Chapter 1692: Chapter 42: Arrival Once More
Holy City… Holy Church, Papal residence.
Vasco Paladin was swiftly walking down the corridor… with a grim expression — he had returned with Father Strala and four Squire Candidates, and it’s been a few days, using the corridor of the Unhuman Domain.
Things were far more severe than Vasco had imagined.
Five Descending Angels, all fell in this battle, the Paladin Camp was even on the verge of being crippled… As for the clergy unit, even if they summoned those from all around the mainland, gathering half of the previous combat power would be problematic.
This will be the weakest and most difficult period in the Holy Church’s history — the only somewhat fortunate thing is that this matter has temporarily been kept under wraps.
However, it’s unknown how long it can be hidden.
At this moment, a nun with disheveled clothing suddenly burst out from a room in the corridor… Vasco paused, looking at the nun who was holding her collar, her face slightly red, tears in her eyes, she lowered her head upon seeing Vasco and hurriedly ran off without time for pleasantries.
“Oh, Vasco, so early!”
Then, a blond young man emerged, fastening the buttons on his shirt sleeves, glowing with radiance… none other than Father Strala.
“You bastard, Strala! You…” The Paladin’s forehead veins bulged, eyes ablaze, “You actually… actually caused scandal in the Papal Palace!! I should have cut you down! I shouldn’t have agreed to the Pope to bring you back!!”
“Tsk.” Father Strala scornfully said, “Trash, Vasco, I’ve been gone for so long, the resources here are never utilized by you, such waste!”
The Paladin suddenly rushed forward, rolled up his sleeves looking ready to strike.
But at that moment, a priest with black clothes hurried over, “Great, Lord Vasco, and Lord Strala, you’re both here… The Pope asked me to find you!”
“I’ll deal with you later!” Vasco said through gritted teeth.
Father Strala mumbled, “I didn’t mess with your granddaughter… Besides, I was merely giving young, lovely girls a body massage, understand it’s for circulation and energy flow?!”
Somewhere in the Papal Palace, a massive noise suddenly erupted… a section of a corridor directly exploded.
A moment later, Vasco Paladin and Father Strala arrived at the Pope’s study.
The elderly Pope even had a blanket covering his legs… He adjusted his glasses, looking at the two and furrowed his brows, “What happened to you?”
Vasco Paladin’s eyes were completely black and blue… while Father Strala’s right arm sleeve was torn open.
“Pope! I believe you should reconsider the decision to appoint Strala as the Pope candidate!” Vasco Paladin said expressionlessly.
Father Strala agreed wholeheartedly and nodded, “I agree with Vasco’s proposal.”
Vasco and the Pope were both taken aback, then heard Father Strala continue, “I think you, old rascal, should abdicate immediately, and directly give the papal seat to me.”
“Heresy! Heresy!” Vasco Paladin was about to draw his sword.
Father Strala reached into his pants and scratched, “Shut up, trash!”
“Alright, stop messing around.” The Pope pinched his forehead, “I’ve summoned you today because there are important matters to instruct you on… Strala, there’s a summit meeting, I hope you can make the trip.”
“I just got back?” The priest said idly, “I was planning to overturn cases a few days later… I want to re-examine all the prisoners in Shenwei Prison.”
“How could there be so many injustices?” The Pope said irritably, “Those prisoners, I’ve had someone intercept and bring them back… What if those felons escape en route? Now that you’re back, do your work honestly. I’ll give you a satisfactory answer about the Amunst matter later.”
“There are so many pure nuns in the Papal Palace waiting for my preaching!” Father Strala shook his head.
The Pope said expressionlessly, “Besides you, there’s another team leader. She is Sister Ravinia, one of the most outstanding women in the Holy Church, twenty-five years old this year. Blonde, height 173 cm, you have the skill to measure her three dimensions yourself… Are you going?”
“Oh?” Father Strala slid his hands over his hair, then added Holy Light effects, exposed his shiny teeth, and said casually, “Just a hooligan act to see whose fist is bigger at a meeting… Rest assured, I’ll let my fists persuade others.”
“Hope you follow through.” The Pope said indifferently, “This meeting location is in Hua Country… handle it yourself, I’m really looking forward to you persuading with fists.”
“Tsk, seems I’ll need to transform into the mighty King of the Mouth this time.” Father Strala shook his head, “My fists, alas, don’t hit women.”
The Pope simply waved his hand, not planning on saying more, with everyone being aware of Strala’s habitually vile mouth tricks of their era.
…
After waving off Father Strala and Vasco, the Pope sighed.
This moment, a flash of light cast down into the Papal Palace… among which the mighty and divine aura instantly caused the heart of everyone in the Holy Church headquarters, knights, clergy… even the Pope, to skip a beat.
A white shadow was hovering before the Pope.
“Are you… the current Pope of the Holy Church.” The white figure gradually became distinct… feathers emitting subtle white light scattered.
What the Pope saw was a matchlessly beautiful angel, dressed in white yet draped in a black robe.
“My name… Uriel.”
— Holy Flame!
The Pope hurriedly ignored his body’s weakness, stepped out, and knelt before this angel… He could somewhat guess the reason for this angel’s descent.
“Keep my descent a secret… declare me only as an ordinary angel.”
…
“Trash, Vasco, why are you dazing?”
Outside, Father Strala frowned at the acquaintance he’s known for nearly a lifetime, “I said, let you inquire about that Sister Ravinia, did you hear me?!”
“Are you genuinely foolish or feigning madness?” Vasco angrily said, “Can’t you sense it? This holy aura! Hmm… it vanished?”
Vasco looked gravely towards the location of the Pope’s study.
Father Strala followed Vasco’s gaze with confusion… Hmm, he saw nothing.
“Don’t change the subject!” He couldn’t help but put his hand on Vasco’s shoulder, furrowing his eyebrows and saying, “I seriously suspect that this so-called Sister Lavinia has already become your RBQ! That’s why you’re not telling me! Be honest with me! With our years of friendship, even if it’s a matter of ‘friends’ wife’ betrayal, I feel embarrassed to even talk about such things!”
Vasco Paladin shook his head. This matter, it seems, can only be avoided by asking the Pope when he can avoid Strala… But the aura of holiness, could it be a new Descending Angel appearing?
“Do you want to know about Sister Lavinia?” Vasco suddenly asked.
“Isn’t that obvious?” The priest said matter-of-factly, “Recently I watched a very magical eastern movie, where a woman called Holy Maiden of the Dragon Sect was dosed with a kind of aphrodisiac secret medicine and then taken advantage of by the protagonist. Ever since, the protagonist’s power exploded directly! I’m thinking about whether this secret medicine can be developed!”
Even Vasco Paladin, who was already used to Strala’s lack of moral integrity, had to be amazed by his brother’s low limits at this moment. He shook his head and said, “Don’t get any bad ideas like that. Lavinia has made a lifelong vow. Don’t harm her, or I’ll come after you!”
“A lifelong vow?” When Father Strala heard that, he shook his head like a frost-bitten eggplant and said, “No fun.”
Vasco couldn’t help but be surprised at Strala, “Really strange, I thought you’d say that’s even more exciting.”
Father Strala responded with absolute seriousness, “I used to think so too until fifty years ago when I messed around with a nun who made a lifelong vow. It was then I realized I was quite naive. Just imagine, you’re in the midst of the act, and the woman under you keeps calling out the Lord’s name. I just felt like I was live-streaming, with another guy watching the whole thing. Such a shitty feeling, how can anyone enjoy it?”
“Heresy, you truly are heresy!” The Paladin immediately drew his sword, “To the Duel Platform then! Nothing more to say!”
“There, there! Today I’ll beat the crap out of you!” The priest directly rolled up his sleeves.
A few clergy members nearby bowed their heads and passed by, glanced at them, and then continued to walk past.
—These two are at it again… such good companions.
Or something like that.
…
…
On the ground, across the ocean… in a certain mansion in the Union States.
The servant girl was busy in the mansion… The female owner of the place was now in the courtyard, polishing a silver handgun — even as the servant girl passed by, they dared not make a sound, fearing to disturb the woman who had just become the mansion’s owner.
Snap, snap.
After disassembling the handgun, the mansion’s female owner quickly reassembled it with terrifying speed… She raised the gun, aimed at a certain place, then directly pulled the trigger.
Bam—!
The bullet shot out, causing the trunk of a large tree in the courtyard to shake momentarily — after which, a figure fell from the vibration.
It was directly shot through the forehead… dead.
Right after the figure fell, a servant girl immediately came over to take the body away… these servant girls were already accustomed to such things — even today, this was the second similar occurrence.
These were all assassins quietly sent by those in the organization who were dissatisfied with the ruling of the mansion’s female owner.
As the servant girls dragged out the body, another woman arrived in the courtyard… The servant girls promptly bowed their heads, “Lady Katerina!”
The woman waved her hand for the servant girls to leave quickly, then walked up to the mansion’s female owner and sat down, “Lamias, I’m offering you a change of venue. This was Charles’ former residence. You’re too much of a target here.”
“Isn’t this quite good.” The mansion’s female owner… Lamias, now casually smiled and said, “As long as I’m here, the rats will come out voluntarily. If I move to a hidden place, they won’t even find the way.”
Lady Katerina shook her head.
Curiously, she couldn’t have anticipated that Lamias, upon her return, would be so assertive… even possessing such terrifying power that with one person alone, she’d directly subdue the present Black Religious Congregation.
Though the power of the Black Religious Congregation was already sapped…
“What’s the matter?”
Lady Katerina thought for a moment, “The location of that conference in China is already set.”
“What’s it to do with us?” Lamias shrugged, “That’s a conference between major countries… the Black Religious Congregation has never been involved.”
Lady Katerina, however, looked serious, “Today, two people claiming to be external agents from the Shen Zhou Administration Bureau found me and delivered this… an invitation letter.”
“Shen Zhou… Administration Bureau?” Lamias frowned immediately, “How did they find us?”
Lady Katerina replied with a bitter smile, “It’s not how they found us… but rather that they knew where we were all along.”
“The Holy Church has been pursuing the whereabouts of the Congregation all these years but has never found anything?” Lamias furrowed her brow and said, “What do you mean?”
Lady Katerina said, “You were just part of the action group before, so you didn’t know much about these things… It seems, I should take the time to fill you in on the true giants of the supernaturals hidden behind this world.”
“Hmm… I’m listening.” Lamias nodded but unexpectedly waved her arm again, pointing the gun, as a shot rang out, and another figure fell from a rooftop in the distance.
Only then did she place the gun on the table, stretch lazily, and say, “Go ahead, now there’s nothing wrong.”
“The current supernaturals in the world, except for the Undersea City which only we know, are divided into three different regions.” Lady Katerina said slowly, “Eastern China, Western Oth Continent, and the Americas here with North and South America; these places basically maintain a state of mutual non-interference… But there is one rule that both North and South America and the Oth Continent adhere to, which is to never step into China’s territory… As a matter of fact, if it weren’t for the Shen Zhou Administration Bureau issuing an invitation, it is estimated that the majority of Non-Humans in North and South America and the Oth Continent wouldn’t have the opportunity to step into this eastern land in their lifetime…”
Lamias couldn’t help but feel a shock in her heart… There’s indeed much she does not know — although her lifetime adds up to be extraordinarily long, ninety-nine percent of that time was trapped in one place, and the things she knows are pathetically few.
“We refer to her as the true dragon of the east,” Lady Katerina said sternly, “She is currently the only universally acknowledged, utterly invincible existence in the world.”
