Chapter 211: Something that should be Impossible?

  • Next Chapter

The rowdy wind howling through everywhere, aiming to cut through everything in its path, stilled for a brief moment, as if shocked by the sun that appeared out of nowhere.

Even the monsters below hesitated for a fraction of a second, their instincts screaming at them to back away from the light forming above.

Truly, no matter how many times Soren used this skill, it looked breathtaking.

The sun that rose through with such grace that it even stirred those mysterious energies in some ways, while Soren gave a shout,

“Shoot!”

This time, Soren did not split the arrow and used half of his increased mana in a single shot, his eyes focused on that transparent barrier.

The bowstring released with a sharp sound, and the arrow vanished forward like a streak of compressed daylight.

Although the chasm was big, it was not big enough. The moment the arrow left his bow, it was already upon the transparent barrier.

*Boom!*

And the instant the arrow collided, a loud boom echoed across the chasm, rattling everyone’s eardrums.

The shockwave pushed dust and debris outward in a ring, distorting the air itself for a moment.

In an instant, intense heat and the power of the sun poured down on the transparent barrier, covering it completely.

For a moment, everyone stopped and looked at the barrier engulfed by the sun.

The battlefield fell into a brief unnatural pause, as if even the monsters could not process what they were seeing.

‘This… do I have to use the SSS-rank arrow?’

Seeing this, Soren was not happy, though, as unlike what he thought, the barrier did not shatter the moment his arrow hit.

To be honest, he was shocked beyond belief. After all, this dungeon was only a D-rank.

Why was such a barrier in this place?

His Helios’ Piercer, with half the mana already exceeded power above level 60, not to mention the skill level.

Did it make sense for anything in a D-rank dungeon to stop it like this?

*Creak!*

Fortunately for Soren, the barrier did not stop his arrow completely, and a faint crack sounded as the roaring energy finally broke.

Although it took a few seconds, Soren finally heard a faint creak, followed by more and more until…

*Bang!*

The shield shattered into countless fragments, directly exposing the entire altar.

In the center still stood the Gnoll King, who looked stunned and stupid.

For a moment, even its posture froze, as if its mind refused to accept what had just happened.

In fact, it seemed so shocked that it did not even roar in anger, nor show any reaction.

Rather, it was still looking at the shattered barrier in absolute shock, akin to a human.

How could it not, as in its brain, that barrier was its absolute safe haven.

Unless its subordinates were killed, it did not need to even move from its position.

As long as its reinforcements arrived, these hunters would not be able to clear this dungeon.

Then, it could calmly absorb the mysterious energy in the altar as before.

It was the absolute rule of a Dungeon that every boss monsters were instintively aware of, thus their fighting style.

There had never been a mishap ever.

But…

“Evan…now!”

As the silence slowly returned, Soren shouted a wake-up call to his teammates as Evan quickly dashed towards the altar in afterimages.

It was as if he were waiting for Soren’s call.

A surge of momentum exploded from his feet as he crossed the broken battlefield in a straight line, ignoring every monster trying to intercept him.

*Roar!*

The monsters around tried to block, but it was already too late, as Evan’s shiny sword was already aiming at the boss’s neck.

Besides, with the shield destroyed, so was the buff on their bodies, making them weaker once again. Clearly, their increase in abilities had everything to do with that altar and mysterious energy.

*Swoosh!*

In the altar, Steel met air in a blur of motion, the strike cutting through the space between them like a flash of light.

*Roar!*

Of course, the boss was not going down so easily.

But still, caught off guard, it did not manage to block Evan’s sword in time, losing one of its arms in an instant.

Dark blood sprayed across the shattered ground as the arm fell, confirming the first real damage dealt to the core enemy.

The battle once again took a different turn as Soren’s arrow shattered the impossible shield, making everything go haywire.

It looked as if something that should not have happened, happened.

But Soren did not care and shouted once more, giving orders as a captain should when things were in their advantage.

“Aurelia, use your AOE attack.”

“Aria, Elderwood Sentinel!”

“Elise and Elara, be a spearhead. We are going to the altar.”

A coordinated surge followed immediately as each of them shifted formation without hesitation, turning the scattered defense into a forward assault.

“Kill everything on your path. We have to kill the boss under 3 minutes.”

That was the time before another shield sprang from the altar once again, covering the boss monster.

A faint pulse from the altar confirmed it. The mechanism was already restarting.

Clearly, just because he shattered it didn’t mean it was gone. They had to hurry up.

Of course, Soren could kill the Gnoll King if he aimed another arrow. But he refrained for now.

By how his arrow only managed to crack the shield and did not even manage to touch the Gnoll King, he already realized that the mysterious energy was a real deal.

This time, he did something that was not even mentioned in the game. He did not know how the situation would turn out.

So, he gave an order to kill the boss at absolute speed while he keenly looked at the altar, ready to condense an SSS-rank arrow if things went south.

To be honest, he was now more and more interested in that rift.

Just what was that?
