Chapter 314: Chapter 314: boyfriend VII

A few minutes later, Christopher’s name was called.

Vivienne immediately sat up straighter.

She watched as he stepped toward the piste.

His fencing mask was already in his hand.

He stopped at the edge of the strip and looked toward his opponent.

Then, almost instinctively, his eyes moved toward the competitor seating.

Toward her.

Vivienne smiled.

She lifted one hand.

"Go, Christopher!"

His eyes stayed on her for a second.

A small smile touched his mouth.

Then he lowered his mask over his face.

Vivienne’s heart fluttered.

Oh my God.

He heard me.

The referee called them into position.

The match began.

At first, Vivienne barely moved.

She watched closely, afraid she might cheer at the wrong moment.

Christopher remained calm.

Focused.

He waited.

Watched.

Then—

He struck.

The scoring light came on.

Vivienne’s eyes widened.

"Yes!"

She clapped before she could stop herself.

Christopher stepped back into position.

Her smile grew.

Okay.

She understood now.

When he scored—

She could cheer.

The next exchange was faster.

Their blades met with a sharp metallic sound.

Christopher shifted.

His opponent attacked.

Christopher avoided it, stepped back, then moved forward again.

Another point.

Vivienne jumped slightly in her seat.

"Come on, Christopher!"

A few people nearby glanced at her.

She didn’t care.

She was too excited.

Christopher turned briefly after the point.

Even behind the mask, she somehow felt like he was looking at her.

Her grin widened.

"That’s it!"

The match continued.

Christopher remained composed.

Every movement seemed deliberate.

He didn’t waste energy.

He waited for openings.

And when one appeared—

He took it.

Vivienne found herself leaning forward more and more.

She started reacting without thinking.

A sharp intake of breath when his opponent came close.

A small cheer when Christopher scored.

A quiet—

"Come on..."

when the exchange became tense.

She was completely invested now.

She wasn’t watching because she was supposed to.

She was watching because she wanted him to win.

And when the final point came—

The referee called the match.

Vivienne shot to her feet.

"Yes!"

Christopher lowered his weapon.

He had won.

Vivienne clapped enthusiastically.

"Christopher!"

He turned toward her.

He lifted his mask.

His hair was slightly damp now, pushed back from his forehead.

His face was flushed from exertion.

And he was smiling.

Not broadly.

Just enough.

But Vivienne saw it.

Her heart practically melted.

He walked back toward the competitor resting area.

Vivienne was already reaching for the bottle of water she’d bought earlier.

She quickly twisted the cap open.

By the time Christopher reached her, she was holding it out.

"Here."

Christopher looked at the bottle.

"Thank you."

He took it and drank.

Vivienne watched him take several sips.

Then, while he was still holding the bottle, she reached for it.

"Give it to me."

Christopher looked at her.

Then handed it back.

Vivienne recapped it and placed it carefully on the chair beside his fencing bag.

Then she noticed his towel.

It was lying over the back of the seat.

The same towel he’d used while warming up.

She looked at it.

Then at Christopher.

His forehead was still damp.

A small drop of sweat had slipped down near his temple.

Vivienne picked up the towel.

For a second, Christopher seemed to think she was going to hand it to him.

Instead, she stepped closer.

Then she gently patted his forehead with the towel.

Christopher went still.

He hadn’t expected that.

He looked at her.

Vivienne was still smiling as she carefully dabbed his forehead.

Once.

Then again.

She moved toward his temple.

And then their eyes met.

Vivienne froze.

Oh.

Her hand stopped.

She suddenly realized how close she was standing.

How she was actually touching his face.

How she was standing there wiping the sweat from her boyfriend’s forehead like this was the most natural thing in the world.

Her heart began beating faster.

Is he uncomfortable with this?

Or uncomfortable with the display?

Everyone can see.

And almost everyone here knows him.

Her smile faltered.

She slowly pulled her hand back.

"Uhm... sorry... I guess... I got a little carried away..."

Christopher looked at her.

She was biting her lower lip, her gaze lowered.

The tips of her ears had turned pink.

He couldn’t help but smile.

"It’s all right. I don’t mind."

His voice was quiet.

Vivienne blinked.

"Oh."

She hesitated.

Then, tentatively, she gently patted his forehead again.

Christopher watched her.

A quiet chuckle escaped him.

Vivienne immediately became nervous again.

"What?"

"Nothing."

He was still smiling.

She gave him an embarrassed little look.

"I just thought..."

She stopped.

She didn’t even know what she had thought.

She started to pull the towel away again.

This time, Christopher caught her wrist.

Not tightly.

Just enough to stop her.

Vivienne looked at him.

Christopher’s eyes softened.

"There."

He gently guided her hand back toward his forehead.

"There’s still some."

"Oh."

Vivienne swallowed.

She dabbed the towel against his forehead again.

His hand remained around her wrist for only a moment.

Then he released her.

Vivienne lowered her hand.

Her face was burning.

She was certain her ears were bright red by now.

Christopher noticed.

Of course he did.

A faint smile touched his lips.

"Thank you."

Vivienne looked at him.

"You’re welcome."

The words came out almost shyly.

Christopher glanced toward the piste.

Then back at her.

"Come. Let’s sit."

Vivienne nodded quickly.

"Okay."

They returned to the seats together.

Vivienne sat beside him.

She tried very hard to act normal.

As though she hadn’t just stood there wiping her boyfriend’s forehead.

As though her heart wasn’t still beating ridiculously fast.

For a few seconds, neither of them said anything.

Then Vivienne glanced at him.

"Your game earlier..."

Christopher looked over.

"You were really good."

"Ah... Good game."

A small smile touched his lips.

"Thank you."

Vivienne smiled.

Then Christopher added,

"You were very good at cheering too."

Her expression immediately changed.

"Oh."

She looked down.

Suddenly, she felt shy again.

"I was shouting."

"You were."

Vivienne covered a little of her face with one hand.

"That’s so unladylike."

Christopher’s smile deepened.

"You seemed enthusiastic."

"Well, you were so good."

She looked at him again.

"I couldn’t help myself."

Then she hesitated.

"Sorry. Did I embarrass you?"

Christopher looked at her for a moment.

Then he chuckled.

"No."

He shook his head slightly.

"It was just... unexpected."

Vivienne blinked.

"Unexpected?"

Christopher chuckled again.

"Let’s just say, it was a pleasant surprise."

"Oh."

She smiled.

"So... was it okay?"

"It was more than okay."

Her eyes brightened.

"Then I’ll continue."

Christopher raised an eyebrow.

"To the next match?"

"Of course."

She looked toward the piste.

"When is your next one?"

"In a few minutes, I think."

He glanced toward the officials.

"I won that bout, so I have one more round."

"Oh."

Vivienne nodded seriously.

"Then I’ll cheer even better."

Christopher gave her an amused look.

"Even better?"

"Yes."

She sat a little straighter.

"I’ll do my best."

A quiet chuckle escaped him.

"All right."

Vivienne smiled.

She was already looking forward to it.

After a while, another announcement came over the gym.

The next bouts were being called.

Then Christopher’s name was called.

Vivienne smiled brightly.

"Go win."

Christopher gave her a small nod.

"I’ll try."

Then he picked up his mask.

Vivienne settled back into her seat.

Her eyes followed him as he walked toward the piste again.
