"Melody, there’s something I’ve been wanting to ask you. I feel like... with this Jedediah Scott business, could there be some kind of misunderstanding? This... this doesn’t seem like something you would do."

Melody froze for a moment, then let out a long sigh.

’She had to take the fall for this.’

"I’m going to make a call."

Keith Coleman watched Melody, wondering who she was going to call.

’He still had to hurry and report to President Fairchild. Honestly, if they didn’t have to consider the Fairchild Family, a public announcement would be the best way to handle this.’

Evan Fairchild listened to Keith Coleman’s report and asked, "What are Melody’s plans?"

"She said she’s going to make a call."

Evan Fairchild glanced at his own phone. "She’s calling Ian Monroe."

"President Fairchild, about this..."

"Follow her lead."

"So no public announcement? Is it causing trouble for the Fairchild Family?"

"It’s not that it’s causing trouble. I just don’t want to put any mental pressure on her."

’Keith nodded. This whole affair really was unsavory. It would make the entire Fairchild Family a target for public gossip, and Melody would definitely be under immense pressure. They also had to consider how she would get along with the rest of the Fairchilds in the future. Thinking about it that way, if they made a public announcement now, even President Fairchild would end up with a reputation for being blinded by a pretty face. Ian’s identity still wouldn’t be accepted, not with the Jedediah Scott incident hanging over their heads. Melody would face even more criticism, accused of using her son to secure her position, which would just stir up more trouble. And then, the Fairchild Family would get dragged into the mess as well. That’s just how the entertainment world worked. You couldn’t stop people from talking. They could only suppress the mainstream media, and sometimes, the more you tried to clamp down on something, the more violently it backfired.’

...

Melody found a quiet place and took out her phone. She dialed Ian Monroe’s number.

"Mommy!" An excited voice came over the phone. "You’re not busy right now? How do you have time to call me?"

"What are you up to?"

"I’m playing chess with Rose. Auntie Rose came to see me today, and she even bought me a birthday present."

"Rose is there too?"

"Mhm, I even asked Auntie Rose to stay for dinner."

"Good. You’re wonderful, Ian."

"Mommy, did you need to talk to me about something?"

"Yes, I want to talk to you about something. After I finish this event and come back to Jansburg, I’d like you to attend a press conference with me."

"A press conference?" Ian didn’t quite understand.

Rose Shaw looked up at Ian Monroe the moment she heard that.

’Melody wants to hold a press conference with Ian?’ She immediately pulled out her phone.

"I want to tell everyone that you are my son."

"But didn’t Rose say we couldn’t let anyone know about me? That it would really affect your work, and you might never get to be an actress again."

Ian’s little face grew tense.

"Don’t be afraid, Ian. Things are different now," Melody soothed.

"I’m not scared at all. I’m just worried it will affect you."

"No, it won’t affect me at all. I also want everyone to know that you’re my precious boy."

"What about Dad?"

"We can’t announce our relationship with your father for the time being."

"Okay!" Ian nodded with a smile, feeling a strange sense of excitement.

’They’re only revealing his relationship with Mom, not with Dad!’

Rose Shaw watched Ian. ’Why is the boy so happy to hear they won’t be revealing his connection to President Fairchild?’

"Mommy, I’ll be waiting for you at home. Is it really cold in Argent? Make sure you dress warmly."

"I know. Can you put Auntie Rose on the phone?"
