Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 769: Kitty Rory
Ms. Lowe sighed. ’Beautiful flowers don’t bloom for long, and happy days are fleeting.’ Titus was gone, her rose garden was gone, and her parents were gone. Only she was left, barely clinging to life.
She glanced at the busy June, her brow furrowed slightly. Her expression was strange—a mixture of disgust, aching tenderness, and self-reproach...
"Mom, Auntie Zhao said we should plant some bok choy in this patch. What do you think?" June’s crisp voice broke through Ms. Lowe’s reverie.
Ms. Lowe smiled. "That’s a good idea. Bok choy is delicious in soup."
"We can also plant a loofah gourd! Auntie Zhao said they produce a ton of fruit. One vine would be enough for us, and it can grow all the way from here to over there!"
June’s face was rosy, and a light sheen of sweat dotted her forehead. Her expression had brightened considerably. She liked this new life. Her mother seemed to be doing much better, and June was full of hope for the future.
’As long as Mom can be well, I’m willing to stay by her side forever. Even if I can’t go to school or leave the house, I’ll do it gladly.’
"Yes, and we can build a grape arbor. We can sit in its shade in the summer and eat grapes." Ms. Lowe was in a good mood, too. She liked this small town—it was quiet, with few people, and no one knew her.
CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK...
The speckled hen clucked excitedly. June’s eyes lit up, and she trotted over to the chicken coop to retrieve an egg. "The chicken laid another egg!" she said happily. "It’s been laying one every day!"
"She’s a good hen. Give her some rice as a treat." Ms. Lowe touched the warm egg, her eyes curving into crescents as she smiled.
At that moment, mother and daughter were beaming, creating a beautiful and harmonious scene—a picture of a peaceful life.
June grabbed a handful of rice. Just as she was scattering it on the ground, Tang Xiaonan ran in, followed by Rosalind Green and the others.
"June, I brought you a little kitty! The puppy will have to wait a few more days."
Tang Xiaonan held up the little orange kitten in her arms. The village chief, Preston Thorne, had a cat that gave birth to two little orange kittens. Tang Xiaonan had gotten both, kept one for her family, and was giving this one to June.
MEOW...
The kitten was plump and round, its big, innocent eyes gazing at the unfamiliar surroundings in bewilderment. It seemed a little scared, shivering every so often.
June fell in love with the kitten at first sight. She reached out and gently stroked its head. The kitten closed its eyes in enjoyment, lounging comfortably in Tang Xiaonan’s hands like a little lord.
"This little kitten is so adorable. Thank you, Xiaonan."
June took the kitten, reluctant to let it go. Ms. Lowe came over as well. When she wasn’t having one of her episodes, she carried herself with an elegant air. Even in plain clothes, her stunning beauty and grace couldn’t be concealed.
"You’re welcome! June, you should give the kitty a name."
Tang Xiaonan’s eyes crinkled with her smile. ’People who like small animals must have a soft heart,’ she thought. ’June will definitely treat this little kitten well.’
June racked her brain, wanting to give the kitten an elegant yet catchy name, but she wasn’t satisfied with any of the ones she came up with. The kitten was quite bold and quickly familiarized itself with its new surroundings, darting about on the floor like an orange ball rolling back and forth.
"Just call him Rory."
Ms. Lowe had tossed the name out casually, but the kitten actually stopped and cocked its head to look at them. After a moment, it ran off to play again.
"The kitty understands! It likes the name Rory," Tang Xiaonan exclaimed in delight.
"Rory it is, then. Rory, from now on, you’re part of our family. I’m June, and I’m your sister. That’s your mother over there. Got it?"
June solemnly introduced herself and her mother. Rory cocked its head, looking at her with a dazed, adorable expression. When she finished speaking, it let out a MEOW and went back to tumbling around and playing.
Ms. Lowe watched with a gentle smile. Rory’s arrival had cheered her up considerably, and her eyes followed the kitten as it scampered about.
