Chapter 513: Unlocking the Shackles 3
Keith Coleman suddenly shot to his feet, blocking Christopher Sterling. He grabbed his shoulders and forced him right out the door.
Caleb White had warned him that even though his cast was off, he still needed to be extra careful for the next six months. But today, he just wanted to fight.
Christopher Sterling grabbed Keith Coleman’s hand, his own grip powerful.
"What are you doing here?"
"You’re the one who brought Rose Shaw to the hospital?"
"What’s it to you?" Keith Coleman retorted. He suddenly wrenched free of Christopher Sterling’s grasp, the corner of his lip twitching into a sinister smile. "Christopher Sterling, you’d better stay away from her from now on! Otherwise, I can’t say what I might do!"
"I don’t think you’re in any position to say that."
Christopher Sterling suddenly grabbed Keith Coleman’s shoulder, shoved him aside, and walked toward the hospital bed.
The pain in Keith Coleman’s shoulder was so sharp it felt like the bone might fracture.
’Heh! Interesting!’
As Christopher Sterling gazed at Rose Shaw in the hospital bed, a complex and unpleasant feeling churned within him. It was a sensation so intense, so unfamiliar, that it was completely beyond his control.
"Christopher Sterling, what the hell do you think you’re doing?" Keith Coleman strode forward, yanked Christopher around, and threw a punch.
Christopher Sterling hadn’t expected the sudden attack and took the full force of the punch.
Suddenly, he grabbed Keith Coleman’s arm. Keith felt a sharp, searing pain as his right shoulder popped out of its socket!
He immediately swung his left arm, striking back at Christopher Sterling.
The commotion from their brawl alerted the on-duty nurse outside.
"What are you two doing? Stop it! Stop fighting!"
But neither of them stopped. Even with one arm dislocated again, Keith Coleman wasn’t letting Christopher Sterling get the upper hand.
A cacophony of shouting roused Rose Shaw, and she furrowed her brow.
’Didn’t I die?’
’Is this heaven or hell? Why is it so loud?’
She slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was a blur of white, clearing only after a few seconds. Her body felt heavy, as if filled with lead, and she couldn’t move an inch.
She tilted her head, her gaze drifting to the side.
’Keith Coleman?’
’Christopher Sterling?’
’And a few nurses holding them back... Where am I?’
Slowly, she lifted her hand, staring at the IV needle stuck in it and the various machines beside her bed...
’I’m not dead?’
She slowly closed her eyes as a single tear traced a path from the corner of her eye. She tried to speak, but a fiery pain flared in her chest. Every breath she took sent a fresh wave of agony through her, making her eyes well up with tears.
Unable to make a sound, she could only struggle to sit up.
The simple act exhausted all of her strength.
"You two..."
Her voice was so weak she could barely hear it herself.
Suddenly, Keith Coleman turned and saw Rose Shaw sitting up in bed. He immediately let go of Christopher Sterling and rushed to her side.
"Rose, you’re awake?"
Rose Shaw gave a slight nod.
Keith Coleman suddenly pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly.
"You scared me to death! I thought... I was so scared... I... I just knew you’d be okay."
Rose Shaw raised a hand and gently patted Keith Coleman’s back. She wanted to comfort him, but her own heart was filled with a bitter sorrow.
’If I had died, it would all be over.’
’But living... living is just endless torment.’
Keith Coleman helped Rose Shaw lie back down. "You just woke up. Don’t move around too much. Are you uncomfortable anywhere? I can get the doctor to come check on you."
Rose Shaw shook her head. There wasn’t a single part of her body that felt comfortable. Everything hurt, but she couldn’t pinpoint the source of the pain.
Christopher Sterling walked toward the bed.
