.
“Chloe is here!”
“Wow, the great hero is here.”
The students were overly excited to see Chloe and quickly gathered around her.
“Chloe, thank you so much for today!”
“Yeah, thank you! I live in a dorm on the second floor. You saved my miserable life!”
“Chloe is the great hero in our hearts! She saved all of us. If it weren’t for her, I’m afraid none of us would be standing here tonight. We might still be trapped upstairs in the school!”
This group of thankful students wasn’t the same as the ones from earlier in the day. Because there were simply too many students, they hadn’t had the chance to say thank you during the evacuation. So now, they had deliberately waited at the entrance of the hotel just so they could rush to thank her the moment she arrived.
“Alright, students, let’s head inside the hotel first. We’re drawing a bit too much attention out here.”
It was only when the teacher spoke up that the students realized they were still standing out on the street. “Chloe, we booked an entire floor—a whole banquet hall—just to hold your farewell party!”
Hearing this, Chloe was quite shocked and surprised. She had thought it was just a small group of classmates organizing a gathering for her. She never expected them to book an entire hall. Just how many people were going to be there?
It wasn’t until Chloe stepped into the hotel that she realized just how grand this farewell party was. They had actually reserved the entire banquet hall, which could easily hold at least twenty tables.
Seeing Chloe arrive, all the students stopped talking and stood up to applaud, welcoming her in.
“Come, Chloe, you must sit in the seat of honor.” Soon, some classmates came over and surrounded her, leading her toward the main seat at the center table in the very front.
“No, no, no, I’ll just find a random seat.”
She had never sat in a main seat at the front center table before. She always felt that such seats were reserved for elders, powerful figures, or high-ranking officials.
“Chloe, you have to sit here. You’re the most suited for it. Everyone here today had their lives saved by you. You are our lifesaver, so you fully deserve to sit in this seat.”
“Yeah, you’re the most qualified to sit there. Just sit down, Chloe!”
“That’s right, that’s right!”
Hearing her classmates’ persuasion, Chloe didn’t want to be overly modest anymore. “Alright, then I’ll sit.”
After she sat down, someone clapped their hands, and the waiters immediately began serving the dishes. Seated at her table were a few classmates from the broadcasting station who had helped broadcast the evacuation with her, as well as the principal and the director.
Once all the dishes were served, the principal took the lead. He picked up his cup, substituting juice for alcohol, and stood up to propose a toast to Chloe. Seeing the principal stand up, the other students also picked up their cups and stood.
“Chloe, we dedicate this cup to you. If it weren’t for you, none of us would be here like this. You saved us. Therefore, we must toast you with this cup, using juice in place of wine.”
After speaking, the principal drank all the juice in his cup. Seeing this, the other students also finished theirs.
“You’re all too kind.” Since everyone else had finished their drinks, it wouldn’t be polite if she didn’t do the same, so she directly downed the juice in her cup as well.
She noticed the principal didn’t sit down. Instead, he picked up the orange juice bottle to pour another cup, clearly intending to say something else and toast her again.
Chloe hurriedly stopped him. “Principal, you don’t need to toast me again. I know everyone gathered here today to thank me.
“But I want to say that we are all classmates. Who knows how much fate it took for us to become classmates in this life? So, saving you was something I did completely willingly. If you all truly want to thank me, how about this? In the future, after graduation, if you become big bosses or big stars, just remember to offer me a job or give me your autograph, alright?”
“That’s definitely not a problem! If I become a big boss, Chloe, you can be my vice president… No, you can be the CEO!”
“If I become a big star, I’ll get you anyone’s autograph you want.”
“That’s right. In the future, no matter what our professions are, as long as Chloe needs help, we will definitely go all out.”
“Okay, okay, thank you all in advance. Actually, I’m quite hungry. How about we eat first?”
Everyone laughed at Chloe’s words.
“Right, right, right, that was our oversight. It seems none of us have eaten since noon. We must all be starving.”
“Yeah, yeah, everyone is hungry, so let’s eat first!”
Finally able to sit down and eat in peace, Chloe exhaled a long breath. She really was quite hungry.
After dinner, the students prepared to leave. They had originally planned to go karaoke singing, but considering she was going abroad tomorrow and they were afraid of taking up her time, they decided to cancel it. Everyone just had a good meal and then went their separate ways.
