Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 575 - 755: What a Scene of a Benevolent Father and a Filial Son
Evan Fairchild got home before Melody Monroe.
As soon as Ian Monroe saw the car, he rushed out excitedly.
"Mommy!"
After Evan Fairchild parked the car, he saw Ian Monroe looking crestfallen.
"Didn’t Mommy come back with you?"
"She’ll be here in a little while."
"Then I’ll just wait here." Ian Monroe sat on the steps, cupping his little face in his hands as he continued to wait for his mom.
Bunny lay at his feet, perfectly still.
Evan Fairchild walked over and sat beside his son. "The press conference is tomorrow. You’ll have to face so many people. Are you scared?"
"Why would I be scared?"
"Aren’t you nervous?"
"Nervous... no, that’s not right. I’m actually a little excited."
"Excited about what?"
"Auntie Rose said that my existence is like a ticking time bomb for Mom. I used to be really scared of people finding out that Melody Monroe is my mother. But I’m not scared anymore."
"I don’t see you being scared. In fact, you seem a little smug."
"Dad, thank you."
Evan Fairchild was taken aback.
’Did this kid have a change of heart?’
’Why is he suddenly thanking me?’
"Auntie Rose said that because of you, this time bomb won’t explode. Because you’re here to protect Mom, things aren’t as scary as she used to worry they’d be."
Evan Fairchild suddenly felt that Rose Shaw wasn’t so bad after all.
"From now on, I’ll get along with you. I won’t make you angry anymore." Ian Monroe suddenly held out his small hand, offering a truce to Evan Fairchild.
Evan Fairchild took the small hand and nodded.
"Except for when you’re trying to steal Mom from me."
Evan Fairchild was at a loss for words.
’You can’t believe a single word this kid says.’
’Except for when he’s trying to steal his mom? That just means he’s going to keep fighting me!’
"Ian Monroe, has it ever occurred to you that you’re the one trying to steal my wife?"
Ian Monroe tilted his little head and shook it. "I knew Mom first. You came later."
"Did all those science lessons I gave you go in one ear and out the other? Without me, there would be no you!"
"But, you only showed up when I was over three years old! I’d never even seen you before, and you never came looking for Mom! So, I was the one with Mom first, which means we’re closer."
Evan Fairchild was speechless.
"You have an older brother."
"From you and another woman?"
"Let me finish! He’s your cousin, your second uncle’s son. Just a couple of days ago, I beat him so badly he could barely walk." Evan Fairchild was trying to use this story to let Ian Monroe know that he, too, could get a beating.
’Why is it that that kid, Liam Fairchild, looks like he’s seen a ghost whenever he sees me, but my own son isn’t scared of me at all? Instead, he makes me so mad I could just die.’
"Doesn’t he have a dad?"
Evan Fairchild was at a loss for words.
"Aren’t you curious why he got a beating?"
’How could I let a four-year-old sidetrack the conversation like this?’
"I’m just curious why his own dad didn’t hit him. Why did you have to do it?"
"So what you’re saying is, a dad is allowed to hit his own son, right?" Since Evan Fairchild couldn’t bait his son into following his line of thought, he decided to follow his son’s logic to achieve his own goal.
"So..."
"So, a dad wouldn’t have the heart to hit his own son! I’m a very good boy, so don’t worry. I won’t get hit by my elders in the future either."
Evan Fairchild felt a tightness in his chest.
When Melody Monroe returned, she was greeted by the sight of a loving father and a dutiful son by the door.
"Mommy!" Ian Monroe immediately ran over and threw himself into Melody Monroe’s arms.
"It’s so cold out here. Why didn’t you go inside with Dad?"
