He immediately headed inside but didn’t see any sign of Rose Shaw.

"Rose Shaw!"

The bathroom floor was soaked, the bathtub was full to the brim, and water was everywhere. As Christopher Sterling took it all in, his heart felt like it was being squeezed in a vise, and he could barely breathe.

He found Rose Shaw’s phone on the sofa outside.

He turned it on and found that the battery was still full.

’Her phone is here, so where could she be?’

’Everything in the apartment suggested Rose Shaw was not okay at all!’

In the middle of the night, Lana Sheffield was jolted awake by a sharp pain from her incision. She glanced at the sofa to her side—it was empty.

"Christopher?"

She called out weakly, but there was no response in the room.

The baby was sleeping soundly in the bassinet nearby. Since she still couldn’t move, she quickly pressed the call button on her bedside.

The on-duty nurse immediately came to the room.

"Have you seen my husband?" Lana asked the nurse.

"Mr. Sterling left about half an hour ago. He instructed us to monitor your room. Are you uncomfortable? Do you need us to do anything?"

"Where did he go?" Lana glanced at the dark sky outside, her heart sinking.

"That... I’m not sure. Perhaps he went to get a late-night snack."

Lana felt a little better after hearing the nurse’s suggestion.

"Could you hand me my phone, please?"

The nurse handed the phone to Lana, who immediately dialed Christopher’s number.

"Honey."

"You’re awake?"

"Yes. My incision really hurts. I woke up and you weren’t here. Where did you go?"

"I’ll be right back." Christopher hung up abruptly.

Lana set her phone aside, now wide awake.

’Rose Shaw has been with Christopher for so many years. Could there be something between them? Even if Christopher doesn’t feel that way, there’s no guarantee she doesn’t.’

’That woman is so much trouble!’

’I just had a baby, and I already have to deal with this!’

’Rose Shaw, that bitch. She absolutely cannot be allowed to stay at the company.’

Ten minutes later, Christopher returned to the hospital. He hadn’t even pushed open the door to the room when his phone rang.

Lana heard Christopher’s voice from the hallway.

"What time?"

"Which hospital?"

After two short questions, she heard his footsteps fading away.

’He’s leaving again?’

’Where is he going?’

’What hospital? Who is he rushing off to see?’

’I’m still lying here in the hospital! Why is he leaving again? Who is he in such a hurry to see?’

Lana grabbed her phone and dialed Christopher’s number.

"Christopher, why aren’t you coming back? It hurts so much. Can you please come and be with me?"

"Rose Shaw attempted suicide."

"What?" Lana froze. The emotional shock sent a wave of excruciating pain through her abdominal incision. "I... I didn’t do anything to her. Why would she..."

The line went dead.

Lana lowered her phone as tears streamed down her face. The baby beside her woke up and started to cry.

A fresh wave of misery washed over her.

’Christopher must have gone to find Rose Shaw. He definitely has feelings for her!’

’Rose has been by his side for so many years. He trusts her so much he put her in charge of Stellaris and wouldn’t even let me get involved. My position is lower than hers.’

’How could I have been so stupid at the beginning? I actually thought Melody Monroe was the other woman.’

’But really, Rose Shaw is my biggest threat!’

...

Christopher Sterling had received news that Rose Shaw was brought to this very hospital!

He found the room number and pushed the door open. Keith Coleman turned around, and their eyes met.

On the hospital bed, Rose Shaw’s face was ashen. He immediately rushed to her side.
