Chapter 163: I am coming with him.
Chapter 163: I am coming with him.
"Pulse is weak."
"Blood loss severe."
"Extreme lower body structural damage."
A team of medics circled around Lucian once Evelyn and Adrian took him to the safe point.
One of them placed two fingers near Lucian’s neck, another opened a case filled with small vials, silver strips, and folded talismans, and the third unfolded the stretcher.
Evelyn watched it all with a nervous look on her face. Her heartbeat was a mess, her face was covered with dried tears, her usual ’charm’ was gone. Right now, she only looked like a woman who was terrified by the possibility of losing someone very, very important in her life.
Honestly, the people here had already done everything they could do within their means. Lucian’s life was safe, his bleeding had stopped completely, he had actually recovered a little.
His legs, however, were in a much worse condition. They couldn’t be fixed here.
They needed to take him to the headquarters, and this was exactly what they were doing.
"Lift on three."
One of the medics spoke as he looked at Adrian. Adrian nodded as he crouched and grabbed the stretcher.
"One. Two. Three."
Lucian was then placed on the stretcher. The moment his body touched the surface, thin bands of pale light wrapped around his chest, arms, waist, and legs without tightening too much.
Then, they put the stretcher inside an ambulance.
Evelyn obviously followed them and no one dared to stop her. Enclave’s new strike team, twenty-five hunters in total, with more nearby, moved with them, safely bringing Lucian to the headquarters.
Soon, they moved Lucian to a much larger room. Lila and the other members of Alaric’s team were already inside.
After Lucian left with Evelyn, the Hosts lost all motivation. The target had escaped, the enemy reinforcement was coming in minutes, and even if they stayed here and fought, there was nothing to gain, so they decided to save their own lives.
They escaped.
Orpheus wanted to escape as well, but the Enclave members did not let him.
By the time everything ended, Enclave hunters had captured Orpheus and fifteen other demonic Hosts who failed to escape. Though even then, every single member of Alaric’s team knew the real reason they won today wasn’t any of them—
It was Lucian.
And right now, as they saw Lucian lying in front of them, their eyes widened in horror.
"Oh my God..."
Lila’s face turned pale when she observed his state.
"Cross..."
Sarah, who had blood on her sleeves and a cut on her cheek, froze as well. Elise had a broken arm, but her focus was all on Lucian.
Clara wasn’t here, she was still dealing with the aftermath.
As for Alaric—
He was under medical care, his situation was the worst. He had fifteen total fractures, three of them needing urgent attention. If it weren’t for Lila, he probably wouldn’t even be alive.
"Room seven is free, take him inside."
Lila ordered as she glanced at the medical team. The medical team moved according to her instructions.
Lila moved with them.
"Prepare blood restoration, bone suspension, and suppression-resistant healing array. Do not use full regeneration until I check his ener—"
She started giving instructions, but the next second, she froze.
Her eyes fell on a particular woman who walked in.
Vivienne Everhart.
Yes, she was here.
And the instant she appeared, everyone, including the medical team, stopped. Sarah’s face tightened, Elise lowered her eyes, Adrian stepped back without thinking.
Vivienne ignored them all, her gaze moving past them all and falling on her unconscious student. For a moment, her eyes darkened when she saw his state, that, however, disappeared before anyone could notice it.
The woman walked towards her student. She looked down at Lucian’s pale face, at his ruined legs and then—
"Lady Vivienne."
Lila stepped forward.
"We were preparing emergency treatment, his body is unstabl—"
"He is coming with me."
Vivienne declared directly.
The entire medical wing went silent, but no one dared to stop her. That was when Vivienne raised one hand, hundreds of thin red threads slipped out of her fingers and wrapped around Lucian’s stretcher, then his arms, chest, waist, and legs.
The medical team stepped back.
Vivienne then turned back, ready to leave, but just then—
"I am coming with him."
Evelyn spoke up, looking right at Vivienne, and the instant she said those words, everyone froze, as if the superstar had done something she shouldn’t have.
Vivienne slowly turned her head towards Evelyn.
And Evelyn...
She gulped.
She didn’t know why, but the instant the woman looked at her with those piercing brown eyes, she felt like her entire existence would be ripped apart. It was like being stared at by an apex predator. She felt like if this woman had been there when Nolan attacked, it wouldn’t have mattered even if he had brought twice the force with him.
Right now, however, as scared as she was, Evelyn did not back down. This was about HER Lucian. She wouldn’t let him be taken away in front of her eyes unless she was sure he was fine.
So she kept looking into Vivienne’s eyes, unwilling to back down.
Vivienne didn’t say anything for a few seconds. That only made the room more tense, but then—
"Follow me."
She allowed it.
Surprising every person present in the room.
The red threads lifted Lucian’s stretcher into the air. Evelyn rushed to his side immediately. She wanted to hold Lucian’s hand, to tell him she was there for him but—
"Do not touch the threads."
Vivienne instructed without looking back.
"Will it hurt him?"
Evelyn asked in a low, puppy-like voice.
"It will hurt you."
Evelyn moved her hand back as Vivienne kept walking, leaving the room that was now dead silent.
Lila and the others watched them leave, especially Evelyn, who had somehow managed to convince Vivienne. Sarah looked like she wanted to say something to Evelyn, but Elise caught her wrist.
"Don’t."
Elise whispered.
Evelyn somehow survived, but that might be because Lady Vivienne knew how much Lucian valued her. They weren’t the same, so it was better to keep silent. Coming into Vivienne’s attention was the last thing anyone should want.
That was, until you were an insane fool like Lucian, then you could do practically anything you wanted.
