True Incubus: The Demon with No Limits
Chapter 306: That sounds violent.
"You have no idea."
Aurelia chuckled.
Lucian immediately turned around and saw her standing behind him, wearing simple black clothes, her hair loosely tied behind her instead of how she styled it during the Gala.
She looked considerably more casual now and for some odd reason, that only made her look much more beautiful.
"You’re awake."
"I am."
Aurelia smiled.
"I thought you’d be sleeping."
That made the Vampire raise an eyebrow.
"Did you forget what I am?"
"...right."
Lucian nodded in realisation.
A Vampire.
A nocturnal being.
"You people don’t sleep at night."
"Generally."
Aurelia replied.
"Though that isn’t quite accurate."
Lucian tilted his head. Aurelia started walking towards him.
"Vampires are nocturnal by nature, yes. For most of us, night is the more comfortable period, sharper senses, stronger blood, better control, but that doesn’t mean every Vampire sleeps the moment the sun rises."
She continued.
"Most Vampires don’t require sleep as frequently as Humans do."
"So how frequently do you people sleep?"
Lucian asked curiously.
"Depends on the Vampire."
She shrugged.
"Some sleep every few days, some once a week, some considerably less."
Lucian stared.
"The more I hear about you people, the more envious I get."
"Not being able to sleep isn’t quite as enviable as you may think."
Aurelia answered and those words made Lucian pause again. Seeing that, Aurelia quickly changed the topic.
"Most of the Vampires who left the Gala didn’t go to sleep, they simply returned to their rooms, some started reading, some worked, fed, trained, whatever."
"Right."
Lucian nodded.
"So the entire sleeping-during-the-day thing is exaggerated."
"Very."
Aurelia chuckled as she continued walking, Lucian started following her.
"We can sleep during the day, most prefer to, but sleep itself isn’t required every twenty-four hours."
"Makes sense."
Lucian nodded.
Aurelia then looked at him again, her eyes moved over his clothes, his slightly damp hair, the faint sweat on his forehead and—
"You were running."
She muttered.
"Yes."
Lucian nodded.
"How far?"
"Roughly a hundred kilometres."
"For what purpose?"
Aurelia seemed confused.
For someone like Lucian, running at such a slow pace was a terrible waste of time. Lucian, however, just shrugged.
"Meh, light cardio."
Aurelia stared at him in silence and in the end, Lucian changed his answer.
"Clearing my head."
That answer changed her expression slightly.
"Something happened?"
She asked.
She didn’t seem particularly concerned, but her tone did change a little.
"Nothing important."
Lucian shook his head.
He wasn’t planning on sharing anything, at least not now.
Aurelia didn’t press either, she merely nodded and the two continued walking.
And as they did—
Lucian’s thoughts returned to the decision he had already made.
He was going to stay.
And it wasn’t because Vivienne called leaving ’running away’, though that certainly didn’t help.
Still, Lucian did give it proper thought.
If he were to believe Vivienne, which he did, then in this scenario, Aurelia, for the most part, was an Ally. After all, she had personally guaranteed his safety in her and House Veyr’s name.
There weren’t many beings here that would dare to harm him after that.
Not to mention both Garrick and Vivienne knew exactly where he was, his contract also connected him with Evelyn, so she would know if something unexpected happened, prompting them to move.
And most importantly—
All he had was a strange dream, nothing attacked him, nothing entered his room, nothing affected his body.
The situation was practically harmless now.
Leaving made no sense.
His teacher was right, the supernatural world wasn’t going to hand him neat reports every time something strange happened.
Not every situation would come with an enemy name.
If he reacted so sensitively to everything, if he let every unknown make him retreat—
He would never truly learn anything.
And following that thought, Lucian decided to stay and watch. Then, if things actually became more dangerous—
He would decide again.
It was that simple.
Lucian nodded again.
"You look less troubled."
Aurelia commented, Lucian looked at her and noticed her observing his face.
"You were watching me?"
"You are right in front of me."
"Fair."
Lucian nodded.
Aurelia smiled, then, she suddenly changed the subject.
"Are you still interested in Vespera’s Ascension?"
That instantly got a reaction out of him.
"Obviously."
"I thought so."
Aurelia nodded.
"She should be training."
"At this hour?"
Aurelia glanced at him.
"...right."
Lucian nodded.
Vampires.
Night.
He was going to need some time to adjust.
"Come."
Aurelia spoke as she started walking.
"I would like a shower first."
"Don’t worry about it, you can shower after meeting her."
"People usually shower before meeting someone, you know? Or are you trying to sabotage the relationship I was going to build with her out of jealousy?"
That made Aurelia look at him.
"It would give me butterflies if you were."
Lucian raised both his arms.
She stared at him for a few seconds, then, she chuckled and kept walking, not saying anything else.
Lucian didn’t press further either and followed her with a smile.
The two walked deeper into the estate, unlike the sections Lucian had explored before, Aurelia led him towards one of the large training compounds situated behind the main ancestral building.
The entire structure looked different from Enclave training facilities, it was much older. The outer walls were made from dark stone reinforced with silver formations, large crimson symbols were carved around the entrance.
Two Vampire guards stood outside and the moment they saw Aurelia, they bowed.
"Lady Veyr."
Aurelia nodded.
The guards obviously did not stop her. Their eyes moved towards Lucian, they recognised him as well. One of the guards stared slightly longer than necessary, which made Lucian smile and wave at him.
The Vampire immediately looked away.
Lucian pouted.
Aurelia almost facepalmed at the reaction. Then, she walked in, Lucian followed her and the instant they entered—
BOOOM
They heard a noise.
Lucian’s face changed.
BOOOM
Then there was the second impact, the entire hallway trembled faintly.
"That sounds violent."
"Scared?"
Aurelia chuckled and Lucian—
He stared at her with a smile.
If only she knew his teacher.
