Chapter 307: She is not going to last long.

"Don’t be too scared, I am here."

Aurelia smiled.

"I sometimes hug the nearest person I find out of fear."

"Is that so..."

Aurelia’s crimson eyes glowed. Lucian’s smile widened. The two of them walked through another corridor before reaching a large observation area overlooking an enormous circular arena.

Lucian stared at the Arena and he paused.

There were seven Vampires inside.

Six of them surrounded one.

Lucian’s eyes obviously moved towards the one who was surrounded.

She was standing in the centre, from her face, she looked like she was in her mid-twenties. At this point, that detail was as useless as it could be.

Lucian kept staring at the woman, she had long dark red hair that was tied behind her head, her upper body was covered in a sleeveless black training uniform, exposing pale arms that had several shallow wounds.

Despite her wounds, the light in her crimson eyes glowed strongly.

Lucian then glanced at the six Vampires surrounding her, one of them rushed from the left, the woman turned, her hand moved, blood burst out from a cut along her palm and hardened into a thin crimson blade.

CLANG

She blocked the attack and while she did, another Vampire appeared behind her, she turned, but she was too late.

The third Vampire appeared near her and punched her ribs.

BOOOM

Her body was sent flying.

However, before she even landed, blood spread beneath her, forming several thin tendrils. The same tendrils also wrapped around the attacker’s leg and pulled.

The attacker instantly lost his balance.

The woman, on the other hand, landed on the tendrils, the tendrils eased the impact, then they pushed her back into the battlefield.

She used the momentum she was carrying and drove her knee into his chest.

Another Vampire attacked, she raised one hand, a Wall of Blood appeared, blocking the strike. The woman moved away, creating distance from the six attackers, not letting them surround her.

Lucian stared at the battle and nodded inwardly.

The woman’s battle sense was remarkable.

She was fast, strong, and controlled.

However...

Something was... strange.

She was getting... weaker.

At first, Lucian thought it was her injuries catching up to her and slowing her down. Soon, however, he discarded that theory.

None of her bruises were deep enough to weaken her to this extent. This was more like... she was being drained.

Lucian couldn’t properly explain what it was he was sensing, but something definitely seemed strange here.

Of course, while he thought of all that, the battle continued.

One of the six Vampires slashed her shoulder, this time, the wound was much deeper than the other wounds.

Blood spilled.

The flesh closed almost instantly, but Lucian saw the same thing again.

She got... weaker.

Lucian also noticed another thing. The six Vampires around her didn’t seem like they were trying to win. In just the few minutes he had been here, he counted seven moments where one of them had the chance to end the battle.

They didn’t.

They instantly backed down, letting her continue fighting.

And as Lucian saw how they moved around as the woman was getting noticeably weaker, he was now sure.

They weren’t trying to win, they were... pressuring her. ℯℯ𝑙.

Forcing her to block, regenerate, use her abilities, reinforce her body, and repeat everything all over again, then again, then again and again.

That was what they were doing.

They were pushing her to keep fighting.

Lucian nodded at that.

He could see her breathing getting harder and harder, her movements slowed down, her skin somehow became even paler and even the glow in her eyes dimmed a little.

Despite all that, the attackers continued, Lucian kept staring at the battle without saying anything, analysing everything he saw, then finally—

"What do you see?"

Aurelia asked with a curious look on her face.

"They are pushing her to her limits?"

He guessed.

It was one of the common tactics to train.

Vivienne used it with him multiple times, only when she used it with him, he had about ten more restrictions on him.

What Lucian did not know was that this was considered one of the most difficult training methods a young Vampire usually went through, something they almost only put themselves through when they were nearing their Crimson Ascension.

To Lucian—

This was just another Monday, actually, it was a lighter-load Monday, something that doesn’t even exist whenever he is training with Vivienne.

"They are draining her."

Aurelia explained.

"Draining her? As in exhausting her to know how long she lasts in a battle when she is completely tired?"

"...why would one even want to know that? Who fights when they are completely exhausted?"

Aurelia questioned back.

Lucian only tilted his head in confusion.

"You need to prepare for every possible situation."

He spoke as if it was the most normal thing in the world and Aurelia, she had absolutely no idea what the boy was saying.

In the end, instead of talking about something that would make no sense to a sane mind, she explained what was happening here.

"They are draining her blood."

"Her Blood?"

"Yes."

Aurelia nodded.

Another explosion sounded below, Lucian looked down and noticed that this time, the woman needed much more time to stand back up again.

"She is not going to last long."

He muttered.

"That is the point."

Aurelia nodded.

Lucian glanced at her and she started explaining.

"Vampires are different from Humans or other Supernatural Entities. Take you for example, you produce and store Demonic Energy, correct?"

Lucian nodded.

"We do not possess a completely separate reserve in the same way, our power is carried by our blood."

"...hah?"

Lucian’s face changed.

He knew Vampire abilities were blood-based but—

"Your literal blood?"

"Yes."

Aurelia nodded.

"The more power a Vampire uses, the more of their blood is consumed."

Those words made Lucian look back at the woman, she created another Blood Weapon, the crimson blade formed and when Aurelia pointed it out, Lucian noticed it immediately.

The blade... it was structurally weaker than before.

"Huh..."

Lucian nodded.

He was slowly starting to understand it.
