Hessa tied a black cord around the Abyss Pressure control.

The knot meant unavailable by choice, not cooldown. Jiang could still distinguish a nonphysical source passively, but the active containment that had rescued the earlier test was forbidden.

"If you reach for it, I close the dive," Hessa said.
