True Incubus: The Demon with No Limits
Chapter 374: She was going to break this thing herself.
"Then we’ll meet you later."
Vivienne spoke as she grabbed Lucian and then disappeared.
Aurelia glanced in the direction she rushed to, then, her eyes returned to her brother.
"Why was she here?"
She asked properly now that she could.
At that question, Valerian paused for a short moment, then, he too, looked in the direction Vivienne had gone and—
"For her student."
"...Lucian?"
Aurelia frowned.
"Yes."
Valerian nodded. Aurelia’s face changed a little, Valerian noticed that but he didn’t say anything. Instead, his eyes moved towards the massive barrier surrounding the Arcelis Estate then—
"She arrived while we were trying to break through..."
He started speaking, telling her exactly what happened just a few minutes ago and Aurelia listened carefully.
...
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM
A huge explosion that shook the very sky erupted and...
It only managed to make the gigantic crimson barrier tremble a little. It felt hopeless, the barrier was easily one of the strongest barriers in the world, it wouldn’t just break.
One needed a lot of time and resources to get rid of it.
Still, the Veyr Vampires outside the barrier did not give in, they continued striking it. These weren’t ordinary beings, most of them were High Elders, three of them were Ancients, and that was excluding the one who led them.
Veyr Patriarch, Valerian Veyr.
Valerian hovered in the air with his arms crossed, he had a cold expression on his face as he stared at the barrier in front of him.
"Again."
He commanded as his eyes moved to a massive crimson spear hovering in the air in front of it.
The spear wasn’t a normal weapon, there were dozens of crimson lines extending from its shaft, connecting to Vampires positioned in a specific formation behind it.
The moment Valerian gave the order, the Vampires pushed their energy into the spear, the spear trembled, the air around it distorted and then—
It shot forward.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Another explosion was heard as the spear struck the barrier, the barrier trembled again. The ground beneath the Veyr Vampires shook violently, several nearby rocks actually shattered from the pressure.
But the barrier was still intact.
"Again."
Valerian ordered again without any change in his expression.
This was the Veyr Piercing Formation.
A Formation specifically designed to break through any barrier in the world. Of course, the stronger the barrier, the more resistance it offered but till now, there had never been a barrier that had survived the onslaught of the Veyr Piercing Formation.
This Formation was actually the reason for the phrase ’No Barrier is Impenetrable.’
Sure, the Arcelis Barrier was strong, much stronger than most barriers in the world, but to the Veyrs, the question wasn’t whether they would be able to break the barrier or not—
It was whether they could break it in the shortest time possible.
And that was exactly what they were trying to do.
Concentrating the energy of their strongest Vampires into the Veyr Piercing Formation, trying to pierce through the Arcelis Barrier as fast as they could.
BOOOOOOOOOOOM
The barrier was struck again, the air shook, the ground rumbled and the barrier didn’t break.
"Again."
Valerian ordered again.
He could see the destruction inside the Arcelis Territory through the crimson barrier. It was bad, it had been thousands of years since he last saw an Ancient House reduced to this state.
It was an extremely dangerous event and...
His sister was stuck inside.
He needed to go in as fast as possible.
Valerian’s eyes became colder and just then—
He and the other Vampires around him noticed something.
Someone was approaching, it wasn’t a Vampire, it was... something else. The Ancient Vampires were the first to turn around, others followed their lead, a few even took out their weapons, thinking an enemy had come to ambush them but then—
"Stop."
Valerian lifted two fingers.
The Vampires paused.
Valerian’s eyes stared at the woman approaching them from a distance. Long dark hair, cold expression and that terrifying presence.
Every single Vampire present here recognised her.
Vivienne Everhart.
Humanity’s Strongest Hunter.
Valerian narrowed his eyes as she stopped in front of them, the question in his head was obvious.
Why was she here?
Humanity’s Strongest Hunter wouldn’t personally appear outside the territory of an Ancient Vampire House without reason, if she was here then...
It was very likely that Humans were making a move, something was about to happen.
And...
It was terrible timing.
Valerian’s frown deepened, he stared at Vivienne, who was observing everything around her, the crimson barrier, the Veyr Piercing Formation and then finally, her eyes turned to Valerian and—
"How long would it take?"
She asked directly.
"What?"
Valerian stared at her with a confused look on his face. Starting a direct conversation without any greeting or explanation as to why she was here felt... strange.
But then again, considering who this woman was... it wasn’t as surprising.
"How long until you break it?"
Vivienne repeated her question.
Valerian kept staring at her for a few seconds, then he glanced at the Formation and—
"Fourteen hours, at the very least."
Vivienne’s eyes changed when she heard those words.
"Too long."
She shook her head. That made Valerian raise an eyebrow.
"Obviously. That’s an Ancient Vampire House’s Barrier, it won’t just break with a flick."
He explained.
It was more of a justification than an explanation. He couldn’t let her look down on the Formation the Veyrs prided themselves on.
Vivienne ignored that, right now, she couldn’t care less about such trivial things.
"What do you need to break it faster?"
She asked directly, not thinking about the price she would need to pay.
Valerian looked at her for a moment, then he shook his head.
"Nothing you can provide immediately."
He then pointed towards the Formation.
"This technique relies on Veyr blood, the resonance is already synchronized. If you interfere with the impact point, you’ll destabilize the Formation."
"So I cannot join you."
"You cannot.
It will only slow us down."
Vivienne nodded.
Then, she asked another question.
"Can I attack elsewhere?"
That made Valerian blink for a moment.
"You alone?"
"If I create another impact point and weaken the barrier from that point, would that help?"
"Well... it would but you alone won’t be able to do any meaningful dama—"
Before he could even complete his words, Vivienne was already walking towards the barrier with her sword in her hand.
She was going to break this thing herself.
