Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 574: Fight As We Must
"And you’re still laughing!" Melody Monroe was on the verge of tears.
Evan Fairchild immediately wiped the smile from his face, not daring to provoke the fiery little wildcat any further.
Once they were off the plane, Melody Monroe started walking at a brisk pace. Keith Coleman had told her that fans were waiting to greet her, but because of the press conference, a horde of reporters was also there to ambush her.
Evan Fairchild left the airport ahead of her.
The airport staff had made arrangements in advance, but a commotion still erupted the moment Melody Monroe emerged. Hordes of fans held up their phones, snapping photos of her relentlessly. Keith Coleman and his team stuck close by Melody Monroe’s side. Compared to the massive entourages of other celebrities, Melody’s team was still just the same three people.
"Please be careful, everyone! Don’t push, we don’t want any accidents!" Talia Mercer instructed those nearby.
"Melody, Melody!" many fans shouted excitedly at Melody Monroe.
Keith Coleman flanked Melody Monroe, keeping their pace fast.
"Sorry, we’re not taking any media questions today. Save them for the press conference. Please let us through, Melody has another engagement to get to."
Footage of Melody Monroe leaving the airport was already circulating online.
Eileen Scott held her phone, watching the video. Beside her, Lana Sheffield was carefully placing her sleeping son into his crib.
"Sis."
"Shh!" Lana Sheffield, afraid of waking her son, put him down and then walked out of the room.
Eileen Scott immediately followed her.
"Sis, do you really think Melody Monroe hasn’t been affected by this at all? Why are there still so many people at the airport to greet her? Her popularity is as strong as ever."
"Times are different now. Decades ago, something like this would have ruined a person. If Melody Monroe were actually carrying Jedediah Scott’s illegitimate child, that might have had some effect on her. And while what she’s done in the past is certainly disgraceful, having a baby is something that can be spun for a comeback. Especially when she has such powerful backing."
"Are you saying we should have Yasmine Scott stir up trouble again over Melody Monroe being her dad’s mistress? So, Evan Fairchild really is Melody Monroe’s sugar daddy?"
"It’s highly likely."
"Then what do we do? With Melody Monroe latched onto such a powerful backer, how are we supposed to fight her?"
"We proceed as planned."
"I understand. I’ll go make the arrangements right away."
"No, don’t get involved in this yourself. Have Wayne Payne find someone to arrange it privately."
"Is your husband still holding a grudge over that? Sis, this is just... I mean, Elijah is already a month old, and he’s barely come to see him! You’ve been living with the Sheffield Family this whole time, and he completely ignores you. Does he actually want a divorce?"
"That’s enough! Keep your voice down!"
"Sis, you were never like this before. How did you let Christopher Sterling change you so much? The more you act this way, the more he’s going to look down on you!"
"Enough. My relationship with your husband is my own business, you don’t need to worry about it! He’s gone abroad for Sheffield Family matters, and he’s been extremely busy. I can’t take care of myself and the baby alone if I go back, but here at the Sheffield estate, I have support. It was my decision not to go home. When he misses me and the baby, he comes to the Sheffields’ to see us."
"Oh, I see. Well, that’s good then."
"Alright, you should go home now. I want to get some sleep."
"Okay, I’ll head out then."
The moment Eileen Scott left, tears welled in Lana Sheffield’s eyes. ’Does Christopher Sterling really not want me and our son anymore?’
’But if he doesn’t want me or our son, why is he still so invested in the Sheffield Family’s affairs?’
’Deep down, he must still have feelings for me. He’s just still angry right now.’
’He doesn’t like Rose Shaw. If he did, they would have gotten together years ago.’
Lana Sheffield could only keep telling herself this every day to feel better.
Otherwise, she was sure she would become depressed.
